Got Gout...

...drink cherry juice. While that suggestion is merely my opinion based on my own personal experience, I think it has done wonders for me. A few months ago, despite having taken Allopurinol for years now, I started to have recurrences of gout attacks. They were some of the most painful I have ever had but not quite the worst. and they were hitting more joints than ever before. They were coming on every week or two, whereas before the attacks were usually several weeks to months apart. I literally could not go two weeks without having a least one attack and as I said sometimes they came on weekly. Nothing had changed in my diet or my alcohol consumption except that I had imbibed a few beers during hunting season, I had been avoiding beers for quite awhile before that.

So, I cut back on alcohol, cut back on red meats, cut back on certain seafood and hoped that would help. It did not. I saw my doctor who prescribed a larger than usual dose of Prednisone for me and that helped but also probably caused a thrush attack in my throat. I also had to resort to the use of opioids for the pain and got a few days prescription (only 3 or 4 days) of which I still have two pills left - and that was months ago - I took it very sparingly. While the pain from the continuing attacks wound up becoming less severe, I was worried the next one, at any given time, would be worse than the others. My doctor told me that if my situation did not improve  or if it worsened, she would switch my gout medication to Uloric. That did not happen!

I have not switched medications. I am back to eating pretty much what I ate before this most recent spate of attacks. I am drinking (even had a few beers while visiting my son in AR - and beer is the worst type of alcoholic drink for the gout sufferers as I understand it); yet, the gout has not returned in over a month now. Maybe this is temporary and maybe not. I think that it is due to one thing I have added to my diet - cherry juice (that is my opinion and not medical advice nor medical information).

I had read on several websites, including respected medical sites, that cherry juice may have (not definitely has but may have) anti-uric acid qualities. The buildup of uric acid crystals in your joints is what causes gout attacks. I had also heard from several folks that cherry juice seemed to perform miracles in helping rid them, or people they know, of the gout or at least of its painful symptoms. So I tried it. I have been drinking it now since at least early March if not late February. Chuck (I hope I have the name right, I am terrible with names) the owner (or son of the owner) of the Hotel Exchange bar (excellent bar) in Geneva, NY told me about the effects of Cheribundi on one of his relatives. He said it worked like a miracle to stave off the gout. He also said it was made right there in Geneva. I checked around some when I got home and found it was available at my local Costco - how could I not try it.

Thus, I started off with Cheribundi which is a mix of tart cherry juice (not from concentrate) and apple juice. When down in AR, visiting Brendan and doing some grocery shopping, I came across Old Orchard 100% Tart Cherry Juice (from concentrate, no other fruit juices are mixed in). I like them both but I like the Old Orchard better due to personal preference of the taste of it compared to the other - and mind you they both taste very good. While I give the edge to Old Orchard because of taste - it also get sthe edge because they make it from 100% cherry juice (even if from concentrate).

Right now, I have a few bottles of Cheribundi on hand because they sell it at Costco and because I have not been able to find the Old Orchard locally. I did find it available, by the case, on the Old Orchard website. So, I just ordered a case. and will be switching back o that soon. With my kind of luck though, I will get the case and almost immediately start having gout attacks again. Of course, sometimes I do have good luck and maybe it really is what has prevented further attacks so far and will keep doing so; I am hopeful.

At the very least, I am drinking something that tastes great even if tart and that goes well with Kirchwasser, vodka and I am guessing will go well with gin and possibly Tequila as well. If I am going to drink while having the gout, I figure that I may as well drink several ounces of the hoped for cure along with my booze. Besides that, I am getting a decent dose of antioxidants and I suppose a few servings of fruit at the same time.

