Officer Fires 12 Shots At Attacker...

...before dropping him and my guess is all of them hit. A friend of mine just sent me the link to an article and video of a police officer (or deputy) in Maryland shooting an apparently crazed guy who attacked him with a stick breaking it over the cops arm, all while the guy seemingly, to some, had a smile on his face. The officer allegedly tried his TAZER to no avail, then fired at the guy as he, the officer, backed away with the bad guy repeatedly trying to hit him with what remained of the stick. Reportedly the bad guy had also rammed a couple of vehicles before the officer arrived.

The video is graphic and the commentary from the guy who made the video is filled with some cursing but I recommend you turn your sound on anyway. It shows, no matter how supportive is the public, many will not help an officer in such a situation. The guy making the video also states what is the bottom line in this case and says it more than once.

Good shoot as far as I can see - every shot he fired should be included under the header GOOD SHOOT when Internal Affairs investigates!

Note, the guy was not grinning, as he appeared to some to be doing, anymore when he hit the ground and was writhing around. One has to wonder what were his thoughts at that moment, maybe something like: 'Why did I do that, I want a do over'.

I do not know if this officer's department had been at all defunded but if so all I can say is thank goodness the police were not defunded to the point of not being able to supply ammo to their officers.

Good job officer - now get yourself into counseling. Then consider retiring. You look old enough to be a granddad - if so go enjoy your grand kids and or go fishing or something; it may be time to call it quits in this day and age of anti-cop hatred. Retirement is grand, take it from me.

More info at this link. Says the officer is a Sgt. on the job for 18 years, currently assigned to the Civil Section. He certainly did not act like a desk jockey - I must say he did it right in my professional and personal estimation. He may need another couple years before retirement and that would be a shame since he's earned it already - every penny of it.

I Don't Know How Many Pots Full...

...of snow it takes to make one potful of water and while I did not count, it seemed like at least 6 to 8. I wound up getting two Homer Buckets worth, about 3/4 or a bit more full, to use in the toilets when the need arises for a good strong flush. I've been getting the snow on my small patio but I kind of think there is enough for maybe one more and doubtful for two. So, that will mean getting the rest from the parking lot depending on how long our water at the apartment complex is shut off. A pipe burst and that was it for our ready supply of H2O. I had about16-18 gallon jugs full of the wet stuff for whatever emergency use it becomes needed but that supply has dwindled down by about 6  gallons already. I also have 11 cases of bottled water for drinking (edited to add: and lots of booze)!

So far not too bad. If the power goes out though we are screwed. I do not have a portable heater (kerosene or propane) nor do I have a generator with an electric heater. In the event of a power failure, I'd have to heat up the car, grab the tortoises and the mongrel Skye and hit the road headed toward my son's house. I really do not want to drive in this crap; the authorities here seem to have been totally unprepared for a snowfall like this and the ice that accompanied it so I have no clue as to the road conditions. I imagine though that they are hazardous. I suppose if very bad, I could make for the nearest motel with power and sneak in the critters. Maybe many folks would go to see if portable heaters were still available at Home Depot or Lowe's but the thought of burning kerosene or another combustible fuel inside my apartment does not appeal to what little good sense remains within my little gray cells and I know little to nothing about generators.

RIP El Rushbo

He will be missed, not just by me of course but by tens of millions of Americans if not b y all Americans. He was one of the most articulate people I have ever heard speak about being an American (as in being a U.S. Citizen or an alien who legally immigrated her with the intent of becoming a citizen). He was my kind of American, he truly lovedthis country.

I should not be in shock over his passing, we all knew it was imminent. I said to my son a week or two ago that I feared his passing was at very close hand because last I heard him on his show he was evidently in distress from talking. Then he was absent for about 3 or more weeks with only guests hosts doing the show. We all must die but it was a loss that I wish we did not need to suffer now at this critical point in our nation's history.

I will miss him. RIP Rush - a mega dittos RIP at that.

Did I Say Something Recently About Selling Some Guns?

Yes, I am certain that I said so and then what did I do today but have the high bids on three Beretta pistols at an online auction. The pistols on which I had the high bids are:

Beretta 92FS Compact with wood grips, one 10 round mag, as new in the box:

Beretta 70S in .380, as new in the box with 1 mag:

Beretta Model 87 Target with two 10 round mags, as new in the case:

I had to pass on a few other Beretta pistols and a Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine when they went for higher than what I was willing to bid. I picked up the 70S and the 87 Target at good prices. I probably overpaid a bit for the 92FS compact but think I got very good deals on the 70S and the 87 Target considering recent sale prices I have seen on GunBroker for them. I will say though, in this case, the prices did not matter much as long as they were within my I want them that badly price range.

If the Beretta 92FS Compact shoots where I aim it, as do each of my other three 92 series pistols, it may become my daily carry. Then again, if pretty enough, I may just hide it in the safe and never shoot it.

There were literally 33 Beretta firearms in this auction (Hessney.com). Two of those were shotguns, one was the carbine mentioned above and the remainder were handguns (all semi-auto pistols save one revolver). When I asked the auctioneer, Joe Hessney, about why there were so many Berettas, and why so many were listed "as new" in the box or case (which was the majority of the Beretta handguns), he confirmed my suspicions that they had come from a single collection. In fact, he told me that they were from a collector's estate in Rochester, NY and that the man's wife had told Joe: her husband bought them, fired most of them only once, cleaned them and put them away. Joe said she also told him that her husband had been attempting to collect all models of Beretta pistols and it looks like he was well on his way before that dream was cut short. RIP brother Beretta lover and rest assured I will take good care of them.

Now that these will set me back a bit more than just a pretty penny, I really have to get mine arse in gear and sell some others. More gun cleaning to do tomorrow or even later this afternoon (once the auction ends) to get them ready for sale. They are mostly all clean but it does not hurt to clean them again to make sure they sparkle before selling them. I only hope that the auction selling bug bites me as badly as did the auction bidding bug. Then again, I really used a lot of restraint on several other Berettas today and a few other firearms. Thus, I set my high bids and never went over except on the 92FS Compact and only went over my set high bid by $50.00  - it was, as were the other two, definitely on my I want these guns list.

Glenn B

I Am Fairly Computer Literate...

... as they say. So, when my newly purchased refurbished HP ZBook G6 went on the fritz, I tried to fix it by doing a system restore to its earliest restore point. That failed a few to several times and I tried a complete reset of Windows 10. Thing is it told me I needed to insert the media with the recovery info on it, I thought I was screwed because I forgot to make a recovery drive. Normally you do not need a recovery drive, Windows 10 will reinitialize itself from files stored in the computer but not this time. So I tried to make a recovery drive - no dice. It told me files were missing. Oh shit I thought. Now normally I'd have thought, no problem I'll call warranty service and yes I had paid extra for a 3 year warranty.

