Today In History - They Got The Vote

Yes men, today's date is that other date in December that will live in infamy. It was on this date, December 10, 1869, that the beginning of the end commenced and before the sun set on that day, we were doomed. Never before had anything like this happened in the long history of the world. Nowhere else on earth had any politicians ever before been looney enough to legislate such nonsense let alone had there ever been a head of state as suicidal as was the Governor of the Territory of Wyoming. It was on that sadly fateful day, that one man and one ma alone brought all men to their knees when this was encated. In other words, women won and we lost now that they had been granted the vote. Within only 51 years of the passage of the very first law allowing women to vote and hold office, women became so powerful as to be able to bring about the following catastrophes:

When One Of These Hoodlums Is Shot And Killed...

...will it be a repeat of Fergusson if the shooter was a white Bosnian who was protecting his or her life from hammer wielding black thugs who were pounding on their cars and threatening their lives? I would be tthat yes, that is exactly what will happen and Al Sharpton, the blabbermouth of blabbermouths will be out race bating as usual and totally disregarding the facts. I have not seen one of the Fergusson protestors out there to protest the racial beating of the latest Bosnian victim nor to protest the obvious racially motivated killing of the prior one but I am sure they would be out there calling for blood if a Bosnian killed one of these thugs in self defense. You can probably safely bet that at least one such assailant will be shot or beaten to death in the near future if these attacks keep happening as I certainly doubt the Bosnian community will settle for continued attacks and will defend themselves as legally justifiable and as necessary.

"A military man can scarcely pride himself on having "smitten a sleeping enemy"..."

If you don't know what I mean with the title to this post then it is evident that you are not a student of U.S. or world history. The events that took place, on December 7, 1941, were some of the most important in the history of the world. They changed the United States of America - they changed the world - forever. It was on that day that the Empire of Japan launched a sneak attack on the U.S. Naval base at Pearl Harbor and those words, in this post's title, reference that attack.

I don't think I can do it any more justice than I did in a previous pot, so I'll just link to that post. If you don't know about what took place at Pearl Harbor, on that day, do yourself the favor of reading a bit about it in my post of seven years ago or here in the post I wrote a year ago. Those events truly set the USA on a new course and the events that followed while we set off on that new course assured there would be an America today. December 7, 1941 was a date of importance as much as is 9/11, it was a date on which American united, it was "....a date which will live in infamy..."!



Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, in early January 1942, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, the commander in chief of Japan's naval forces, replied to a newspaper editor about the editor's assessment of the attack: "A military man can scarcely pride himself on having "smitten a sleeping enemy"; it is more a matter of shame, simply, for the one smitten. I would rather you made your appraisal after seeing what the enemy does, since it is certain that, angered and outraged, he will soon launch a determined counterattack." America indeed launched a counter attack, one of a magnitude never before and never since matched. If you do nothing else today, learn something about December 7, 1941 and its aftermath because it truly was an earth shattering and world changing date.

Doing The Secret Santa Thing...

...this year and it is the first time I have ever partaken in it. I think there are eight of us who are joining in for it. We all agreed on a limit of $250 per person's gift but I think that was changed by some tightwad in the group to $200. I gave my Secret Santa a lot of choices and he or she most certainly could gift me something other than what is on my list but the list will help give an idea of what I would like.

We were supposed to share this info with one another on Thanksgiving but that did not work out, so we did it last weekend at the combined birthday party for my son, daughter and son-in-law. Almost everyone was insisting that their Secret Santa give them cash and that kind of irked my son who was the one who had come up with the idea of doing the whole Secret Santa thing in the first place. That was everyone except for me and my son. I had my list made up in time for Thanksgiving and posted it on my daughter's fridge when we ate dinner there for the holiday. Everyone else, after being excoriated by my son (and reminded by me that if we were all giving each other $200-$250 bucks we may as well just not exchange gifts and keep our money because it would work out the same) finally came up with some ideas for gifts for their wish lists.