Scientist Thinks Brits Overreact To Poisoning Case - I Think Not

Reading the title above, you may think I am asking about the recent case of the Russian spy and his daughter who were poisoned with a potentially deadly nerve agent but that is not it at all. It was reported, yesterday by Fox News here, that a Brit named Chris Matthews (no alleged relationship to the jerkoff at MSNBC) called police about a possible poisoning case involving himself and his family and Brit authorities responded in force. He and his family's reported symptoms were difficulty maintaining body temperatures, eye problems, nausea, difficulty breathing, grogginess. He thought they all had come down with the flu. Then his dogs also came down with symptoms and that is when he realized something was wrong. He called the police to report that he and his family possibly had been poisoned. The authorities responded in force:

"Dozens of emergency officers, a hazardous area response team and ambulances surrounded the home, the BBC reports."

A scientist visiting his mother, who lived in the same neighborhood, was caught up in the police cordon and had this to say (same source as linked to above):

"Went for a cuppa with Mum. When I left confronted by this. Trapped within police cordon," he tweeted, along with a photo of police cruisers. "Palytoxin incident due to a neighbor cleaning his coral tank. Second deadliest naturally occurring toxin in the world (allegedly) but rarely kills, & only if eaten! Over-reaction?"

Get that, the guy and his family were stricken because of him doing something as seemingly innocuous as cleaning his fish tank. That released a natural toxin, produced by coral, into the air or onto his skin and he and his family were affected by the toxin - PALYTOXIN - A TOXIN THAT IS ALLEGEDLY THE SECOND DEADLIEST NATURALLY OCCURING TOXIN IN THE WORLD!

Now the scientist may think the Brits overreacted but I think not, at least as much in that I think maybe they put precaution first. Sometimes you really have to look at the big picture in LE responses to such situations and understand that they are being precautious for what probably is a fair to good reason. As much as I do not like overreaction by the government to anything, I think that the so called scientist may have forgotten the recent poisoning of the Russian spy and his daughter but the police had not. I think he may also have not thought that the police are concerned with terrorism as well and that England is a known spot of terrorist activity in the world. I also think that the police must have found it odd that someone called them saying he and his family possibly had been poisoned by a toxin due to him cleaning his fish tank. In light of recent events, my guess is that they - believing there was a possibility of a nexus to terrorism, or with spy killers, or maybe just that some whacko had been diddling with nerve agents or other toxins in his home - responded appropriately just in case. Of course, maybe it was just a boring day for the authorities involved and they all wanted to enjoy some excitement.

Anyway, you can bet I am not about to ever touch a live coral, maybe not even a recently dead coral since I do not know if the toxin can last on it. I do have one piece of coral in my home that I clean off now and again but have no worries with it as I found it on a mountainside in CA many years ago. It is fossilized. The moral of this story is, when your son or daughter say: "Daddy, that is so beautiful, can I touch it" just say no and move along, at least if it's coral. Then again, if you keep coral in your home (that is not fossilized), take appropriate precautions to avoid something like that from happening to you and your family.

Do Unto Others As They Would Do Unto You

Yes, I said "Do Onto Others As They Would Do Unto You". Just make sure to do onto them before they do unto you, especially if they are like a lion . In other words, shoot the bastard before he kills you.

Was That My Son Driving That Rig!!!!!!!!!

You may know from reading it here, my son is a truck driver by trade.

If for a second I thought that it was Brendan driving that truck, I'd be begging him to start a new career. Then again, I know he drives safer than that; maybe not better luckier cause that was one hell of a lucky move but certainly safer! Of course, if that had been him - I'd also be buying him a good bottle of whatever he wanted so we could celebrate his impressive driving skills and his still being alive.

?Shots Fired? As Reporter Reporting On You Tube Shooting...

...or so the reporter would have had us all believe. The noise she heard, although a pop or pop-pop, reportedly was far from being gunshots. According to the source, it was nothing more than someone opening a soda pop can.

Was she just being skittish or is it that the fucking media lefties are praying they hear shots fired so they can run yet another anti-gun piece!

You Tube Shooting - Witness Interview

The link I am about to supply is to a video of an alleged witness to the You Tube shooting as he is interviewed by the media. Not a bad interview as they go, the media was actually listening to the guy and the one reporter actually starts asking some decent but liturgical questions. The witness goes over the whole thing quite rapidly and can possibly confuse you a bit the first time. Then he goes over it again, better the second time in my estimation and then yet again while being questioned.