The thing about the warranty - or lack of it - was that earlier in the day before the laptop going on the fritz, I had tried to register my warranty. When I checked the warranty there was a link to contact info for warranty service on it; I went to that link and found there was contact info for service and to register the warranty. I called to register the warranty. The HP rep had a heavy accent I had heard many times over the years I worked for the U.S. Custom Service Office of Investigations and my bet was he was in a South American nation like Colombia or at least from there. His name was Carlos. Carlos told me I had called the wrong number and got the one for consumer warranties and not for Care Packs (as Barney Fife would have said: what's the diff). He then said he'd give me the correct number, guess what number he gave me. It was the exact same number I had just called to get him - I thought 'oh boy here we go' . After awhile of nincompoopish conversation (on his part) I asked to speak to a supervisor. He put me through to customer service where Lisa got on the phone. She introduced herself as a supervisor.

Lisa asked me for all the info about what was going on. She told me she could not help me because she was not allowed to run the serial number (a supervisor - I doubt it). She then said she would put me through to Care Pack Registration and did so. I first asked her for their number should we be disconnected and she said she did not have it but only had an internal code to connect to them (yeah right)! Anyway, she put me through and it connected. I figure I had been on the phone maybe 10 to 12 minutes by then.

I was on hold again and about another 10 minutes went by with me on hold but finally a lady who did not give me her name got on the line saying she was with Care Pack Registration. She asked me everything about the laptop and the warranty such as my customer number, the model number and description of the laptop, the serial number of the laptop and the numbers for the Care Pack. When I read her the description of the laptop, reading exactly what HP put on the Care Pack warranty as the machine being warrantied, she said something to the effect of: 'I have that all here on the screen, your Care Pack has already been registered'. I thought great. Then she went 'hmm, did you say it is a refurbished system'? I said yes. Then she dropped the HP-bomb by saying: 'HP does not in any way warranty refurbished laptops'. She then told me, in no uncertain terms: 'HP absolutely will not honor this warranty'. My head was almost to the exploding point but I remained polite and asked her how could it have been offered to me and how could HP have taken my $300.00 payment for it for three years, and how could they send the warranty to me with the fact it is a refurbished machine included on the warranty paperwork and then not how is it they would not honor the warranty!

She then asked me to hold on. I am guessing that by that point I had been on the phone for 20 to 25 minutes. I was getting edgy but promised myself to remain nice because if I let go of that restraint I can get stupidly nasty. It did not matter that I had restrained myself because at 38 minutes and 30 seconds into my phone call, I was disconnected. Do you think the woman who did not give me her name had the courtesy to call me back? After all, she had all my customer info, including my contact phone number in the HP system and I had given her my customer ID so she could have easily looked it up but, of course, she did not call me.

So, I wrote an email to the salesman asking him about the warranty. After that, I watched some TV and later on I got on the laptop and fiddled around. They it went on the fritz. Either I screwed something up or the computer screwed up but it does not matter which because either way it would have been covered by the warranty. What mattered was maybe they really would not honor the warranty; so, I did not bother calling them because had they told me 'no way Jose' I would have exploded in a litany of nastiness. I waited for the salesman to get back to me to first assure me I had a good warranty.

Later that day, I got a reply from the salesman. His reply was an email asking 'when is the best time for me to call you'. I replied that I wanted a written reply in an email so I would have a written record of whether or not HP would honor the warranty and I told him because of my mood it was probably best if I did not talk to anyone about it further that day because I was pissed off big time. I then forwarded the email I had sent to him to a gal at HP who doles out RMA's for returns and told her her I'd be returning the laptop. She replied same day and sent me the RMA telling me she fully understood why I wanted to return it. Next day, no contact from the salesman. Today, day three, no contact from the salesman. I will call him on Monday but first I am going to send him another email.

Since the laptop went on the fritz, I figured out how to do a complete reset Windows 10 and start fresh. I do not know why but it must have been my third or fourth attempt and I was able to make a recovery drive. How it could make the recovery drive but not do the reset from files on the laptop with the recovery drive is beyond me. Only thing I can think is that I ran a Windows update in between that last attempt and the one prior to it and maybe that put the missing files back into place. It seems to have worked so maybe I do not need warranty service but I still want the warranty to be honored. If I am told something like: 'whoopsie we made a mistake, no warranties on refurbished machines, I may have to break my vow to myself never to purchase another Dell and look to them for a different laptop. It's been probably last two laptops, not including this latest one, have been HP's.

All this made my head spin. I hate dealing with leftists and you probably safely bet that those working for HP & Dell are almost al lefties.

Doing Some Gun Cleaning...

...for regular maintenance and in anticipation of selling some of them off. I hate it when I buy a gun and it's filthy. I figure the least I can do is a good field cleaning of them before I sell them. Actually I am going beyond that a bit, taking down the wood and steel ones and making sure to clean & treat the wood as well as the steel but am not taking apart trigger groups or bolts to clean them more thoroughly than a filed cleaning of them. It always amazes me, that a gun I know I cleaned not all that long ago, maybe a few months as most, winds up with fouling coming out of the barrel when I clean it again but it's just a fact of life, it hides and then seeps out of everywhere just like Cosmoline.

Anyway, while cleaning a few today, I also realized I am low on some cleaning supplies so I placed an order for several things. I'd rather not run short and sooner or later all the leftist rube newbies who bought guns, over the course of the last year's long or so buying frenzy (to date), are going to realize they need this stuff too. When they do, I imagine it will run low just like everything else firearms related and the prices will rise. Besides that, there is that tax on guns, ammo and maybe on firearms related equipment & supplies that Schumer is chomping at the bit to have legislated and enacted and you can bet it is coming sooner or later this administration!

Now is the time to, as they say in the stock market: BUY BUY BUY!

This Will Be Hard To Do...

...not so much as to getting the practical aspects of it done but rather because I am attached to them and thus just getting it done period will not be easy for me emotionally. What the "it" is that will be hard to get done is selling off between 25% and 50% of my firearms. There are several I do not shoot and others I do not need; although, I like them all. Yet, I am considering selling them because of Joe Biden is president and because of the dem control of both houses of Congress.

What those sales would accomplish is to give me enough cash to buy more ammo and to buy some others assets like gold or silver to hedge my future before they are completely too expensive for me. My guns are not heirlooms or exquisite pieces worth a fortune but valued at enough maybe to help me get through the hard times that I anticipate are coming.