I shopped for my recipient's gift today. I cannot say for whom I got the present nor what I got, lest that person see here that I am his or her Secret Santa, but I will say that I bought the gifts today. Well, I bought the Secret Santa gift today and I also added a second one that was not on that person's wish list, just as a bonus over and above what we were supposed to spend. I know am almost certain that he or she will like them.

I also have bought a few other gifts and am probably all done Christmas shopping except for my mandatory Christmas Eve shopping frenzy. It is just not right if I do not shop on Christmas Eve. As for the other gifts I already purchased they include some fine ales and spirits among other things.

Yeah, maybe you have seen it before, at least the short version of it. This one though seems to be the full length version. All I can say about that is that it exhibits a youthful vibrance that probably only rarely has been matched. Man oh man does it look as if she is enjoying herself; must have been a Friday after work or a Saturday morning on a long weekend.

No Hunting Today

Damn, that didn't work out. Here I still am at friggin home far from the hunting grounds. It looks like I'll be leaving later this afternoon or early this evening. Of course, that means I'll only get in one more day or deer and bear hunting tomorrow - the final day for the regular hunting season. Now, if I had a muzzle loader, crossbow or a bow I could have extended that another week. You can bet that a crossbow is on my Christmas wish-list!

About To Be Gone Hunting

Am going to had upstate today to get in a day and a half of hunting. Had figured on leaving at about 0300 but was just to darned spent after work yesterday and only woke up around 0530. Still didn't have the energy I needed to get going, so I slept  bit more. I am just not feeling it today though but will get going sooner or later. With luck, I'll drag my arse out the door by about 0900. That should mean I'll be hunting by 1PM at the latest giving me a few hours in the woods. If I don't bag anything this afternoon, it will wind up being an overnighter and I'll have all day tomorrow - the last day of the season - for my hunt.

Did You Get A Flu Shot This Year? More Bad News From The CDC!

So, did you get a flu shot this year? I did but it may not help me much in preventing me from coming down with the flu. The screwed up thing about it is that now the CDC is saying the vaccine that was given to folks this time may not be all that effective against this year's strain of the flu. In addition, they are indicating that this years variety is expected to cause more hospitalizations and deaths of those who come down with it. Next thing you know they will be telling us this is the zombie strain! More here.

The Eric Garner Killing - The Grand Jury Decision - My Two Cents

The Grand Jury failed to bring a true bill (indict) New York City Police Department Officer Daniel Pantaleo in the killing of Eric Garner (source). Mr. Garner had been informed he was under arrest (for selling loose cigarettes on the streets of Staten Island in July 2014) and was then placed into a chokehold by the officer when he resisted arrest. I see a possible flaw with the Grand Jury decision despite not having all of the evidence available to me. As in a grand jury investigation though, I think that I have enough evidence to determine probable cause at least on which to base my opinion.

First of all, the medical examiner returned a finding of homicide (not as defined in a dictionary but as defined by NY State law - http://ypdcrime.com/penal.law/article125.htm#p125.00). Secondly, while many - including the officer - claim he did not have criminal intent to harm Mr. Garner, the officer's intent says nothing toward certain of the charges he could have, and almost certainly should have, been facing. Criminally negligent homicide (involuntary manslaughter) does not require him having intent to kill someone, it has to do with having done so by way of being criminally negligent. I could walk down the street shooting my guns in this direction and that and kill someone. I would almost certainly be charged with at least criminally negligent homicide because the killing, on the face of it, would have been the result of me negligently firing my gun and that negligence would be seen as rising to the criminal level. I think that there was more than enough probable cause to believe that officer Pantaleo was criminally negligent.