Here is the link:
https://www.google.com/amp/insider.foxnews.com/amp/article/60965

The witness seemed to be obviously rattled. Mind you, I don't think it the fault of the witness that the answers seemingly were coming fast and maybe confusing at first - he just witnessed one hell of an traumatic event and I am sure his nerves were more than merely jangled. His adrenalin must have had his heart rate through the roof and his nerves firing off like crazy. He seemed hurried at times to get it all out and seemed to jump from one thing to another. I suppose that is to be expected sometimes when folks try to cope with  describing a life threatening, indeed a life ending one in this case, situation that has just passed. So, I am guessing, the interview answers were a hurried jumble of what happened as this poor man tried to put it all together. He did a pretty good job nonetheless, let us hope he was not bullshitting.

There was one part of the interview where he said one of the most intelligent and insightful things I have ever heard a witness say about such a shooting after just having witnessed it. Having just written that, I have a little challenge for you:

Watch the whole 7 minute video and listen carefully to the audio. Then tell me, in a comment to this blog post, what was it that the witness said that I found to be  intelligent and insightful of the situation he had just witnessed. It is a single sentence - nothing more - among many sentences. My guess is that the first person who hears it will get guess right but then who can say until someone does it.

Click photo to enlarge.
By the way, the first person (who is 18 years old or older) to guess right and then mention what it was that I thought was so intelligent and insightful in the words of the witness (in the linked video) will win a new (old stock) Uncle Mike's Sidekick Nylon Holster for medium & large frame revolvers with 6.5" barrels (size 3, model 8103-1, right hand). This will fit a revolver like a Ruger Redhawk. If you win it and do not have a suitable revolver for this holster - getting the revolver is up to you as the holster does not come with a firearm.

This contest is only open to legal residents and citizens of the United States of America residing within the lower 48 states (therefore excluding AK, HI, all U.S. possessions and so forth) who may legally receive and possess this holster. I will ship on my dime. You must send me a copy of your ID showing your name, address and DOB showing you are 18 or older in order for me to ship it to you; if you don't want to do that the prize will be awarded to someone who will do it in order of whomever had the next correct guess in that order on down. It must ship to an address that is not a mail drop or post office box since I may ship UPS. If not UPS, it will be sent by Priority Mail. Note, in the event of a tie, a tie being my having received correct answers from more than one person in emails received by me at the same exact time, I will choose among those correct answers by random lot to select the winner. You can submit your answer from the moment this post is posted to my blog up until 11:59 PM Saturday night, April 25, 2018. Only one entry per person, that is on the honor system. Good luck.

Home Again - Or To Borrow From The Hobbit...

...There And Back Again - so went the trip to Arkansas to visit Brendan. I left his place yesterday at 0840 local time or 0940 EDST (my time in NY). I arrived in Washington, PA at 2355 (1156PM) EDST last night - after driving 887.3 miles. That was 14 hours and 15 minutes and included stopover time for rest stops, gas and food of 1 hour 15 minutes. Total drive time was 13 hours. I am pretty certain that is the longest I have ever driven in one day, I think my prior record was approximately 750 miles. I was up for it though and feeling good for 99% of it. Getting out of my car and walking to the front desk of the motel, to check in, was the most difficult part - my legs were stiff, numb and rubbery at the same time.

I drove the rest of the way today, starting out at about 0920 EDST from the motel in PA and drove about 408 miles or so and got home at 1655. That amounted to 7 hours 35 minutes total time with stops and 7 hours of actual drive time. The drive was exacerbated by heavy downpours and fog on an off through about 1/2 of my drive through PA, then more rain/mist in NJ and NY and about a 25 minute delay getting over the George Washington Bridge and then the regular crappy NYC rush hour traffic.