Now, mind you, this is just a thought for the moment. I may or may not actually decide to sell them but I have to say, I see no other options right now except the option to be unprepared when hard times hit. I think those hard times are a year or two away at most if not sooner under the current administration. I do not want to find myself unprepared and in a predicament that I cannot fix once it is upon us. With that in mind, I recently sold my meager stocks; got a decent profit even though I could have gotten more because the market has gone up since last week. Still though, my profit was a sure thing and I am looking for sure things right now as opposed to taking chances that may or may not work out. So, I am considering selling some firearms; prices may get better, then again - maybe not!

Still, it would be truly a difficult decision to sell that many of my guns and even more difficult to select which ones to sell. Right now though, it seems like the only thing to do in order to be able to prevent my financial downfall when we, the people, become accountable for the economic blunders of our elected officials.

Mind you, it will not be all Biden's fault. Trump made a fatal error by approving stimulus payments and other pandemic relief. Obama spent like there was no tomorrow times 10! Bush, before him did likewise to a lessor extent but still spent way too much. Clinton was no different and each successor spends more than his predecessor.

I truly think that certain things besides merely the essentials for life will be good investments for the future. Besides food & water and medical supplies, I think precious metals and ammunition are good investments. Land too if you can afford real estate. Guns may be good ones too but if you cannot find the ammo for them, what good are they? Thus, I would rather have fewer guns and more ammo for the ones I decide to keep.

If I ultimately decide to sell of 1/4 to 1/2 of my collection, I will sell the ones I consider to be the least valuable for use in a tactical or other survival situation. It will be shame if I decide to sell them but the possibility is very real, with these socialist/communist loving and Constitution hating scum in office, that such will be the best course of action for right now.

If we are lucky, a meteorite will hit the House and Senate when in session and take them all out. (No I am not attempting to incite unlawful activity like an insurrection; I am expressing to you how disgusted and frustrated I am over the current course of events in our political standing and future.) America First - after all she is our country made up of none other than us.

What Was I Thinking...

...when I sold my last Mosin Nagant 91/30 a couple of months or so ago - and I do mean the last one I sold as in most recent as well as meaning the last one I had in my collection. Would have sworn I had another 91/30 but the only Mosin Nagant I have now is a Hungarian M44. Damn those little gray cells, the bunch of them! Oh well, I won't be buying a replacement any time soon at current prices. Saw them going (asking price) for up to $800 at the gun show in Longview, TX this past weekend. Imagine that, an Izhevsk Mosin - nothing special in average condition - for $800.00!!!

May Have Fixed The Beretta 1934 This Rainy Afternoon...

...and will try to get it to the range later today to make sure I fixed it properly. It had been misfiring in as much as when the trigger was pulled - sometimes the hammer would drop and the pistol go bang but at other times I'd pull the trigger and it would not activate the hammer. I figured it likely that a part was broken or worn but it seems I was wrong.

As it turned out, once I took off the left grip panel, and fiddled around with some parts, I realized that what turned out to be the Sear Plate Screw was loose. So, when I pulled the trigger, the Trigger Bar would sometimes slide under the Sear Plate instead of pushing the sear plate straight back as it should have done. Tightening the screw seems to have solved that issue but the proof will be in a range trip. (Got those parts names using the nomenclature from an exploded parts diagram at Numrich Gun Parts Corp, see link below.)

This diagram will give a good idea of what I think was the problem. I hope so, I'd like to keep this one.

I hate to use it up but I have pulled 100 rounds out of my meager stock of 380 and am planning to hit the range later today. If there are no misfires in the first 50 rounds, I may just put everything away and call it a good shoot and an excellent but simple repair. As you probably know, 380 ammo is as rare as turtle's teeth and yes they actually each have a single egg tooth when hatchlings, they use it to break the egg shell when coming out into the world (source).

While working on the Model 1934, I came across a couple of helpful web sites/pages. One page, from Numrich Gun Parts Corp. (a site with which I am quite familiar), was specific to the Model 1934. See the page at this link: https://www.gunpartscorp.com/gun-manufacturer/beretta/auto-pistols-ber/1934

The site at the following link is called the Beretta Web. It has a lot of info on Beretta firearms including exploded parts diagrams and indexed parts lists for many models of their guns. See:  http://www.berettaweb.com/sezionati/sezionati.htm. They do not list every Beretta firearm but do show many. Fortunately, they have the exploded parts diagrams and parts lists for a few of my Beretta pistols; although, while they may show a specific gun's parts diagram, they do not always have the parts list for that gun. Still though, a very good source of information, lots of other info therein. This is the link to their home page: http://www.berettaweb.com/.

While searching the Internet for info on the 1934 I also learned that my pistol's serial number indicates it was produced between 1934 & 1942. My guess is, that because of its high serial number of 884XXX, it was probably produced between 1940 and 1942 but I have no way to be certain of that. Being produced within that time frame would indicate to me this was a military weapon being that WWII was in full swing by then; I doubt many if any were being produced for civilian use. I had looked over the pistol before and was uncertain if any of its stampings were military.

Today, I decided to look again after reading the piece at this link. That article indicated that most pistols produced during WWII went to the Regio Esercito (aka: The Royal Italian Army (source). When looking today, the initials RE stamped on the back left side of the frame with a crown stamped over them finally made sense to me. This was undoubtedly an Italian Army issue pistol and I am led to  think it was issued and used during WWII due to its probable range of production dates.

I pray it did not kill any American GI's since Italy was part of the Axis powers. I cannot imagine that there is any way to discover how it was used by the soldier to whom it was assigned and thus I/we probably will never know. Who knows, maybe he shot a Nazi or three with it (at least some post-war tales would have had us believe that the Italians turned on their Axis partners to some extent near the end of the war). Then again, it may never have been fired during the war. An interesting piece nonetheless and one that was obviously well cared for by whomever has owned it during all the years of its existence (it looks to have been barely used). I just hope I fixed it right.

Cuomo Should Be Prosecuted

 https://www.foxnews.com/politics/white-house-federal-probe-ny-covid-nursing-home-deaths

I hope they hang him for the nursing home deaths. I mean that  figuratively of course; although, if legal then maybe literally even though I know it will not happen. I think he is a fiendish criminal.

Can you imagine the outcry if President Trump somehow had ordered Covid-19 patients into nursing homes and then just the initially reported deaths had occurred! That would have resulted in impeachment number 2.

Cuomo amounts to less than a piece of shit in my estimation! What balls to now say everyone did their best when he was seemingly responsible for so many deaths; yet, people keep voting for candidates like him.

Damn It's All Truly Melancholy...