The thing that truly irks me though is the fact that a choke hold is considered deadly force in any training I received (within at least 15 years of my retirement from LE) and allow me to assure you - my training in that area has been extensive. The restraint technique used by the officer apparently was questionable as a chokehold but would not have been questioned in the training I received as far as I can recall. It was, in my opinion, a choke hold. It was designed to cut off blood flow in the carotid arteries. Cutting off that blow flow does not always result in death, just as a gunshot does not, but in all likelihood it can and often does result in death - thus it is considered deadly force. The NYPD banned officers from using chokeholds and that ban was in effect when Mr. Garner was killed. Regardless of the ban (and note even with the ban, it may have been allowed in cases where deadly force was permitted) I have watched the video several times and do not see the need for the application of deadly force and it certainly seems like it was deadly force to me. I also am familiar with the law in NY State covering the application of deadly force - the degree of threat against the officers never rose, in my opinion based on 32 years of LE work, to that level as required by NY State law. Of course, the officer could have seen and articulated that differently being he was the one in the situation. Yet, I am more than just a bit flummoxed as to why the officer was not charged. Note, I am not saying he is guilty of anything but that it seems to me there was more than enough evidence to find probable cause that a crime was committed relative to the killing of Mr. Garner and there seems to have been more than enough evidence to indicate probable cause that the officer had committed that crime. Maybe if the authorities are transparent, we will see that there was evidence to indicate otherwise but I am blinded to it now as I have not seen or heard that evidence. In Fergusson, MO, there was ample evidence to completely exonerate the Officer Wilson in the death of Michael Brown but it just does not seem to be even close to the same in this case.

Short of other evidence, therein lies enough for me to have a reasonable and strong doubt of the wisdom behind the grand jury decision. Having had a wealth of first extensive experience with grand juries - I know that, in a GJ proceeding, very little evidence is needed to bring an indictment as would be to bring a conviction in criminal court, that since it is probable cause being determined and not guilt. That sufficient evidence seems to be there - with no apparent mitigating factors such as Mr. Garner's resistance to arrest rising to the level where deadly force would have been needed to end the threat to the officers posed by him - to have indicted is crystal clear to me. (Again, without all the evidence but I have never been in a  grand jury proceeding where all the evidence was presented as was in Fergusson and I don't know if all of it was presented in this case.)  Still, the decision has me wondering if this was not a case of  prejudicial treatment (not racial) in favor of a police officer by the prosecutor. Knowing NYS politics, that is unlikely but it is possible, especially with those considerations in mind. So, I question the decision of the grand jury not to find a true bill. Of course, all that means is I would like to know and examine more of the evidence. Hopefully it will be divulged (if not already done) so that we mere citizens can review it and rest assured that our police departments and governments are not running amok and totally disregarding even our most basic right - that to life. Sadly though, I fear the worst in that regard.

Mind you, I am not saying - even for one instant - that I believe that this was a departmental thing or even a multiple officer offense. During the arrest, Mr. Garner obviously resisted and the officers, who were ordered to enforce the ridiculous law were, under the circumstances, more than justified to use enough proper force against him to negate the threat he posed by way of his resistance. I think that all of the officers used proper restraint during the process with the possible exception of Officer Pantaleo. Bringing Mr. Garne to the ground to control and handcuff him was the prudent and proper thing to do - again under the circumstances. Doing so could have been easily accomplished without deadly force but again it seems to me that the officer in question almost immediately resorted to the use of deadly force in as much as I believe that the application of a choke hold was the use of deadly force. As to the other officers, none used a weapon, they did not shoot him with a TASER nor did they stun Mr. Garner with a stun gun, they did not spray him with OC Spray (pepper spray) nor did the beat him with flashlights or night sticks nor with expandable batons nor even their fists. They brought him to and held him on the ground and handcuffed him. They apparently used the minimum amount of force necessary to restrain him. I salute them in that regard, too bad though that they were not able to handle it without violence but then it was Mr. Garner who resisted. I am not blaming him for his own death, merely explaining why physical force was used at all and that in no way, in my opinion, should negate the restrictions on the use of deadly force.

All that aside, for now, I have to abide by the findings of the GJ just as should everyone else. For the federal government to want to prosecute this officer in a civil rights case seems ridiculous at best. To date, there has been no mention of any hard evidence to indicate there was a racial motive in this case except that one man was white and the other black. If that is enough to say that this was a racially motivated homicide and to bring such charges, then every criminal act committed by a person of one any given race against a person of any other given race, should have to be charged as a race biased crime. If, however, there is actual evidence of racial bias having been exercised against Mr. Garner by Officer Pantaleo, then let the civil rights case be brought against the officer because racial bias has no place in law enforcement. Otherwise, the federal government should get off of the politically fueled race baiting merry-go-round.

