The United States of America was hit by a peacetime surprise attack at Pearl Harbor from the Imperial Empire of Japan. We ended WWII with a bigger surprise attack during the war, the two most devastating bombs ever to be used in wartime. Many were killed but in fact man lives were saved by those bombs because the death toll would have been higher had we needed to invade mainland Japan. It is a shame we have not learned how to live in peace since then but as much as I would love to see word peace, I would not hesitate to do likewise, against any nation or group that attacked our country, in order to save American lives and put an end to any war waged against us.
Take a moment today to remember and keep in your prayers the men and woman (military and civilian) who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor. There were 2,403 of them (source) who made the ultimate sacrifice that day. Also keep in memory and in your prayers all those U.S. Servicemen and women who perished in the war that followed.
The attack on Pearl Harbor was the largest American loss of life, during a single attack by a foreign enemy, on U.S. soil prior to the attacks on 9/11 where in the World Trade Center alone 2,606 people died (not including those in the planes that struck the towers).
All the best,
Glenn B
