Clinton Complains About Fake News - Is She Serious Or Delerious...

If You Carry A Self Defense Handgun - ALWAYS Carry Extra Ammo

I can not say it more strongly than I said it in the title of this blog post but I am sure that just the title is not enough to convince many that carrying extra ammunition in spare magazines or speedloaders is a necessity.

To be quite frank and I say this with all due respect, if you carry a handgun for self defense and do not have either a spare magazine, speedloader, or some other form of rapid reloading device readily accessible on your person, I believe you to be quite foolhardy. Nothing personal in that, this is discussion of the topic of carrying extra magazines and not of any particular person's preferences. I  have witnessed first hand, and have seen and heard reports of, many of the things that can go wrong when shooting and when shooting a semi-auto pistol one of the things that often goes wrong is the magazine whether due to user error or mechanical malfunction. They who think nothing can go wrong really need to pay attention. Here is a list of some of the things I have seen go wrong relative to magazines whether mechanical failure or user induced:

-The magazine base/floor plate falls off of the magazine and all the ammo left in the mag falls out with it (usually due to shoot error in reassembling a magazine).

-The magazine falls out of the pistol taking whatever ammo is in it for the ride (sometimes due to one or the other of shooter error or mechanical failure of the pistol).

-The magazine does not feed properly due to damaged lips.

-The magazine does not feed properly due to worn or damaged spring.

-The magazine does not feed properly due to lint buildup or other foreign material inside the mag body.

-The magazine does not feed ammo due to improper loading of rounds within it. Once had a shooter load an AR magazine with one round pointing forward and the next pointing backward because she was told that the mag caused the rounds to be double stacked in a staggered fashion and she thought that meant loading it with one round pointed forward and the other backwards. Yes, she was in federal law enforcement!

-The magazine does not feed properly because of improper ammo. (I have seen this more than once, a shooter mixes 9mm and 40 S&W ammo in the same mag. Happened with old generation  Glock mags (but I guess it could have and probably has happened with others). Guy loaded 9mm into his 9mm magazine, picked up a 40S&W (that some else had been loading into a 40 caliber pistol) and loaded it in with the 9mm. First one or few being 9mm went off fine, then the 40 S&W would not feed. Tapped, racked, assessed/reengaged - nothing. Locked slide back, stripped mag (luckily the 40 fell out then), reloaded with fresh fully loaded mag, assessed/reengaged. With another shooter who did likewise none of that worked, the nose of the 40 was stuck in the chamber as I recall, that was also with a Glock.

-The magazine does not feed at all because the shooter placed an empty magazine into the weapon.

Then there are failures relative to the firearm and or ammo that also can be due to either shooter or mechanical failure and that that may require a new mag be used, to name a couple:

-Double feed.

-Failure to eject.

There also are the cases in which the shooter fires all of the rounds in the magazine or cylinder and the assailants are still posing a threat of serious bodily injury or death to him or her. Many shooters make the mistake of believing all they need are the amount of rounds in the mag or cylinder because they are excellent shots. The thing is, once you are involved in a life or death situation and have to shoot to defend yourself, there are factors that have an effect that are not usually experienced at the range. There are the more usually discussed effects of a self defense life or death confrontation such as these: You get tunnel vision, you become tense, you grip your handgun harder than ever, you forget all about trigger control, your sight picture goes to hell, you have to point shoot, you have gloves on, you shoot all of your ammo in your one mag at one assailant and don't realize there are two more until out of ammo, you are shaking and you are wound up due to an adrenalin rush, you are tired from a long day, you are groggy because you just were awakened by breaking glass in your home, you are not feeling 100% and maybe are ill with a cold or aches and pains of arthritis, the bad guys are not standing still and you have never practiced on moving targets because your range does not allow it, the bad guys have made effective use of cover, the bad guys are wearing body armor, the bad guys are shooting at you and you are moving, bobbing, weaving and seeking cover if not already behind it.