As for the incident coming about in the first place: That is the fault of over intrusive government in general in that such governments insist on enacting and enforcing over restrictive laws upon the liberties of the citizenry. Think about why this incident happened. It came about because NY City and NY State governments insisted on passing laws taxing tobacco - what is in essence a weed that one could grow in one's backyard. Then after that, they decided to enforce those laws relative to that taxation to the point where they actively sought out violators for arrest and prosecution - suspects whom they believed were illegally selling not huge amounts of untaxed tobacco but individual cigarettes called loosies.

Mind you, I am in agreement that if the law taxes tobacco within the intended constitutional restrictions on government, then tobacco should not be sold without collection and remittance, by the seller, of the tax due to the taxing authority. However, let's consider that in NY marijuana possession does not incur an arrest if the amount is under 25 grams. Marijuana, last time I checked, is still considered an illegal and dangerous drug in NY state. Yet the authorities in New York city (as everywhere else) pursue a man for ridiculously minor offense relative to a legal substance, with a fervor beyond reason, for something that probably should not even be illegal in the first place (the taxation on a weed). They seem hell-bent on destroying any liberties of the People merely in order to fill their coffers. To seek out, arrest and prosecute a man for selling loose cigarettes is not only overly restrictive of liberties, it is a huge waste of vital police manpower and other resources that could have been used to solve or even prevent crimes of  much higher degree of criminality. Such police action unnecessarily places both the public and police officers in harm's way as can be seen by the outcome of this event and it is ultimately all based upon the greed for money and power by government officials. 

Add to that the attitude of all to many police officers today, that they MUST enforce the law AT ALL COSTS because they are sworn to do so. The fact is that they are sworn first to support and defend the Constitution; never are they sworn to violate rights or liberties. Based on that alone, I must say, we need change from the way things are done and that change is primarily wrapped around the now unbridled rampant abuse of our governments trampling over our rights and liberties. We need to reign in government, and make those in it abide by the Constitution as it was intended and not as progressives or tyrants (both on the right or left) would interpret it.

Until such changes are made, tragedies like this are bound to repeat themselves and continue almost unabated because there is no penalty paid by government authorities for committing them. Yes, Officer Pantaleo will in all likelihood face departmental charges and may lose his job. There almost certainly will be a civil claim filed (one by the family of Mr. Garner in the amount of 75 million dollars has already been reported - source 880 WCBS radio in NYC last night). The government will likely pay a huge amount of dollars by way of a settlement but that does not effect the law makers and enforcers in any way except maybe for bad press. They are indemnified by law and covered by our tax dollars. So, while the government must pay, the bureaucrats have no to little true remorse, and no incentive to change the way they do business, because they pay with money out of our pockets not theirs. They will continue to enact and enforce liberty restricting and petty laws in order to help fill their coffers and boost their power with money brought in from taxes and fines and will continue to do so unrestrained unless we put a stop to it. As to the fines and unnecessary taxation, the truth is that instead of the government actually making money by way of fines and taxation in such cases, the government (the City of NY in this case) will almost assuredly loose tens of millions of tax dollars to settle the lawsuit with Mr. Garner's family and you can be assured that they will, in all likelihood, make a settlement with them. You can also be certain, that unless we change things by way of the ballot box, they will continue along their tyrannical merry way to enact and enforce more and more liberty restricting laws on a regular basis.

Parental Fears

I just sent my son a text message. He probably will tell me, when I see him tonight, that I am an asshole because of what I sent him. Yet, I am pretty sure he will heed my advice - anyway I hope he does. You see, he works in Brooklyn in or very near to a predominantly low to mid-income African American neighborhood. Based on past events of a similar nature, I would guess that there will be protests there over the Eric Garner grand jury decision not to indict the NYPD cop for the killing of Mr. Garner. There may also be violent riots or incidents. There is a good chance that if there is violence, it will be racially motivated and will be against whites; again that is based on past events of a similar nature. I hope that trouble does not come his way but if it does - I just gave him some advice on how to avoid trouble - I hope he takes it.

