Apparently Doing His Part To Help End Global Warming...

...a man, reportedly armed with a "long rifle", was alleged by a 911 caller to have been hanging out of a moving vehicle's rear right window on the Florida Turnpike as he was shooting at cows (those evil producers of methane gas that we all know is one of the major cause of global warming). Police were able to find the vehicle and the man who was a passenger in it. They also found his AR15 in the car. The driver of the vehicle said had stopped so his passenger Elvis Antonio Artola could answer the call of nature and while stopped, Artola started shooting into the woods. The driver said he did not know if Artola was just shooting into the woods or at the cows. He also said he did not want to snitch on his friend. More here.

Make sure to listen to the recording of the 911 call at the bottom of the article and to the long pause after the guy tells the 911 operator what he was reporting and where it took place. It seems the 911 operator was at a loss for words there for a bit and who can blame him. Just when you had thought you had heard and seen everything you get a call about a psycho shooting cows from a moooooooooooving vehicle.

The report did not mention if he actually shot any cows. So, I don't know about you, but regardless of how hard he may have been trying to do his part to terminate a few causes of global warming (or get a free steak dinner), I think this guy actually could have sped up climate change. I mean, those cows almost certainly left behind large piles of manure and steamy clouds of methane gas as they were scared shitless and running for their lives.

I Bet Those Beer Bottles Cracked...

...or popped their tops and that the beer cans at least bulged out of shape if not popped open. I mean the ones my son left out in our garage; excuse me while I go check them.

Time goes by as I check...

I just checked. Heck, the Heinekens he has out there are not even frozen one bit, not even slushy, and the Fosters Premium Ale can is in perfect condition (it looked so good I almost popped it open for me). I don't get it, my garage is not heated nor is it insulated. I would have thought it much colder in the garage right now than in my freezer, and especially so last night when temps were in the minus numbers. Beers freeze in my freezer in almost no time (or so it seems time wise when I forget them in there for a half hour or so). Strange how they did not freeze out in the garage in this we'd better call it Climate Change, uber anti-leftist, Global Warming cold snap we are having.

Oh well, not complaining about that, it's a good thing. Maybe I'll have one later.

All the best,

It Was 1 Degree Fahrenheit When I Crawled Out Of Bed This Morning...

...and I am guessing it was much colder at about 0300 when I let the dogs out. Tomorrow, it is supposed to be 38 degrees or 38 times warmer than that. This coming Saturday it is supposed to hit 53 degrees or be 53 times warmer than it was early today. Oh my gawd, it's climate change taking place all within one week! Al Gore must be visiting the east coast - we are doomed.

Stay thirsty warm my friends,
Glenn B

PS: I think I will stay inside, I can clean guns and do an ammo inventory.

Today In History - Our First Clues That Democrats Would Be First To Cause Global Warming

On this day in history, unbeknownst to us at the time, the fourth clue that Democrats would be totally responsible for starting Global Warming, aka: Climate Change, was thrown in our faces by Harry Truman. In fact, this fourth clue clearly indicated that they would not only be responsible for starting global warming but that they would continually proceed to find better ways to make our planet nice and toasty warm regardless of the cost to us. On this day in history, January 31, 1950, President Harry Truman announced that the USA would seek to create the hydrogen bomb, aka: The Hell Bomb.

Oh, by the way, if you were wondering what were the first three clues that Democrats would be responsible for Global Warming, they were gifts that President Harry Truman gave to the world and that warmed our planet more than the sun in some places: Trinity, Little Boy, and Fat Man. Funny how the liberal leftist Demoncrats now want to blame man's slash and burn farming techniques of 7,000 years ago but how they don't even mention at all the atomic, hydrogen, and whatever types followed, bombs that have been set off since Harry Truman first starting toasting the earth and its atmosphere with thermonuclear goodness.

The Weather Has Not Got Me Down...

...but the weatherman certainly is trying to do so. I got finished shoveling about 4 inches of wet snow an hour ago. I am a little achy since I did not only my small sidewalk but also my neighbors pretty large corner sidewalk (he is in Florida - and is apparently happier with the weather he is enjoying than am I with mine).