...and absolutely pathetic that as many people in this country voted for Biden as did so (even without the illegal votes - and it is absolute fact that there were indeed illegal votes and other irregularities with regard to the 2020 elections). He has already signed off on enough presidential orders as to steer the economy into a dismal direction and one can only imagine he will continue to sign off on executive orders that will continue in the same course. Then you have the two houses controlled by the leftists which are certain to formulate and pass legislation that Biden will certainly sign and that likely will help destroy not only our economy but our history and our way of life under our Constitution and maybe the Constitution itself or at least the essence of it as meant by the original framers. It just leaves me with a feeling of distress that is heavy on my heart and leaves me with little enthusiasm to blog.

Biden In Since The 20th And...

...over the course of two days, I lost several hundred dollars in the stock market. That is disappointing but not surprising though since two of my stocks are in oil companies. Regardless, I fear it's an omen of things to come. Of course, I as are you, am losing money when it comes to filling up the gas tank too. First time in quite the while I have seen gas almost everywhere over $2.00 per gallon and it is well over hereabouts. Sam's Club though had regular for 1.95 ($1.949) today when I filled up there. Fuck Biden and the camel toe he rode in on!

I've Listened To The Pillow Guy Before...

...on shows like Hannity and maybe with Mark Levin. He is an American success story. He was a junkie who quit the habit, beat his addiction and then who became a successful business man. He is Mike Lindell of MyPillow.com fame. He has a problem though - he is a conservative. Normally that would not be a problem just as being a liberal or a middle of the road type in politics would not be a problem. So exactly what is the problem with him being a conservative - well, the left is seemingly trying to destroy his business from what I have seen. Several nationwide retailers have suddenly dropped his products (source). I find that not at all odd since that is happening exactly at the same time that the left is hoping to deprogram us - us being Trump supporters & conservatives in general and at the same time the left is doing an awful lot to try to silence those on the right such as their attack on Parler that resulted in its shutdown. They are going to keep pushing like this all the while never giving a serious thought as to the outcome. That I am afraid will be a civil war or other insurrection.

For now, I think I am going to order at least one pillow from MyPillow.com - may as well support our own kind and say FUCK YOU to the left while doing so.

Note was just at the MyPillow site and am about to buy a pillow but also am buying another product he sells called Bleed Stop. Sounds like a good thing to have in the first aid kit.

I Dabble In The Stock Market...

...and I do mean I dabble in that I invest in stocks in close to the most superficial way. In November I put 4K into my account and a day or three ago I put another 1K into it, the total I put in was 5K. Right now, my stocks have a value just over 7K. Earning 2K since November with so small an investment makes me happy, kind of wish I had been brave enough to invest more in the same stocks (VSTO, OLN, MRO, BP, VXLLF and HPE).

Of course, I also sell stocks when I think it wise. I just sold off one of the ones I liked the most if not actually THE most. It made me money early last year but I sold it all when it was up high enough for me to consider selling it, that was sometime last year but then I wound up buying more recently (November) and it made me money again. Not much profit - only about $155 net but a gain is a gain and puts a smile on my face.

Did I mention I really liked the stock? It is VSTO (Vista Outdoor Inc.), the company that runs Federal Ammo and such. I only had 30 shares and did not much want to sell it but tomorrow is Biden's day and who knows how long it will be before the demoncrats attempt to pass (and may well pass) all sorts of anti-gun legislation. The one I am most concerned about is a tax on ammo; Schumer has been trying to pass one for years, he tried for a 35% tax on it last year but failed. Now that the dems will control both houses of Congress and the White House I felt it prudent to sell that stock because if they actually do legislate a high tax on ammo, my guess is that stock prices for corporations like Vista Outdoor Inc., OLIN Corp. (the company that runs Winchester), Smith & Wesson Brands Inc and Ruger will fall fast and just about hit rock bottom. Well - maybe not rock bottom if any of them hold government contracts but their values will fall and fall a lot or at least I think so.

I do not really know the stock market, who does! Thus, my logic on when & what to buy and sell could be very faulty. I may wake up tomorrow and find VSTO stock has gone through the roof and if it does - oh well - at least I took home some profit today.

I also have invested in some other things as of late though - semi-precious metals & plastics. As a recent prior blog post of mine explained, I bought a bunch of AR and AK magazines last week because I expect them to be in short demand soon. I also have been buying ammo, a goodly amount of it too. For instance, just yesterday, I ordered 480 rounds of 7.62X54R brass cased ammo  (too bad it is Berdan primed but at least it's made by Prvi Partizan) at a decent price. The price was actually the best price shown on AmmoSeek for any and all 7.62X54R ammo they had indexed. I may have to make a few more ammo purchases today regardless of the current inflated prices, once again I am hedging my finances and my ammo stock with such purchases based on my belief that the demoncrats are going to implement a huge federal tax on ammunition and that they will do it soon.

Anyway, say goodbye to normality today because this may be the last day you see anything even close to normal (and heck there is not much of that even now) once Biden has been sworn in.

Glenn B

I Could Not Agree More...

...with most of the content of this piece about the events on & post January 6th and about the events of the days leading up to and including inauguration day for Biden.  While I agree with the piece though, it does not for one instant make me disbelieve what I wrote in my blog post immediately prior to this one. I truly believe a revolution likely is coming to the USA and coming soon. I hope not but by this point it may be unavoidable. If one civilian protestor is shot and killed by a National Guardsman (or by any LEO), or if a protestor kills any government official, in Washington on inauguration day, it may come much sooner than expected. I hope not, I'd much rather see a takeover of our government through the ballot box and other legal means than to see Americans killing other Americans.

All This Political Shit...

...has got me down in the dumps. Well, that and my infirmities. In the recent past, I have found myself sometimes wishing I was a younger man now and again when I meet an extremely enticingly fine looking woman who acts a bit more than merely distantly friendly toward me. Lately though, I have found myself wishing for my lost youthful vim for a very different reason. That would be because of the current political situation in these United States. I find what the left has been doing to be abhorrent as they openly attempt to destroy our rights & liberties under the Constitution and change our government to another form. They readily accept, with glee, the possibility that they will soon transform this country to a new nation under a new system (to us) such as socialism, fascism or communism or a combination of all three. In other words, they seek to create a tyrannical and oppressive government under which they will rule with an iron thumb.

What loyal American, who has lived by the principles of justice as expressed within our founding legal document - the Declaration of Independence - and who lived by the basic principles of law and rights as set by our Constitution and Bill of Rights would not oppose such a change. The day is coming soon, I think, when an armed revolution will take place though I hope not, I feel it almost unavoidable. Just look at what the dems fear about the inauguration and at how the FBI is vetting national 25,000 Guard troops (source) for Biden's swearing in on January 20th because they fear a conspiracy to assure he will not become president. You do not do that unless you are fairly certain the threat is real. They fear & know (I think we all expect) it is coming - that it being a revolution - and they fear it greatly. What they seem to always ignore is that it will have been their actions that will have spurred it on.