Then again - fuck everything. I am in a foul mood tonight.

I suppose this article had something to do with getting me fired up but I was already pissed when I walked in the door after work tonight and it had to do with reports about the racists in Fergusson (the protesting ones). It just got whole shitload worse when I read that article.

By the way, if those reported black and Hispanic suspects pieces of shit in St. Louis, MO who allegedly killed the white guy with hammers yesterday, pounding on him repeatedly with them, were not doing so for racial motives, if that was not a bias and hate crime, if that was not related to Fergusson - well then - if I were to call every black protestor in Fergusson a nigger, it would not be racist either - right (sarcastically rolling eyes now)! Well, of course, that's not right but let's face it folks - in the media and in the eyes of politicians and bureaucrats and in the eyes of most African Americans (or so it seems) it is only a racist crime if it was committed by a white man (or maybe an Asian) against a black man. If it is a black man who committed the crime against a white man, then even when it was obviously racist, it is almost guaranteed to be called just about anything but racism and I say FUCK THAT TOO.

This bullshit is sickening and needs to end now or we will have to live with the consequences which I imagine will not be without mass violence on a scale not seen in at least decades if not longer.

Coast PX25 Flashlight

The Coast PX25 LED flashlight is far superior to any other small flashlight I have ever used and it has an excellent price for a high quality light. I purchased one at Home Depot when I needed a flashlight fast; had never heard of the company but took a chance. Well, I had it for about 3.5 - 4 years until I lost it recently and am using a backup light I had around - one that I used to think was excelent - that was until I bought the Coast PX25. The old and reliable backup is good but is actually far inferior to the PX25.

The Coast PX25 has an aluminum body, gives off 208 lumens, has a claimed 6 hour 15 minute runtime, a bull's eye spot beam with a 128 meter (419 feet) beam distance (also a nice amount of light out to the side of the beam, so it is good for navigating around in the dark), is impact and water resistant, weighs 4.2 ounces, is 4.7 inches in length, uses three (3) AAA batteries (batteries are included), has a rubber covered end-cap on/off switch. They come with a lifetime warranty too. If I recall correctly, it also comes with a nylon belt case but don't hold me to that.

My impressions were (I say were because I lost mine recently): It is a very bright light and the batteries lasted a long, long time (and I can attest to over 4.5 hours run time before I changed batteries (did not have to do so but changed them to be on the safe side). A strong point of this light is that it has a momentary on/off option which is essential in tactical situations, it also has the typical click on/off for continual operation. It is obviously shock resistant as I dropped mine several times with no ill effects and is also definitely water resistant as I dropped mine at least once into a puddle that completely enveloped it with water and it kept working perfectly. It is an excellent size for on the belt or in the pocket carry (also note that in the few years I owned mine I think it inadvertently only got clicked on once while carried in my pocket). The fact that it uses three AAA batteries means batteries are easy to find and inexpensive to purchase. The PX25 sells for about $40 apiece and I think that is a bargain.

All else I can say is that since I lost mine not too long ago, a Coast PX25 LED flashlight is on my wish list for Christmas this year (hint, hint).

What Else To Do On Thanksgiving Except Buy Ammo

I just ordered 500 rounds of CCI, 40 grain, JHP 22WMR rounds from Palmetto State Armory. It is a Christmas present sort of - from me to me and my son. With that order, added to what we have on hand, we should have enough to last us a year or two. Brendan can go through it like termites through rotted wood or a hungry kid with a sweet tooth through a basket of jelly beans.

Not a bad deal considering today's prices for this ammo. It was about .28 cents per round or $13.99 per box of 50. With shipping included it worked out to about .30 cents per round. I have not seen a better price online in a long time. Of course this comes with PSA's slow arsed shipping; it probably will not ship for at least two weeks but we are in no hurry.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Be thankful for the good things in your life even if the good things. That includes being thankful that any misfortune you may have suffered was not any worse. There are very few of us who do not have something for which we can give thanks.