My wife and I need to go today to get grocery shopping done, the weekly stuff we get from either COSTCO or BJ's. We are also going to visit my mom who once again is in the hospital due to a bad fall on Monday night or early Tuesday morning (she was found unconscious in her room, but at least nothing was broken). Because we are going out, I decided to check on the weather. According to the radio weather reports we are to get continued freezing rain, sleet and more snow throughout the day and evening. Being an Internet junky, I also checked online with MSN. Their weather report said this under "Today's Forecast":

TODAY - SPRINKLES

Well, I hate to tell them but sprinkles do not deposit 4 inches of that cold and wet white stuff on the ground. Nor do sprinkles come down in the form of steady fairly heavy rain, as it has now being doing over the past couple of hours or so; unless of course the word sprinkles means something different to them than it does to me. I think though they know what the word sprinkles means, and it is not heavy snow, nor is it fairly heavy and constant rain. Then again, isn't it the folks at MSN who went right along with that pompous buffoon Al Gore on Global Warming. Yep it was them at least as I remember, them and most of the rest of the media and the companies associated with them! Maybe the globe is warming, maybe all of this snow and cold we are experiencing is a result of the ice cap melting and all that cold coming down this way - and maybe they are all full of themselves in their inability to even report the weather while it is actually taking place. Sprinkles indeed - balderdash!

The Cold and The Snow

So far this past fall, and this winter, we have had several snowfalls here and in the nearby New York metro area. It is pretty unusual to have so many snowfalls as we did before January, and the number of snowfalls seems not to be falling off. This weekend we had two. Of course we only got about a total of 3 or 3.5 inches. Now, the amount of snow is not the issue. Rather, I am just surprised, what with Global Warming and all, that we are having so many snowfalls and that the temperatures here in the New York area have been so cold. I imagine that once President Elect Obama is sworn in as president tomorrow he immediately will have his Global Warming Czar manufacture, in a green way, some ludicrous reason as to why the whole country is experiencing one of the coldest winters in memory. Of course, I figure that reason will blame it on the melting ice caps as caused by Global Warming or something like that. You can bet they will not say that the Global Warming theory is wrong, they have too much invested in pushing the theory and they stand to gain ever so much from propagating it further.

Global Warming Slams Home In July...

...and man oh man is it warm outside. It's currently 89 degrees Fahrenheit, with 42% humididity - so it feels like its 91 degrees Fahrenheit. Can you imagine it feeling like 91 degrees in July! Maybe Al Gore was right, maybe we have doomed ourselves, oh nooooooooo.

Let me tell you, though it's hot, I have braved the heat. I've been out to the stores and the shopping is done, I took care of my animals and their cages, pen, and tanks are clean and they are well fed, I put a coat of polyurethane of the chest of drawers I'm refinishing, I've watered the flowers and the vegetable garden using watering cans (none of that wussy using a hose for me), I've pulled some weeds (though not too many because it really is warm), I took out the trash, and now I am waiting on the polyurethane to dry so I can hit the chest of drawers with another coat. What to do, oh what to do. Well I can get my animals ready for the herp show this evening at Gardiner Manor Park in Suffolk County, and and do have to get that done; but before I do it there is something else I need to accomplish.

What a better accomplishment than to make sure I survive this massive heat wave, this overwhelming spurt of global warming, this Curse of Gore. So I had better grab an icy cold beverage like a Hefe Weissbier, or a vodka spiked glass of lemonade, while there is still electricity coming in, allowing my fridge to run, making it possible for me to chill some beers, and to make some cubes to dip into my cocktails. Otherwise I might just start repeating the death knell of the Wicked Witch of the West: "I'm melting, I'm melting.....".

So what am I waiting for? Later for you....

All the best,
Glenn B

Now This Would BE Global Warming...