It will not come from the left, almost as it seemed it would beginning last summer when BLM & ANTIFA types protested, then looted, rioted, committed arson, assaults and other crimes to include even homicide while declaring parts of cities to be autonomous zones - all as part of an evident insurrection. That uprising was in some cases actually openly supported by leftists (such as by Kamala Harris out VP elect and local mayors and lib state governors). No, it will not come from there. It will come from the right as evidenced by the attack on the Capital. And mind you, I can call what happened at the Capital nothing more or less than an attack (unplanned, as I believe it to have been for the most part, with most folks merely following others once it started). I believe though the next such actions will be much better planned & organized and will be much more violent.

I'd rather not see any of this happening right now or ever. I would much prefer that we all could live as Americans under the laws of our great nation as set down by our Founding Fathers and by the Framers of the Constitution & the Bill of Rights. Sadly though, forces that would see this nation transformed to a totalitarian state, by whatever means possible (such as the Russian Collusion investigation), will soon make living in our country under our Constitution & Bill of Rights - as free citizens and legal resident aliens - impossible; heck it already is impossible but is about to get much worse in my belief. Well maybe I should say, it will be at least very improbable without an uprising first putting down the forces that seeks to destroy the basis of our laws and transform us into a nation divided and ruled by an oppressive authoritarian form of government.

I do not look forward to that day. If it comes down to an outright revolution to defend & preserve the Constitution & Bill of Rights - I hope to have balls of steel to do the right thing when the time arrives regardless of age or infirmity. I have always stood to defend the Constitution & Bill of Rights in the past and see no reason to stop now; I just hope the mess we are in can be resolved peacefully and that sanity and adherence to the Constitution & Bill of Rights will once again be the norm in the USA.

Someone Said It's Time To Buy Magazines...

...and while I think that wrong (as I believe the time has been ongoing for years), I also think it right relative to what is looming on the near horizon. After the 20th, normal capacity magazines (30 rounds for AKs & ARs) may soon become illegal or otherwise restricted - or they may be taxed beyond belief. Same thing for 15 round or higher capacity pistol magazines. So buy em now before they disappear and or their prices or taxes (or both) go sky high. Of course, the same goes for ammo and firearms - if you can afford them right now. As for mags, most are still available at good prices.

I guess I should add that I have bought a few or more magazines within the last 6 - 8 months or so. The most that I bought for any one type gun were for an AR15. The second most were for Beretta 92 series pistols. Third, probably for my Glock 19. There are several others as well, such as the 6 or so extras I bought when I purchased two Zastava M70 pistols last year and they came with two mags each. The list goes on and on and on and includes speed loaders (not technically magazines but close enough) I bought for my Ruger Redhawk and for my S&W Model 10. In fact, I placed two orders tonight for AR and AK mags.

With the exception of the: steel AK mags, Glock 30 mags, Beretta 950BS mags, Ortgies mags and Savage Axis II mags - everything else was purchased within the last 6 to 8 months. I have quite a few other magazines in a sooper seKrit storage location in addition to these and there are some few to several others in around here with their respective firearms. Get em while still regularly priced! Sadly, I lost all of the above in a boating accident while transporting them to a safe place for storage.

Finding the ammo to fill them all may be a bit expensive right now but just as I recommend buying magazines right now, I also suggest getting ammo right now too as I doubt it's going to get any less expensive under a Biden administration. As for myself, I am all but absolutely certain Schumer will finally be able to legislate his long sought after federal ammunition tax (he tried for 35% in 2019 and I think he may try 50% or higher after January 20th).  If you think a 35% tax on ammo unlikely, think again. Senator Patrick Moynihan (he was another uber-leftist from NY just like is Schumer) had wanted to tax ammo at 10,000 percent (yes that was ten thousand percent). Evidently the leftists think it a good idea (source). Now that they control both houses of Congress and the presidency (or soon will control them) - do you think they will not try to pass such devastating legislation to tax ammo right out of the market. It would likely be years before it went through the Supreme Court and even then, if Biden packs the court or transfers conservative judges out of it to replace them with leftists, who would win the battle!

Of course, such a tax might also create another type of battle and not one fought from the soap box, ballot box or jury box but from that other one. The inevitable truth is that the shit is coming folks & there's a ton of it and it's aimed right at the fan - a very big and powerful fan and that fan evidently is aimed at anyone not playing the commie/socialist/leftist, anti-rights & liberties, Constitution destroying tune. May as well be ready for whatever form it takes: a federal magazine tax, higher prices, a mag buying frenzy spurring shortages, an outright magazine ban, federal troops coming to take away our rights & confiscate our guns, ammo & magazines, armed rebellion or whatever. I am not inciting anything - like an insurgency - just saying it is best to be prepared for what may come and I am sure some bad shit is on its way and stocking up on toilet paper will not be the solution.

Blogging is Just Not The Same Anymore...

...as I am truly concerned that if I post what I think about the current state of affairs in the United States of America, I will be targeted by the government and face arrest and seizure of my firearms and ammo. Not only do I fear that from the government but fear that entities like google will rat me out and try to make it look like I am some sort of terrorist when in fact all I am is a patriotic American. Oh well, I'll have to watch my writing.

Anyway, I may start looking for a platform for my blog that does not rely on Google and that is more American in my point of view since I think Google basically akin to the commies of the world.

By the way, I am now on GAB (actually forgot I've been on it since 2019) and am also on Parler. Will be deleting my Facebook account soon, just getting in some last posts there.

Post Senate Runoff Gun Show

I spent the day the the Kerry Murphy Promotions' Gun Show in Texarkana, AR today. While there were some slow times, especially near the end of the day, the show was mobbed for the most part. I guess being that Christmas has come & gone, that some folks are getting their stimulus checks already, and that the runoff election for the senate seats in GA has been decided with both seats going to the Dems - people are buying as much as they can now in anticipation of the gun & ammo shortages getting even worse under the new administration. My bet is the Dems will legislate a 35 to 50% federal tax on ammunition and firearms (or at least on ammo) and that will be one of the first things they push through after January 20th.

Damn My Inbox

Guess while I've been under the weather, I've not been checking my emails that much. There are currently 1,104 emails in my inbox - all unread. Maybe another 90 in the spam folder. Oh well, had best start at least weeding out the junk and deleting it.

After COVID-19, Feeling Better But Certainly Not Normal

ETA: This post has been edited to add more info mostly on my stay in the ER and to add stuff about my ambulance ride to the ER. I left that out purposefully at first but to tell the whole story it really needed to be included. I am thinking of filing a complaint against the EMT who rode in the back of the ambulance with me and when you read what happened you will understand why. The thing is I am sure no one else, except maybe the driver would remember what he was saying about me and I doubt the driver would back up my side of things.