In addition to all those is the less discussed often shunned (by firearms instructors too embarrassed to discuss it I suppose) issue of the bad guys shooting or otherwise trying to harm you and you are peeing or shitting your drawers. I am not kidding about that. One of the things least talked about by firearms instructors concerning conditions a shooter can experience in a life or death situation, and again I mean this seriously, is the pucker factor or loss of it. People involved in life or death situations sometimes actually defecate or urinate while so involved and do so quite involuntarily because of the loss of pucker ability of their sphincter muscles. You muscles that hold in feces and urine just give as everything else tenses. Are you going to be able to shoot as well as at the range if you realize you just shit or peed in your pants? You made need that extra ammo after all.

Please note how many times I said bad guys as opposed to bad guy in the above paragraph. There is a reason for it mostly being bad GUYS, that is because the majority of confrontations you are likely to encounter like: being mugged, being taken hostage, a burglary gone really bad, a forcible entry into your home (home invasion), walking into a bank robbery, winding up in the middle of and being beaten by a gang of wilding thugs, turning down a street and suddenly being surrounded by rioters, winding up being in a Bernie Goetz type situation and so on usually involve bad guys (as in multiple assailants) and not a single lone attacker. Even if a lone assailant attacks you, what do you do if he is hopped up on Angel Dust, Meth or some new designer drug and he keeps coming even though you hit him seven times. Yes, it can and has happened that bad guys have been hit many times, even in presumably fatal zones, without being stopped.

I know - you (whoever you are) are an excellent shot, all you need is one round for each bad guy and you can take out seven of them with your all powerful 45 auto. Then along comes number 8 and if you doubt that can happen or may happen just look to recent riot scenes and tell me how many assailants were in those. To that you also have an answer, whoever you are, that you will shoot and every one if not shot dead, and whether hit or not will take the advice of the knights, in the movie Monty Python And The Holy Grail when they were confronted by the vicious white rabbit. Don't count on it, you fighting back might make them angrier.

Okay, so you watched the video, got a chuckle out of it and took all that I wrote above with a grain of salt because you have been doing it your way for many years. If you ever had an encounter you won or at least survived or maybe never had any encounters and figure you never will. Thus you carry only enough ammo to fully load your handgun. I cannot say more strongly though what I believe about carrying extra ammo and that is that I almost always carry at least two fully loaded extra mags or speedloaders and sometimes carry more ammo than that and so should you if you carry.

If you do want to take my advice based on 32 years in LE and about 15-16 years with collateral duties as a LE firearms instructor (and I have recertified as such twice since retirement) then go to the below link and read the very interesting and enthralling article to be found there. Then imagine that guy tried to rob you, rape you, beat you to a pulp, forcibly enter your home, or do whatever other nasty deed he could do to you, your spouse, your children or other loved ones and you tried to stop him with whatever ammo was in gun and you had no spare ammo. If you do not start carrying at least some extra magazines or speedloaders after reading it and thinking about being confronted by the likes of a bad guy even only half as resilient as him, you may very well have an unconscious death wish.

A Lefty's Paradise Eatery = Failure

What more could a dyed in the wool leftist want in a restaurant than to have: it run under the communist model under which the workers controlled everything, it have an ever changing open for business schedule because of the whims of its employees, customers had to wait up to 40 minutes to get a sandwich, it be completely vegan and have a Facebook page on which the staff spewed forth commie and socialist gibberish? I suppose that something nasty tasting to a leftist, like turning enough profit to remain in business, would not be on the list but maybe it should have been. Bartertown Diner has closed its door for the last time according to this report because it evidentallly was a dismal failure that did not turn enough profit to pay the bills.

I think it's time to the folks who worked there to forget about the fantasies of Karl Marx, get a real job and pass the bacon.

I Am A Certified...