...and if this is the way it turns out, well then I will have had to admit (should I still be around) that Al Gore was right about fearing Global Warming, but just not in our lifetimes. I mean 7.6 billion years is a long way off isn't it! Read this, it is the Global Warming theory of the century: Scientists Predict When World Will End. Kind of funny how these scientists are seemingly taking the lead from Al G in as much as their theory contradicts all the other science out there about the earth being sucked into the sun. Oh well, what does science, or the lack of it, matter anyway in this age of air headed Al Gore like enlightenment.

Just imagine all the Red Giant Days sales that places like Walmart will have and you won't be bothered with thinking about doomsday scientists at all. I am gonna stock up on beer, and wieners for a nice BBQ.

All the best,
Glenn B

Global Warming Slamming Us This Winter

I suppose that is what the warming theorists, and the politicos like Al Gore, would have us believe. Then again, just the other day I heard the head of Green Peace (I think that is who they had on a FoxNews video), saying that global warming was quite possibly responsible for the ice storm in the Midwest of the USA. Tomorrow here in western Long Island we are expected to get some bad weather. Now according to whom it is that you listen, such as 1010 WINS Radio, we are going to get 'from 1 to 5 inches of snow between 0900 (9AM) and about 18900 (7PM), frozen, rain and snow' - or, if you read MSN's weather report we are going to have: "Day: Definite light rain with snow and ice pellets (sleet) and patchy fog. High 35F, humidity 65%. Winds ENE at 10 to 15 mph. Night: Chance of light freezing rain with snow and ice pellets (sleet). Low 31F. Winds ENE at 10 to 15 mph. Boy that sounds pretty much alike. Two different media outlets are saying we will have a crappy day, and they both say that a bit further north will be worse. Even the National Weather Service (see: http://www.weather.com/maps/news/forecastsummary/36hrfloaterqpf_large.html?from=wxcenter_maps) predicts at least 1-3 inches of snow on the ground in NYC and western Long Island (and up to about 6 inches in some places on Western LI), and from 6 up to 12 inches of white stuff on the ground just north of NYC; and guess what - the date of this winter storm (as they are calling it) is predicted to be December 13, 2007.

Now from 52 years of experience, most of which I have had a grasp of after 4 or 5 years of age, I can say without a doubt that snow this early in the season, in these amounts, is pretty unusual for our area. So on what can we blame this phenomenon - I would imagine we can blame it on Global Warming, but then again I am no junk scientist, I am not a failed politician, I am not the head of an ultra kooky green group - but I'd bet that would be their explanation. Heck, I am just a regular guy who is surprised that it is going to snow before Christmas; and one who hopes it does snow just about an inch on Christmas. That would be nice; and if such is what we can expect due to Global Warming, then I am all for climate change. Bear in mind - snow over the winter is good. In the spring it melts, the melted water runs off to streams, and into lakes and reservoirs, and into the oceans. Full lakes are good for fish, and for human fun. Full reservoirs are good places to get drinking water. A full ocean is good for fishing, swimming, surfing, and boating, and plenty of other fun things. It seems we cannot go wrong if Global Warming is causing all this snow and ice, let's hope it keeps it up all winter (well not so much so that it screws people over in the Midwest, but enough so there is plenty of melting water in the spring to feed our reservoirs).

Now Global Warming may be for real, and its causing snow may be the result, but if such is the case, there is something very strange about all of this for which I as a rational sort of a guy just do not understand when I re-listen to the Global Warming theories of a year ago, even 6 months ago, or 3 months ago - and then compare those to the ones of very recent days that try to explain away this white cold stuff. Go figure, I guess I should have paid better attention in science class in my school days.

Glenn B

As the Globe Warms and My Goosebumps Grow

Even though real summer does not end until late September, it sure feels like summer really is over. This is not so much due to it being Labor Day weekend, but rather mostly because I kept waking up last night to rearrange my one skimpy blanket because I had goose bumps. Heck it was downright chilly. Seems someone left a basement window open (yes I fell asleep watching the tube in the basement), and it felt like an AC blowing directly on me all night. I only realized the window was open at about 0500, and I shut it promptly. When I let the dogs out this morning, I decided to take in a bit of fresh air. After 5 minutes outside without a jacket, I put one on when I got back into the house - I was chilled like a shucked oyster. I checked the weather forecast on my MSN homepage, and what does it say - low of 63, high of 76 expected. Then I clicked on the weather icon, and that changed the forecast to: low of 59, high of 76, but the actual temperature it showed for my village was 58. Go figure, but I guess that is about par for the course for weather people, they just cannot get it right. That 58 is chilly let me tell you, feels more like 53 to me. Global warming indeed!