******************

Just an update on my condition. I am feeling a lot better but still quite weak & fatigued. I guess that will all pass with time, my doc, yesterday, told me it may take up to another month for me to feel much better. She also told me that my immune system must be stressed to the maximum what with the illnesses I've had over the past several months. I find that quite believable considering I've recently been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (confirmation of earlier suspected diagnoses of RA), had a UTI, had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, was diagnosed with a less than normal heart beat efficiency (it does not pump the normal amount of blood with each beat and that was diagnosed close to the height of my several months illness that was finally diagnosed as RMSF), had oral thrush, have severe osteoarthritis in both hips, have hypothyroidism, have gout, have hypertension, have both types of sleep apnea (obstructive and central nervous system), have GERD, have extremely high PSA (and it's been recommended I get a prostate biopsy) and then atop all of that came down with COVID-19.

As far as anyone thinking this illness is not serious, you are out of your minds. I still think the flu is probably the more dangerous but that is based on the Spanish flu of the early 20th century having killed up to an estimated 15 to 100 million and having infected an estimated 500 million or about 1/3 of the world population at the time (source). It may happen again but the thing is there are polyvalent flu vaccinations that seem to do the job at keeping the flu at bay. As for COVID-19, it also is quite dangerous in my opinion and has the potential to become much worse than any version of the flu to date. Here is why I think that:

I am 65 years old. As far as I can remember, in all of my life I have not personally known even one person who died from the flu. In just one year (more or less) I personally have known 4 people who have died from COVID-19. In addition, as far as I am aware, there have only been two times in my life that there have been outbreaks of different versions of the flu in the same year. The last time was in 2009 when the Swine Flu hit. I had the flu that year while on a work assignment in AZ. It was diagnosed as Swine Flu. I can attest, it was pretty bad. Was it as bad as my current/recent bout of COVID-19? That is hard to determine because of vast differences in my health condition from 2009 through now and because of other considerations such as my age.

In 2009, I was relatively in good health. I had what was diagnosed as a branchial cleft cyst in the right side of my neck. I had hypertension and was diagnosed that year with sleep apnea - both types. Otherwise I was pretty healthy and fairly athletic. I got hit hard by the flu but was able to go out with my son when he visited me in AZ (doc told me I was not contagious any longer when he was there but man was I still sick). Going out meant things like we went fishing one day and I fell asleep in 100 degree or so temps while he fished in a lake that was almost boiling and caught one small sunfish as I recall. We tried hiking too but I could not walk more than maybe 100 feet without almost collapsing. I got over it before he left and we had some fun together and actually got in a nice hike or two in the mountains. If 'd have had COVID-19 at the time, I think I would have been in a similar condition but I think it was different having it now than if I would have had it then - that just as i think the same flu may have totally debilitated me or maybe even killed me if I had it now.

The difference now, in my overall health from then, is huge. Read again what I had then and what I have now and bear in mind I also had stage 4 throat cancer in 2011 and the effects of 7 weeks of radiation a several chemo treatments will be debilitating to me for life. Then again, merely those things I had just before coming down with COVID-19 are enough to knock anyone for a loop as far as your immune system goes. Anyone who says to me - you just have the flu has not been paying attention to what I have already written about my health relative to COVID-19 in prior posts. While this illness knocked the crap out of me much as did the swine flu, it also had some additional effects that the swine flu did not. Be that because of my declined health since 2009, my current age, the actual differences in the two diseases or whatever - I do not know.

The differences between my last bout of the flu and COVID-19 are many (and bear in mind I may forget to include something because there are many differences in my symptoms and this stuff played havoc with my little gray cell's ability to remember things while sick). Here are at least some of the differences between my case of COVID-19 and my bout of Swine Flu as for symptoms:

Flu = slight congestion, rapid onset of other symptoms to include: aches & pains throughout my body, extreme fatigue, medium to high fever for a couple to few days, maybe several days (heck it was 11 years ago and hard to remember but I did have fever). Aches and pains remained fairly constant in degree - very bad throughout from day one.

COVD-19 = first two or three days: runny nose, nasal congestion, coughing up some phlegm. After day three or so - gradual development of aches and pains throughout my entire body, loss of taste & smell (on and off). I developed some pretty bad stomach pains too and then diarrhea. My appetite in the first 12 days or so was almost nonexistent. Someone who saw me outside my apartment, when I took out the pooch, was aghast at how much weight she thought I had lost. Best I can figure (from my weight at doctor yesterday and what I recall it to have been) is I lost about 10 -  12 pounds within the first 10 days or so. I do not think I lost an
y weight when I had the flu but really do not recall for certain. After realizing I was losing weight that was so noticeable to others, I forced myself to eat more and have already gained some back. I am taking probiotics to fight the runs.

The cough continued steadily, though only a few coughs a day most days, through at least day 12. I coughed up blood for at least a few days prior to going into the ER on day 10 (after diagnosis); more on that to come below. Blowing my nose also produced blood in that same time frame, often more than when I coughed. I still have the sniffles (runny nose) just a bit or actually those came back yesterday.

My hip pain increased markedly throughout the first week (then got somewhat better probably because I was sleeping 16 to 20 hours a day throughout the first week and a half or so and was not walking much at all). It has gotten worse now I am up and about again.

I had a fever every day from about day 2 or 3 (after diagnosis) up and through day 13. The fever came and went each day; the highest I recorded was 101.8 but I am certain it got higher at one point when I had forgotten my thermometer downstairs and I was in bed sweating and freezing and shivering at the same time until it broke. Most days, the fever ran between 100.4 and 100.8 degrees - not high but recurrent. Sometimes I  was feverish up to three times in a day separated each time by the fever breaking for a couple or few hours. This was extremely different from the fever with the flu which was more or less constant until it broke and that was it.

On about day 10 (after diagnosis) I was out walking my dog. (I had to walk her because no one would board her because I had COVID-19; in fact two people were extremely nasty toward me because I evidently had the nerve to piss them off by notifying them I had this disease & then asking them to board my dog.) Anyway, while out on that walk, the world started spinning. I do not mean mild light-headedness - I mean spinning like when a very drunk person lays down in bed and tries to sleep and it seems like they are on their way to visit the Wizard of Oz as the tornado picks up the house and spins it wildly. I also had a sudden onset of severe shortness of breath and pain in the center of my chest while breathing (both in an out but more on the inward breath). I more or less collapsed to my knees purposefully because I realized I was about to pass out. I bent over and lowered my head and after several minutes was able to unsteadily regain my footing & wobble over to a park bench and sat down. I sat there for how long only my dog Skye knows as she sat patiently by my side looking at me as if she knew something was not right in our world that day.