...nut Glock Advanced Armorer for the next 5 years. Which in essence, in NY state, allows me to work on my own Glock pistol(s). God forbid someone else wanted me to work on his and we did not go through an FFL to transfer the Glock to me and then back to the owner - yes, NY State law is that crazy. Of course, if I was an FFL  (and got whatever other license NYS required) I might be able to do such work legally here in Newyorkistan (the anti-gun fervor here is as bad as religious extremism if not worse).

Oh well, at least now if I need them in the next 5 years, Glock will sell parts directly to me and I can work on my own Glock(s). I suppose, if I wanted to move to the Atlanta area, I could also get a job with Glock or if lucky I might find a job in a decent gun store up this way.

Stabbed Officer Gets Up And Chases Her Attacker...

...but for the life of me, I do not understand why she did not shoot him instead of chase him. The guy just tried to kill her but luckily her body armor helped deflect several stabs; yet, she received two stab wounds one in an arm ad the other in a shoulder (source). Did she not shoot him because both arms were disabled from the wounds; I doubt it since she was treated and released from the hospital - so again - why did she not shoot him. He was an escaped violent felon - a lifer. He had just stabbed her. He was fleeing and to anyone except maybe an ultra-liberal - he should have been seen as posing an imminent threat of loss of life or serious injury to anyone he encountered. Hell, he even tried to enter a school shortly after stabbing the officer - imagine what mayhem could have taken place had he taken refuge therein with children inside! Luckily he did not run over to the school's playground, where children were at the time, and take any hostage.

What was the officer thinking. Her boss calls her brave to have chased him and I guess that is so but I also wonder - was she afraid of shooting him and the outcome she might have to face had she done so. I believe that the leftists and lawyers (pretty much one and the same) in this country have police second guessing what they should do in such situations and sooner or later the outcome will be a chilling one. I also believe that may be the case (second guessing and uncertainty on the officer's part) here but that is just my guess. For all I know, she may not have fired because the children were in the path of any shot she could have taken. I hope that is the reason and not the other I just more or less surmised.

I Find The Strangest Oddities In The Woods

I was stealthily walking through the lightly snow dusted woods a couple of weeks ago, hoping to bag a deer, when  came across something I have never found in the woods before. From a distance, it was at first what appeared to my eye to be nothing special if maybe a bit odd as to its location. As I drew closer though, I noticed a hole in the middle of it. I thought maybe it was an Indian artifact or something left behind from a bygone era of industry in the area. Then again though, the odd placement of it almost certainly ruled those things out.

The closer and closer I came to it, my little gray cells were left with pretty much one and only one idea of what it might have been and that was it had been someone's target. Still though, that was hard for me to believe because it would have been an odd choice for a target if not unique. Yet, it sure looked as if it had been used that way. Again, that was considering its placement because surely rocks do not naturally jump up onto the tops of fallen trees as this one had been placed. I made a bit of a detour from my chosen direction and headed over to it to take a better look.

As I got closer, I was almost convinced someone had taken aim at it and put a hole right through it even though I would have thought that would have resulted in it having been shattered into hundreds of pieces. This stone though was intact except for a fairly clean hole through its center from what I could see as I walked toward it. I kept trying to reason why someone would use a rock as a target and trying to rationalize that I must have been wrong in my assumption by thinking so - and I thought "no, it must be a drill hole". The closer I got though, the more I thought it was a bullet or slug hole, again based a lot on the stone's positioning.

An up close examination of the front of it and then of its back convinced me - the hole had either been made by a bullet or slug and I am guessing by a bullet from a high powered rifle; I think a slug would have shattered the stone and only a rifle bullet make as clean a hole but who knows. On its backside, it looked like an exit hole that a bullet or slug would make and that is what convinced me it had been used as a target. Now, am not a stone mason, don't know much about drilling holes though stone, but figure had that hole been drilled the exit hole would have been much cleaner - heck even the entry hole would have looked tighter. Anyway, why on earth would someone drill a hole in a stone like that and then perch it on a tree in the middle of a forest? It was on state land, during deer hunting season, and a lot of once a year shooter types were out and about and one of them forgetting to go to the range to sight in his rifle and still needing to do so once in the woods seemed the more likely cause.