Hopefully, at least today, you will have a full belly, be sated by good drink and have of good folk with whom to share your thanks and each other's company.

Fergusson - I Won't Say Much About It...

...but I will say quite a bit of something about what is important in as much as I think what I have to say could truly fix the whole problem for so called underprivileged America. This goes for anyone, of any race, but I primarily will address Black America here in relation to Fergusson.

Al Sharpton and every bleeding heart liberal are, pretty much, saying that Michael Brown did not get justice and that they will seek it through a federal investigation and through a civil lawsuit.  The truth is, I think, he did get justice and got exactly what he deserved. With all due respect to his parents, my guess is that you allowed him to grow up to become a thug and that if you had not done so - this would never have happened. Instead of maybe cursing and damning the rest of America (as racists) and blaming cops during your son's lifetime while he was growing up, for all the ills of the black community - maybe you should have been putting a leather belt or size 12 up side his ass and a wooden spoon upside his head whenever he did wrong as a juvenile - they work wonders so long as you do not overdo it. Maybe you should have restricted him to staying home instead of roaming the streets. Maybe you should have sent him to summer camp for the summers instead of allowing him to hang out with bad friends. Then the proper lifestyle grooming, love, respect and encouragement probably would have been all that it would have taken to get and keep him on the right track. 

Had you been there at every PTA meeting and gone to his school every time he screwed up therein, had you encouraged good attendance and hard study, had you gone to school plays or musical events to see him in them, had you at least tried to help him with his homework, had you encouraged him not only to learn but convinced him just how important was a good education, had you been severe in making sure he played and lived by moral and ethical life rules, had you pushed him to get a good job, had you stressed personal pride in his achievements as a good citizen, had you been shining examples of exemplary citizens by doing what good parents do - working hard and voting and doing things for the community all while lovingly caring for their children with the goal that their kids will have it better than did the parents, had you stressed to him that there is hope and that your lives (as people of color) had improved since your childhoods instead of whining and moaning about being an oppressed people - well maybe he would have turned out to have been a very different Michael Brown.

There is always a chance that no matter what you did - he would have turned out to have been someone not of which to be proud. Then again, maybe he would have been a successful and good citizen and run one of the business in Fergusson instead of committing a violent crime in one of them. Maybe it would have been a business that would have been the pride of the community instead of the way the ones there are being burned down by self-oppressing  hooligans who say they support the likes of him and who say they want respect but who act like savages. To me, the acts of Michael Brown, in his last moments on earth were little more than those of a vicious thug. Perhaps you cannot see that because of your love for your son - but most of America sees it that way (including many black Americans). Sure, you loved him anyway but do you seriously mean to tell the rest of America that you loved the way the turned out, that you loved him being a thug.

That does not merely go for the parents of Michael Brown - that goes for the parents of every piece of shit out there rioting, everyone who would play the system to be supported by it without deserving one bit of support. The parents of the rioters - did I just call your kids shit - yes I did! You know, my mom used to call me 'shit on ice' and 'a lump on a log' and even much worse at times. That was when she thought I had done something bad as a kid. It hurt and it made me mad then and continued to hurt and make me mad right up until today whenever I thought about it. Today, I realized it also had another effect, a desirable effect. I am not so mad any more because I just realized that - even though it came with my mom's demented angry psychotic sort of parenting, which was in part a result of how she and we children were treated by her truly cruel and psychotic husband (our father) - even through her anger, the message was there to shape up or wind up being a piece of shit.

I shaped up without even realizing that was, at least in some small part, the message she was delivering. Thanks mom for doing your psychotic best to assure I turned out being on the right side of the tracks. I may not have turned out as good as I could have (especially as a parent or husband but I am a big improvement in both regards over each of my parents) but I never became a disrespectful, thieving, criminal thug who would violently attack and rob a store owner. Nor did I become a thug who would attack a police officer who was justly doing his duty - and that is a very good thing.