At the moment I went down to my knees - with the extreme dizziness, sudden extreme shortness of breath and chest pain while breathing - I was thinking maybe that was it for me! That truly is how bad I felt at that moment and it was scary. The flu never even came close to doing any of that to me. It took me quite the time to regain my willpower to try to walk home and then to continue the 1/4 mile or less to get there. My best guess, is that it took me 20 to 30 minutes after getting up from the bench where I had rested for an unknown amount of time (I will venture a guess of maybe 15 minutes to a half hour or so).

I was all alone except for my mongrel Skye - there was not another person in sight to look to for help and man I wanted help and wanted it badly; no phone either, I had forgotten it in my living room. That feeling of being on my own, except for Skye, was frightening but I had been there before and was determined to get home no matter what and having Skye with me was somehow comforting and gave me strength of will. I went to the ER that day, via ambulance. (I dread getting the bill for that even though a representative of Blue Cross told me they would pay for it despite charges for an ambulance usually not being allowed under my health plan; she said because it was due to COVID they would pay and I hope she was correct.) That was day 10 or so after diagnosis, and I went to the ER as per the recommendation of my doctor when I called her office that day upon getting home from the dog walk in the park (she apparently had forgotten all about that when I saw her yesterday).

Let me just say some things about the ambulance ride (and this piece was edited to add all of this on the night of the same day I wrote the rest of it). The EMT who was in the back of the bus with me was a pompous piece of shit - there is no other way to describe him as I see him. He was from McCallen, TX or close to it. He boasted about how he was a special volunteer and how he had been trained to do what he was doing and was sent to northeast TX to save us - yes he said to save us. Then, after a good few minutes of his braggadocio, he finally asked me about my situation. Somewhere in there he remembered to put on his protective gas mask - that is what he donned. I told him I had been out walking Skye and about what happened. He immediately began to berate me in a nasty and condescending tone telling me I was spreading COVID-19 because I went outside. I explained the diagnosing nurse practitioner told me it would be fine to walk my dog so long as I wore a mask and practiced social distancing avoiding other people by at least six feet (quite easy to do in that part at this time of year and considering the whole COVID thing and I did not come within probably 30 to 40 feet of anyone while out with her except the one woman from the apartment complex who said it looked as if I had lost weight and she already had been infected and survived a bout of COVID-19).

He then implied, almost said it straight out, that I was lying as he actually said no doctor had told me it would be okay to walk my dog (which he was right about because as I said it had been a nurse practitioner but he was wrong in the essence of what he was saying). He then told me that what I was supposed to have done was to have locked myself in my apartment by closing and locking all my windows and doors and then staying inside for two weeks (the urgent care facility I went to when diagnosed recommended 10 days to 14 days and the braggart also said outright that no one told me 10 days even though I have it in writing).

hen he lectured me on how it was common sense that I should have done everything he had said because it is the only way to prevent the spread of this disease - locking one's self away in complete isolation. I was going to bring up the study from Europe, I believe by the Dutch, that showed the ineffectiveness of lock-downs but held off. I did tell him no one would care for my dog and thus I had to take her out (figuring he would see the common sense in that being a necessity instead of allowing my dog to answer nature's potty call inside my apartment on the carpeting) and was about to ask him what he thought I should have done when my dog needed to defecate or urinate.  I again held off because I realized trying to make sense to this guy was like talking to a rock with lips.

He had an overwhelming sense of self importance and machismo as far as I could tell. He actually kept puffing up his chest while lecturing me and spoke down to me in a rude and nasty manner and kept repeating it was common sense not to walk my dog and to lock both of us up in my apartment. At one point I finally asked him if all of it was common sense why he needed all the training. He finally shut up when I asked that and got to taking my ID. As he did that, he began to talk to the driver. His words, although not exactly as I remember them I am sure, were at least very close to these in what he said and definitely had exactly the same meaning as these I write here: 'Hey you want to hear what this guy says. He says his doctor told him he could go out and walk his dog and spread the virus. Can you believe that. No one told him that, can you believe he walked his dog and spread the virus...' On and on he went along that line of arrogantly putting me down.

When he gave me my ID back, holding it in a piece of paper towel (and not wearing gloves - so much for his supposed training) I asked him if he would like my health insurance information. I said, and I quote as best I can recall: "Your insurance information is the least of my worries."  and he refused taking it. Then he ranted on again about how foolish it had been for me to walk my dog. When we got to the hospital a few minutes later, after some radio communication with the ER, he opened the side door of the ambulance and guess what I heard - he immediately started to say to someone something to the effect of: 'Hey do you want to know what this guy said. He said his doctor told him it was okay for him to walk his dog and spread the virus.' He told that, in sum & substance, to at least two other people. One as he wheeled me into the ER - an orderly or whatever you call them who tried to assist him (and he puffed up is chest again and nastily told the guy he did not want or need his help) and then he told the first nurse who attended to me the same thing in essence as he had told the others. I am almost willing to bet he is still telling that to folks today.

Allow me to get to the ER and normal medical personnel. I got immediate attention while there. They ran lots of blood tests (had to do them over because my blood coagulated while waiting to be tested), they also did a EKG, took chest x-rays in my room and hours later finally did a CT Scan of my chest. I saw the same doctor there two or three times, saw the nurse on the afternoon shift several times (his name was Andrew and he is from Las Vegas - he was also a volunteer) and I saw the nurse on the night shift even more than Andrew. By the way, did I mention it already - her name was Lucy and she was rather cute and very personable and quite caring - certainly one of the best nurses I have ever met in an ER. She spent quite a bit of time caring for me. She too was from or near McCallen, TX and right after I described the pompous buffoon from the ambulance to her, I realized I may have screwed up and hoped he was not her husband. As it was, I got the idea she knew the guy and that she thought likewise about him as did I (maybe she was his wife after all and knew him to be just as I described).

While there I was diagnosed with what they told me was COVID Pneumonia but not bad enough to require a ventilator. After spending most of the day and night there, I was sent home either very late that night or very early next morning (I do not know the exact time) with a tank of oxygen. They called a cab for me. I protested that and the nurse Lucy told me there would be an approximate 10-12 hour wait for an ambulance and the cost would be approximately $2,000 and I would have to pay because ambulance rides home were not considered a medical necessity. That blew my mind (man I hope Blue cross comes through on the ambulance ride to the ER). Lucy was able to talk me into taking a cab. She gave me an N-95 tight fitting face mask for the ride. She also instructed me not to talk to the driver more than absolutely necessary and said everything would be fine because as she put it, they unknowingly transport COVID positive people all the time (I swear she told me all of this). Being pretty debilitated physically and mentally at the time, I was not thinking straight or would have refused the taxi and instead would have demanded some other form of non-ambulance but medical transport. As it turned out,I took the cab.

