Taurus Recall Alert

Thanks to this post: Taurus To Recall Almost One Million Pistols, over at The Vulgar Curmudgeon, I found out about a potential Taurus pistol recall.

" The settlement affects customers who bought the following models sold between 1997 and 2013 in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam:  PT-111 Millennium; PT-132 Millennium; PT-138-Millennium; PT-140 Millennium; PT-145 Millennium; PT-745 Millennium; PT-609; PT-640; and PT-24/7." I own a Taurus PT145 Millennium Pro; so, I went to the Taurus website to look for information. I found nothing about the recall. I then contacted Taurus through their online chat (a connection to their chat appeared on the lower right hand corner of their home page). As it turned out, I was in chat for about 40 minutes (about 12 minutes of which was waiting before I was connected with someone).

The result: The Taurus representative gave me the service order number and Taurus already emailed me a FedEx label to send them the pistol for inspection and possible repairs. The rep also told me: "Due to the overwhelming response we do not have an ETA for the inspection completion."

I'm not at all happy that I have to send it in but am quite satisfied with their customer service so far.

I guess I will not be bringing that pistol to the 8th Annual Northeast Bloggershoot as I had planned for this coming weekend.

A hat tip and my thanks to Phil over at The Vulgar Curmudgeon for the heads up.

All the best,
Glenn B