Grow up black America, at least the part of black America that thinks the likes of Al Sharpton are the epitome of your race - he is, as I see him, a blabbermouth and a pot stirring charlatan. If you truly want R E S P E C T (that is how it is spelled Mr. President) then go out and study hard, then get a job and work hard to deserve respect because it is deserved and not a free entitlement. I and the rest of America understand that there likely will always be racism, so what! You need to understand and tolerate it too - it is there and will not go away in total. Nothing is perfect and racial equality will never be so. Racism, it is an evil we tolerate because it is here and impossible to wipe out and it is a person's right to have that opinion of others (but not to exercise it in jobs, education, health care and such). However, we do not need to (and in fact most of us do not) agree with it nor do we condone it in any way shape or form - if most of us had done so, the klan would be in vogue and Hitler would have conquered the world. We also know racism works both ways and people of all races are prejudicial. Your self oppression is an example of it - you blame white people on the whole. Yet, we have come a long way baby, white people, in great numbers helped vote in the first black president.

We have a black president. We have had several African American cabinet members. That included two black Secretaries of State, black Secretary of Housing & Urban Development and black Secretary of Education and those were under George W. Bush alone. There have been other African American Secretaries, all the way back since LBJ was president. There have been many African American federal judges, including Justices of the Supreme Court. There are 2,792,736 federal employees (as of March 2012 - source). There are hundreds of thousands of people of color (an odd term as being acceptable considering colored is considered a despicable term - think about it) in federal employment. Likewise, there are many, many, many African Americans in state, county and local government positions throughout the nation. In the private sector it is likewise and there are many black senior executives in the private sector.

Are there still many blacks in poverty and or in jail, a seemingly disparate number? Sure there are but that is not necessarily a product of whites against black racism; in fact, a lot of that is due to the fact that black Americans still see themselves as oppressed and will not allow themselves to be anything other than oppressed. Many of the oppressors are the African American race baiters in your own community. In fact, you are - to a great extent - oppressing yourselves along with lots of help from those people who make money off of that feeling of inferiority - those charlatans who race bait at every opportunity. You know whom I mean.

You need to understand, as did the grand jury (after seeing and hearing ALL of the evidence) in Fergusson, MO, that when someone does something illegal like robs a convenience store, then illegally threatens a person with serious bodily harm or death - that other person has ever right to fight back including using deadly force to do so. To say that the current case in question was a racist cop shooting an innocent black youth, or is the racist system oppressing blacks, is absolutely preposterous. Doing so keeps you oppressed by your own hand. Yes, it does happen all to often that an innocent is killed and that race may have been, at least in part, the motivating factor. It may have recently happened in New York City but it did not happen in Fergusson - unless it was the fact that the African American youth hated and attacked the cop because the cop was white and that the black youth turned out as he did because his own community refuses to accept that they have been accepted. No, not perfectly so, but as I said, racial equality is there, to a great extent it is acceptable among most Americans and so is R E S P E C T. That is, at least, if you are willing to work for the latter and work at giving the same.

In fact, and it cannot be disputed, America has changed. Racial equality really is there if you are willing to accept the fact that you have to work hard - not so much for it - but for respect from those of us who do work hard at supporting this great nation. Stop making believe that every one who is white or Asian or maybe even most non-black Hispanics in America hate you and are out to get you. Those of you who refuse to grow up, and out of the stereotype that you have of yourselves as an oppressed people, are in the great part acting like spoiled brats who want everything for nothing and who whine and moan at every opportunity that no one respects you. That is not how it works - or should work - at least if you truly want respect as being equal.

Sadly, the results of your continuing to believe yourselves as oppressed by other races, as opposed to really being oppressed but being played for fools by the likes of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and others, are all to often the Michael Browns of the world. They are, in my opinion, good for nothing low lives and often get what they deserve no matter how much their moms may love them. Don't blame the rest of America for that - don't play the race card and thus perpetuate racism - blame yourselves for letting your kids grow up to emulate trash - be it white trash or black trash - thugs are thugs. Then become good parents who bring up children who are good citizens and who become productive members of society. I am not saying that there are not a large number of blacks that are not good parents, I am saying there are too many who are not solely because they perpetuate racism instead of self improvement and responsibility.