This is the only shot taken with the flash, which really brought out its colors.
So, I cannot imagine this was anything other than a target, a one shot one at that. I guess whoever shot it must have thought his (or  her) rifle was sighted in properly. Something else I cannot imagine is me, my son, or any responsible hunter (or other gun owner) going out into the woods and setting up a fairly thick rock as a target. This was not a thin piece. The pen, used for scale, in the below photo is approximately 5/16 - 11/32 of an inch wide. The thickness of the stone was about 2 3/4 to 3 times as wide as the pen at center. That makes it about 1 " thick - more or less at center.

I can think of plenty of better things to shoot at in the woods as a target. Stumps of long dead trees (never shoot at live trees due to ricochet potential) immediately come to mind. Old plastic bottles or old soda/beer cans. Those last are not in abundance in the woods but with a little looking you can find one or more left behind by slobs. If not  out in the forest then a short walk back to the road, this stone was only a couple hundred or so yards from the road, would have you pretty easily find a can, bottle or other piece of trash more suitable as a target.

I imagine maybe someone dropped his rifle and was concerned if it was still zeroed, or as I said above may have forgotten to go to the range before going afield, but I still see no good reason to use a rock as a target. As for taking one shot, one shot does not tell all. It could have been a fluke but if the shooter knows his or her abilities it might have been enough to let him or her know the rifle was still zeroed - unless of course the recoil of that first shot changed that. Regardless of why the person needed or wanted to take a shot - a friggin rock was not a good choice of target. I think that even Elmer J. Fudd would have known better.

75 Years Ago Today

The United States of America was hit by a peacetime surprise attack at Pearl Harbor from the Imperial Empire of Japan. We ended WWII with a bigger surprise attack during the war, the two most devastating bombs ever to be used in wartime. Many were killed but in fact man lives were saved by those bombs because the death toll would have been higher had we needed to invade mainland Japan. It is a shame we have not learned how to live in peace since then but as much as I would love to see word peace, I would not hesitate to do likewise, against any nation or group that attacked our country, in order to save American lives and put an end to any war waged against us.

Take a moment today to remember and keep in your prayers the men and woman (military and civilian) who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor. There were 2,403 of them (source) who made the ultimate sacrifice that day. Also keep in memory and in your prayers all those U.S. Servicemen and women who perished in the war that followed.

The attack on Pearl Harbor was the largest American loss of life, during a single attack by a foreign enemy, on U.S. soil prior to the attacks on 9/11 where in the World Trade Center alone 2,606 people died (not including those in the planes that struck the towers).

It Could Have Been A Hot Time In The Old Town Tonight...

...or at least yesterday afternoon. That was when NYPD officers reportedly arrested a man who was acting erratically and carrying matches and a can containing what smelled like gasoline. He was also reportedly carrying a book -  Son Of Hamas. He was nearby to the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center according to this report.

I Hate Lawyers in General But I'd Hire One...

...to sue any business on which premises I was injured because I was unable to defend myself because guns were not allowed therein. Well, I would sue if such an option was open to me. It might soon become a reality in MO where an incoming representative has proposed a bill allowing for such; the law in essence says: so you want a gun free zone then be responsible for anyone legal gun owner who gets injured and who was not carrying because of your no guns rule. More here. Sounds right on target to me.

Chaos Throughout The Land...

...is likely to be the result if the Never-Trumpers have their way and are able to create chaos in the electoral college. That would be chaos that leads to someone else being chosen as the president and it seems to be the plan of those who despise trump and want to keep RINOS, libterds and leftists (source) in power in our land. I would not be a bit surprised if such led to an armed insurrection against whichever government they chose to replace Trump if they succeed in doing so. I must say though, I do not find it likely. I think most people in  this country, who are citizens, are sick of these arrogant politicized nannies who think they know better for American than the voters of this country.

