Yep folks, that is Brendan all geared up and out in the woods on his first deer hunt. He is all duded up in his brand new blaze/camo hunting coat, and with the shotgun and daypack, he was ready for just about anything. He is carrying my tried and true Remington 870. What can I say about the Remington that has not already been written; probably not much. It is a great all purpose pump action shotgun. It holds five rounds total of 2 3/4" shells (although others are chambered for up to 3" shells, and some come in magnum configurations). This is a Remington 870 Express combo. In other words it came with a subdued finish and 2 barrels. One barrel is a slug barrel, with rifle sights. The other is a 28" bird/trap/skeet/sporting clays barrel.
As for the young man, he is unique, and he is one great guy. Of course, I am a bit partial toward my son, so what could you expect me to do except say he is the greatest hunting buddy a guy could have.