Just to reiterate one point - the above it not aimed at all Black America. It is aimed at the leeches, the thieves, the thugs, the race baiting charlatans, the racists, the agitators, the radicals and the rioters who would keep you in chains to the benefit of themselves at the cost of your suffering. It is aimed at parents too, who would allow their children to become such. It is suited to people of all races but particularly, in light of Fergusson, to African Americans who would allow their kids to turn into criminals.

To those Black Americans who are out there working hard - not only at jobs but at bringing up their kids the right way - to become contributing citizens of the greatest nation on earth - I salute you. Who knows, if you get it just right, then someday one of your children may become the president of the United States of America and a Libertarian or Conservative one at that. Better still - your child may become a president who actually deserved to have been elected based upon his or her merits such as: hard work, truly suitable experience for the job, ethical and moral core beliefs and skill sets rather than on a ton of political balderdash.

As China Prepares For WWIII...

...by actually dredging up and building an island that is believed will be able to support an airfield and a harbor capable of accommodating warships - what is it that we are doing. We are twiddling our thumbs telling them that we wish they would not do it or at least that is what the commander in chief is doing. Reportedly our government opposes China doing so and we have urged other countries not to do likewise (source). So, as we allow China to prepare to wage war (and there is no other logical reason for them to be island building) we tell our allies in the region not to prepare to defend themselves by doing likewise. I seem to remember that something like this (this being the wearing of blinders by world leaders especially the president of the United States of America) happened, oh say about 75 years ago give or take a couple of years, and look at what came of it back then. Yep, back then they all wanted to believe that all was well in the world, that all the drum beating in Europe by the Germans and all the same in Asia by the Japanese were regional problems and had little to nothing to do with us. How wrong they were then, let's hope they are not wrong now.

Officer Down - Tallahassee Cop Fatally Shot Responding To A House Fire

Cops get bum raps all too often that are based upon the actions of the bad apples in the barrel. Yep, there are a lot of bad, corrupt cops and even some purely evil ones but there are probably many more good cops out there than bad. Those who actually remember that their job is to serve the public.
 
A fine example of cops like that, those who remember it is their chosen profession to serve us, are the officers (and firemen) who responded to a house fire in Tallahassee, FL today. They did not respond to shoot any dogs, they did not respond to beat someone up, they did not respond to steal anything or to accept a bribe, they did not respond to violate anyone's rights, they apparently did not respond in military garb with military weaponry. They were on duty and were performing that duty with pride, integrity and guts while trying to save lives if necessary. At least one who lived nearby to the burning home and who was apparently off duty also responded.
 
When the first on duty officer arrived he was fatally shot down in cold blood, allegedly by the owner of the burning home. The guy then allegedly picks up the officer's firearm, reportedly walks down the block and shoots another on duty officer with the first officers gun (that officer was wounded but his body armor protected him from death or a serious injury). By that point fire engines that had responded were backing away hurriedly.
 
Sometime after the officers were shot, the gunman was shot and killed by whom I am imagining was an off duty officer based on what was reported in a Fox News article. According to that article: "The gunman, who was not immediately identified, was shot to death by a Tallahassee police officer who lived nearby. The officer heard the initial shooting, grabbed his gun and ran toward the house..."

I am guessing that since it was a Saturday that maybe the off duty officer had to drop a paint brush, or the sponge with which he was washing his car, or the tongs with which he was turning some hotdogs on the grill, or the beer he had been about to enjoy, or the baseball bat he was using to hit a few balls to his son as he too responded. Even though he was responding for a the same reason as the on duty officers - to save lives -  he had heard the shots and knew he was running into a shootout and was not responding to a 911 call about a house fire. Think about that before the next time you condemn all cops - yep, many of them truly are the good guys.
 
The whole thing seems as if it must have been a preplanned ambush designed to target the cops and maybe was also a suicide by cop. Whatever it was and however it unfolded, to me it seems the work of a madman or maybe even a terrorist.
 
My condolences go out to the family, loved ones and friends of the fallen officer.
 
My congratulations for a job well done go to the apparent off duty officer who responded to and ended the rampage.