We May Have Christmas Season Riots Yet

I guess I was wrong when I wrote that: "I don't think there will be riots after the verdict...mostly because I cannot see the jury of ex-police officer Michael Slager not guilty in his prosecution for shooting and killing Walter Scott in South Carolina in April 2015". Not wrong in exactly what I said, since there has not been a verdict handed down, but wrong in that I certainly never would have believed there would be a hung jury (in this first trial) and because I was pretty certain he would be found guilty.

No verdict but no conviction either - the first trial has resulted in a hung jury. At first it sounded like a mistrial would be called because, on Friday, the jury indicated that a lone juror refused to convict but as of yesterday, the jury sent out another note indicating
that "...the majority of jurors were undecided and then requested explanation of legal terms critical to the case, such as malice and self-defense" (source). Wow, this is only conjecture bt it almost sounds as if the lone holdout from Friday may have pulled a Twelve Angry Men sort of a thing and turned some of the others against a guilty verdict - who knows!

As for myself, I am totally flabbergasted that he was not found guilty but do not fault the system that we have in place. His fate is in the hands of jurors and not we who do not have all the facts that the jurors have seen or heard . It seems at least one of them may truly have believed he or she had reasonable doubt after hearing those facts and then apparently swayed some of the others since.

It will be retried, that is almost a certainty. I will again be absolutely amazed if a not guilty verdict is the result. Then again,  I base that only on what I have seen by way of the media - those stalwart supporters of lies, injustice and the communist way. Really though, I cannot see how he will not be convicted in light of the video that was made of the shooting but you never know until the verdict is read.

Next Best thing If Not Moving To Canada

Well, if she promised to move to Canada, if Donald Trump won the election, and then did not move ( and I don't know that she did or did not make that promise), Joy Behar is what probably amounts to the next best thing. She is calling it quits as host of The View (source). Oh how overjoyed daytime television watchers must be, at least those with half a brain and who can think for themselves.  I wonder though if there will be tears, angst and gnashing of teeth in Lefturbia (aka: Leftistan) tonight upon the libs hearing that news.

Truthfully,  I don't know her from a hole in the wall, as the saying goes, except for what I have heard on the news now and again and from little I saw of her on that show and heard in discussions but let me say that was enough. I maybe watched about an hour or two total of The View over the course of several different airings over the years (mostly in waiting rooms). I always found it grossly distasteful and idiotic for the brief amount of time I watched it. She and her associates on the show seemed akin to Bill Maher, just a few more lame comedians imagining and self appointing themselves as experts on politics, social matters, national defense and affairs, international affairs and whatever else they chose to discuss. That is if you could actually call their rants discussions. The truth be told, they mostly seemed like a bunch of useless twits to me. Good riddance is what I think.

Black Furniture Ouch

My advice - never stay in a hotel that has black or very dark furniture. Stayed at a pretty nice hotel in Binghamton, NY Saturday night, this weekend. Nice place, with corteous staff and all but they had black furniture. The problem with that was the corner if the bed frame, a pretty sharp corner at that, stuck out at least a few inches  to several more than the corner of the mattress. So, when I got up in the middle of the night to use the facilities, I easily saw the mattress by the night light but did not see the corner of the very heavy wood bed frame and slammed the side of my knee into it hard.

It is not much to look at but man does it hurt. The knee and leg hurt good deal when I did it and even more yesterday such as when I was walking on it to my stand while hunting yesterday. I pretty much just plopped down in one spot and sat there. Even left my stand a half hour earlier than expected, to have enough time to hobble out of the woods so I could leave by my planned departure time. Last night, after the 3.5 hour drive home the knee was stiff as a board and swollen some too. Hurt like hell to get up on it and walk. The scrape is not bad but the bone/joint was very painful and there is a small bump at one point that still hurts like hell if I touch it or when going up and down the stairs or just walking too much. I must have bruised the bone. Just got a call to work today and had to decline because it still hurts that badly.