Anyway, the window was open for the ride home, I made sure of that. As for the driver, being I had the tank of oxygen and such and looked half dead, I am pretty sure he guessed what I had. It is truly unthinkable that hospitals, after about a year of this, would not have set up a transportation system for patients that did not involve ambulances or risking a taxi driver getting this illness. We were at my place in about 10 minutes so at least we were not together long in the cab. I gave him about an $8.00 tip, the ride was $12 or so. He was amazed; he said he usually is happy if the passenger has the whole fare that is due him let alone gives him any tip at all - such is life in Texarkana.

Home and on oxygen. When the oxygen tank ran out a day or two later it was replaced with a machine that evidently extracts oxygen from the air and I have been using that since. That was delivered to my apartment and set up by a technician. He was not concerned that I had COVID-19 and was fully aware of the fact I had it as I told him as soon as he arrived and before he came into my apartment. He said that is mostly with whom he had dealt lately - COVID patients.

One other note on the ER. Why they did not hydrate me at the hospital is a mystery. I was obviously dehydrated that particular day and passed maybe an ounce of urine when asked for a sample and it was very dark. It took at least an hour or two to get even a sip of water from them at first. I thought I had been hydrating okay at home but must have slacked off due to sleeping so much. Once they finally gave me a couple of small cups of water and then a huge one (by the nurse on the night shift - quite the cutie did I say already and just outright very attentive) that cleared up but the night nurse told me my kidney function (usually excellent) was not very good that day. My regular doc explained to me yesterday that merely could have been because of dehydration alone as my kidney function, tested shortly before I was diagnosed with COVID, had been excellent as usual. Hopefully it is back to the same already or will be soon.

Moving on to the now: I have continued to be very fatigued since I passed the recommended number of quarantine days - 10 days (or 14 if the patient has a fever beyond that). I went longer than even the 14 days, I think it was 17 days in quarantine because my fever was still present on day 13 after diagnosis. Then I went to see my doctor, that was yesterday. I feel much better now but still not very good, in fact still pretty fatigued and ill in that regard. I still have the sniffles and a bit of a cough (when I wake up) but am no longer coughing up blood, no longer have a fever, and most of my aches and pains are gone.

As to the flu symptoms, back in 2009, as best I can remember, once the flu's fever passed the flu and ll its aches & pains and such itself cleared up fairly quickly. I am guessing a week after the fever was gone. Right now, I still feel very fatigued from COVID-19; my doc told me I may feel this way for another month. I do not look forward to feeling out of it for that much longer but do look forward to being completely rid of the symptoms of COVID-19.

That is what COVID-19 has done to me so far. As they say, your mileage may vary - some folks suffer almost nothing, others much worse than me and of course hundreds of thousands has died from it.

And to think, now they say there is a new strain out already in a year or so after the first and it makes it easier to catch the disease. I don't remember the flu ever doing that - not that it changes from year to year but that it remains in full force throughout the year, ravaging the the community & continuing to claim new victims while it changes itself into a new version before the preexisting one has disappeared. Besides all that, I truly believe this to be a man-made virus, as in for use in germ warfare or population control and believe in my heart that the chi-coms either unleashed it purposefully (my bet) or accidentally but what does either matter now that it has been released? (That was rhetorical question -retribution and responsibility is why it matters now.) Here is hoping the vaccinations work and that as many people as possible get them. You don't want one - fine by me but don't start an argument with me because I hope they work and that people get them.

Stay healthy my friends,
Glenn B

PS: give me a few days and I may actually read all of what I wrote  & proof read this.(ETA: well it took less than a day.)

still Fighting It

Just an update. I got out of ER late Monday night or early Tuesday. Sent me home with a tank of oxygen.  I hooked myself up to that once I got home. Then I slept all day yesterday. They told me at the ER I had pneumonia due to covid-19 so I am just as surprised as anybody that they sent me home but the doctor said it was not so bad. Bad enough for the oxygen though which reminds me I have to call to get another tank. Thank you to everyone who keeps checking up on me and wishing me well. I think I'm going to beat this, feel a little bit better today than in last 10 days.

it's taken a turn for the worse

I'll be going to the emergency room today as soon as I can get there. My covid has taken a turn for the worse, I...

I wrote that several hours ago. Am in ER now, been here maybe an hour, where I almost cannot believe the speed of care I am receiving. I guess Covid patients rate A1. Everyone being great. Waiting on CT Scan of chest.

Finally found a place to board Skye while I am in hospital. A&B Animal Rescue of SW Arkansas, the rescue where I got her. It is the only place that would take her and Corinna Alexander, the lady who runs the place, agreed without hesitation to take her in knowing I have Covid.

My son drove down from Benton to.pick up Skye and they are on their way to rescue now.

I hope no one catches this because of me.

All the best

Merry Christmas To All

I wish all of you a Merry Christmas who celebrate and to those who did not I hope you have a merry day at least had ahappy Festivus for the rest of us.

Unless you're probably wondering about my bout with.  I am still at home and still breathing on my own and that's making for about as Merry a Christmas as someone with this illness could have. In all I am pretty miserable but happy to be holding my own so far. Fever here, then gone, then back, exhaustion and lots of pain. Hoping to beat it soon.

Feeling Like Shit...

...but hanging in there and doing my best to fight the Covid-19. I've been sleeping anywhere from 16 to 20 hours a day over the past three days. The hardest thing during each of my days, besides trying to stay awake, has been walking the mongrel. I am lucky that Skye remains mellow even though her activity level has been cut drastically die to me being ill. When all this is over, I plan to cook her a nice bloody medium rare ribeye steak and if the hips allow to take her for a nice long walk.

As for me, I've got most of the classic symptoms: tiredness, weakness, coughing up phlegm (though not much coughing), runny nose, mucous when I blow my nose, sore throat, fever, loss of taste and smell (or at least a great reduction to both but I can still taste a bit especially salt and I could smell OJ faintly), general body aches. Luckily, I cannot smell myself, have not had the energy to take a shower in 3 days. I tried to get into the tub a few times but with the hips hurting so badly and now the weakness from the Covid, it's been impossible for me to get my leg high enough to get in there. Feeling somewhat better right now and if I still feel this way tomorrow, I'll do whatever it takes to shower; washing with a damp washcloth does not cut it. They have me taking a Z-pack and some cough medicine as needed but I've only had the cough syrup twice. The odd thing is as soon as I started the antibiotics my joint pains started to feel somewhat better; while they still hurt (especially my hips and lower back) that needs to be looked into because it has happened the last three times I was prescribed antibiotics.

What amazes me about all this is the coincidence that within two or three months, I've had two potentially fatal diseases. They say third time pays for all and I am not looking forward to a third should it be headed my way.

All the best,
Glenn B