I think it's time to go make a pot of java; and I have a nice pound of French Roast Sumatran coffee just calling my name.

I Knew It Was Going To Be A Bad One...

...when I left my house at 0545 for work this morning, and by about 0630 it was a lot darker out than it had been when I left home. I had to pull off of the highway as I headed into a surveillance site in Brooklyn the wind was blowing so hard and the rain coming down in sheets so thick it looked as if someone had smeared about a 1/4 inch of petroleum jelly over my windshield. I will say this though, the lightning and thunder put on one heck of a show. I have not been that rattled by thunder in many a year, and I mean not rattled as in afraid, but rattled as in vibrated by the power of it, and I was inside my car when it did so. Lightning and thunder simultaneously coming from at least 4 different directions all around me within split seconds of each other. This went on for about an hour of my drive, a drive that normally would take about an hour and I had only gone about 1/3 the way in the time. Still some peckerwoods (no better description) were doing about 60 or 70 in the thick of it. I waited for it to slow down quite a bit, only about 10 or 15 minutes of waiting) before I drove on, and I still got there on time.

When I arrived on scene for our surveillance, we found a few different neighborhoods in Brooklyn had been smashed. Tree limbs and trees down all over the place, and big ones at that. Cars and trucks smashed by those trees, houses missing siding and roofs, windows smashed, business signs on the streets. Not a thing that usually happens in Brooklyn, and plenty of people were saying a tornado had touched down. Well this evening, when I was driving home at about 1900 (7PM, and yes it had been a long day), I heard on the news radio that a tornado did indeed touch down at several locations right in the area in which we later did our surveillance.

I guess that means my mother's prediction, of many years ago (probably back when I was not yet a teenager), came true. She said back then that we were having tornadoes in the USA in places where we had never had them before, and she predicted that it would get to the point where we would have them in New York. It has happened a few times now in New York State, and less in NYC - but it has come to pass. I don't think my mom gives Al Gore much credence on his stance on global warming, so maybe we are safe on that one; but as for tornadoes - watch out.

Glenn B

'An Inconvenient Truth' - You Bet! This is a must read...

...for anyone who is truly concerned with the environment, and for anyone who gives any credence or credit (carbon or otherwise) to Al Gore. Take a look at: Two Houses over at Cap'n Bob & The Damsel. If the link doesn't work, then use this address for said post:

http://capnbob.us/blog/2007/05/24/two-houses/.

Yes you already know, the real inconvenient truth, all about Al Gore's house and how much energy it uses compared to the average American home; but I am willing to bet the great majority of you do not know about the other house and how inconvenient the truth about it would be to Al Gore should the media ever put it in the limelight!

All I can say is that: after reading that small piece, and then checking to verify the claims by way of other sources, I have a whole new respect for George W. Bush who actually lives in a 'Green (ecologically-friendly) House'. My contempt for Al Gore has not changed in the least; I already believed him to be a contemptuous lying scoundrel; and now I am simply all the more satisfied that my belief is correct. For all I could care, Al Gore could choke on his carbon credits, and I think it would be doing all of us a favor. He is, in my opinion, nothing more than a rotten bullshitter and pompous asshole. Shame on anyone who gives him any credit for trying to protect the environment when all he is apparently doing is making money selling a book and a movie while he riles up the wackos..

One note before I close. I am none too sure those houses in the pictures are actually Gore's and Bush's houses, although the facts stated about them seem to be supported by other sources, and the one pictured next to the paragraph about Bush's house, in general fits a description of it that I found elsewhere. It is not important if the pictures portray the actual houses, what is important is the stated facts about each house regarding energy efficiency or lack thereof.

All the best,
Glenn B