Oh well, next time I will stay somewhere with normal beds, where the easily seen white outline of the white mattress and white blankets (yes they were all white and easy to see as opposed to the bed frame/stand) mattress marks the outer limit, or very close to it, of the bed.

Another Rod & Gun Auction To My Credit

Or should I say, Another Hessney Auction on My Credit Card!

On Friday afternoon, I drove to Geneva, NY to make it there in time for the auction preview at the Hessney auction house. Me being me, I procrastinated and did this and that before leaving like fiddling on the Internet and left about 2 hours later than I had planned at noon. Bad move cause I only got there at about 615PM and the preview ended at 7PM. Luckily though, I had enough time though to look over the guns I knew I wanted to bid on and most of the others. Then, back to my hotel with a detour. I stopped by the Hotel Exchange bar across the street from my hotel and that was another bad move. They were quite liberal with the vodka and it and their beer was pretty inexpensive compared to bars near my home. I got snockered and only crawled out of bed, quite hungover, at about 830AM (meaning their doors had been open at the auction house for a half hour already). Not to worry, bidding would not start until well after I got there on Saturday morning.

I planned to bid on several guns and did so without a winning bid on any of the ones I had planned bidding on in advance (meaning when I was still home and going through their autction catalogue). Damn me for being hung over and hazy brained due to that because I mistakenly stopped bidding on two guns on which I had planned to bid more but remembered the wrong self imposed bid limit on each. I most likely would have had either a brand new Marlin 1895G Guide Gun or a brand new Ruger Mini 14 Ranch Rifle or both - had I actually remembered that I had been willing to bid about $50 to $75 more on each than I did bid. I have been kicking myself in mine arse all day over this; that Guide Gun could have been mine for a very good price below what they sell for normally and it was new and in the box. Same goes for the Ranch Rifle to a lessor extent, it would have been mine for closer to the retail selling price but still a good deal. Each was new and in the box with all papers and accessories that normaly come with them.

There wound up being several other guns on which I decided to bid only once I saw them. I wound up with the high bid on one of them and hope it is in as good a condition as I think it is in but will have to do a much better inspection of the bore once I get it home. It is difficult to see down a muzzle loader's barrel is all I can say. Yes, the firearm I purchased did niot even require a NICS check because it was a muzzleloader. It is a CVA 50 caliber Hawken rifle. It looks pretty good all around from what I could see of it and I hope the bore looks as good. This gun (along with my crossbow) extends the deer hunting season for me by a couple of weeks or so.

Other than that muzzlealoder, I bought two lots of ammo and a single lot of three knives. One of the knives is a Remington Bullet Knife from 1985 that is worth about 75% more than what I paid for it (and I say it is worth that much because a few have recently sold on Ebay and GunBroker at about that much more). I may sell it outright or may wait a few years and try then. I figure it will only go up in value if kept in pristine condition as it is now.

Right now, I am in Binghamton near where I will try one more day, tomorrow, out in the woods with the hope of bagging a deer.

Mad Dog Mattis

Yesterday, Donald trump announced that he will nominate Marine General James Mattis (Ret.) as secretary of defense (source). Make sure to watch the video that goes with the source article to see to which WWII general Trump compares Mattis. (Hint, there was a movie, about the WWII general, with George C. Scott in the lead role.)

I suppose if Mattis is like that WWII general and if the nomination goes through, we will have a truly qualified military man as Secretary of War Defense. I think that will be much better than emasculating our military command in the manner of Obama.

That Ugly Sweater Thing

I know some folks who do this thing each year wherein they wear ugly sweaters for Christmas. I am guessing that the sweaters are supposed to be Christmas themed but if ugly is the main theme then whichever one of them would have the balls to wear this one would be the winner. Not that I would actually expect any of them to wear this one but I mean - you just can't beat it!'

Nice Knife For Sale - If I Was Still Christmas Shopping...

...I might have bought it as soon as I saw it except for one little nit picky thing that bothered me about it. If I am going to spend $75 or so on a knife, that has the licensing company's (Ruger) logo on it, why would I even consider one where the logo would be certain to be covered over while in the sheath.

See it here.

It is on sale at a good price but I am right handed as are most folks. Thus, I usually wear a sheath on my right side. It's manufactured by CRKT under license from Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc.. Why would Ruger have CRKT place the logo on the left side of the handle where it would face in toward my body and not out so others could see it when in the sheath? Like I said, just nitpicking but that did get me going a bit.

Anyway, it has a nice price and it otherwise seems to be a nice knife despite the location of the logo. I might have considered purchasing one had I not already bought just about everything for Christmas that I am buying anyone (and definitely already got gifts for anyone in my family who would have appreciated that knife as a gift).

I Don't Think There Will Be Riots After The Verdict...

...mostly because I cannot see the jury of ex-police officer Michael Slager not guilty in his prosecution for shooting and killing Walter Scott in South Carolina in April 2015. Scott allegedly was shot from behind, multiple times, as he fled from then officer Slager. According to a published report, Slager has claimed that: "...Scott resisted his orders to stop and then grabbed his stun gun as the two men scuffled..." (source).

I saw the video, taken by a bystander, of the shooting and am sure many of you did too. As far as I could tell, Scott posed absolutely no credible threat to Slager when Slager fired at and shot Scott. As I recall, Slager can be seen, in the video, walking over to Scott after he had been shot and then throwing his stun gun on the ground near Scott. Amazingly, Slager is seemingly sticking to his story that it was Scott who grabbed for the stun gun and that he felt threatened by Scott when the video seems to show something very different happened.

Mind you, if there somehow is a verdict of not guilty (or even a hung jury) in this case - there may well be a riotous Christmas season throughout the country.

Levi Strauss Takes Aim At Gun Owners

It was bad enough, years ago when Levi Strauss moved production of the dungarees to Mexico, that I almost stopped buying their products. I kept buying them though and truth be told Levi's dungarees are the only ones I have bought or worn since my early teen years and that has been a long time. Now Levi Strauss has taken things a step further in their quest to be politically correct leftists while trampling on the rights of Americans and their CEO has made a "request" that no one, except "...authorized members of law enforcement...", carry firearms into their stores. According to the CEO for Levi Strauss: "You don’t need a gun to try on a pair of jeans...". More here.

The way I look at it though is that I don't have to try on a pair of Levi's unless I am welcome to carry my firearm(s) within their stores. Until such time as the so called 'request' is rescinded and when Levi Strauss makes me, an armed citizen, again feel welcome as a customer - I will cease purchasing their products. I strongly recommend that other RKBA loving Americans do likewise.

Hell On Earth...

..or so it has been described by many residents of  Gatlinburg, TN where wildfires have raged destroying at least 250 buildings and causing a mass evacuation of 14,000 people. More here.

Folks, I know it is the Christmas and Chanukah seasons and many of you are tapped out of cash because of gift buying but maybe you can find it in your hearts to donate at least a little bit to efforts to assist those impacted by the fires. There are probably many organizations to which you can donate but the only one I know of right now that is soliciting monetary donations for disaster relief is the Red Cross. As much as I do not like to donate to the Red cross, I prefer organizations where more of the donation actually goes to disaster relief, I sent them a modest donation in the hopes it will help the folks in TN.

He Is Becoming More Presidential...

...as each day passes. Donald Trump's metamorphosis from successful real estate mogul to being truly presidential has taken a major leap with his announcement that "I will be leaving my great business in total in order to fully focus on running the country in order to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” (source).

Yesterday, I noted how he and Pence have come to an agreement with the Carrier corporation to keep almost 1,000 jobs in the U.S. instead of moving operations to Mexico. All that while selecting his cabinet at a good pace. Even before being elected by the Electoral College, let alone taking the oath of office, Trump has become more presidential that Obama did in his almost 8 years as president.