All in all though, not a bad bit of driving. I kept thinking last night that all I had to do was down a bottle of extra strength 5 Hour Energy and I could have driven it straight through. I was happy that another thought pushed that one aside, the thought of me being found wrapped around a tree along the highway. That was all I needed as impetus to stay overnight in a motel.

I already miss Brendan down in AR but am happy to be home too. Truly a bitter-sweet feeling.

All the best,
Glenn B

It's Probably My Last Full Day In Arkansas...

...and I am sitting here in my son's apartment as he zones out on Call Of Duty. Truth is, I just sat down. So far today, I have eaten breakfast that Brendan cooked (sort of - he made some bacon on a rack in the oven - and damned fine was it), done the dishes, gone to Walmart to pick up some things (a rolling pin, some flat fix and a tire gauge (would have sworn I had both in my trunk but damned if I can find them now), a t-shirt for my grandson, some fishing lures (to add to Brendan's tackle box) and some music CD's (they were an afterthought) and then went to the gas station to fill up the Corolla's tank for my upcoming journey home. Got back to his place and started making an apple pie - it's aroma is wafting out of the oven as I type. Then I cleaned up the mess from that and I sure do make a mess when rolling the dough - flour everywhere. While in the process of making it, I got in touch with the wife to get the temps right for baking it. Started drinking right before or was it right after that! Go figure.

Once that pie is finished baking, we have to figure out what to do to kill a few hours. I am guessing we will go out to eat. Of course, we could just have salad and some sandwiches here (do not have fixins for much else). I think going out would be the thing to do. All in all it's been kind of a ho-hum, not to special day, even though my last day here. That is a good thing, I think. This way there will not be too much of a let down when I have to leave tomorrow. Life just goes on as usual (well that is bullshit - I kind of, sort of, just about miss Brendan already and am still here with him).

Anyway, after we eat later, I need to fold my wash or just throw it in my bag. Then I have to clean out my car's trunk only to fill it with all my stuff to make the trip home. hen I think we will both drink some more and probably watch Trailer Park Boys. If nothing else we enjoyed together on this visit - it was Trailer Park Boys. I never even heard of it before this trip; yet, al I can think about it now is how did I never watch this before! I am up to season 8 and I think season 12 just started showing on Netflix. Of course, we had a lot of fun together doing other things when Brendan was not at work. Did I mention, he started a new job the day I got here - so we have had evenings and weekends together only. Then again, at least he has weekends off on this job as opposed a to when he worked for Pepsi when he often got split days off. So, we have been able to go fishing a couple of times, shooting another, to a friends house for a party another, out drinking and dining a few times and so on. Yesterday we went canoeing on the Caddo River with a canoe from Caddo River Camping & Canoe. Great outfit and a fine river on which to canoe and fish. Brendan's buddies Walter & Joseph came with us and we had a goo time. Between us we caught only three fish but that was okay, the camaraderie made it for us. That is usually the case, isn't it!

The Mindless Sheep Never Learn...

...the only reason politicians want to take away our guns is so that they can control the populace without opposition. History shows that as true again and again and again regardless of the balderdash they spew about protecting you. Protecting you and keeping you from being killed - by psychos, dirtbags, criminals of all sorts - has nothing to do with it because banning guns has nothing to do with ending illegal violence.

Take for example London England where virtually all self defense type firearms have been banned. The murder rate there has now surpassed that of New York City and guess what are being used to kill people there - edged weapons (more at the source). So tell me all of you on the gun banning left - what would you have them do in London? Would you have them register assault knives or just ban them outright! Oh yeah, that's right, they already have quite restrictive laws on what types of knives you may possess and when you may possess them.

Maybe the real answer would be dealing with the filth of society that cause most of the violent crime.

A Happy Easter Wish & A Belated Wish of Happy Passover

To all who celebrate, I wish a very Happy Easter. Likewise to all who celebrate Passover. To those who do not celebrate, have a nice day so long as you are not one of the type to persecute those who do celebrate because of their religious beliefs that do not impinge on your own beliefs and rights.

If you are the type to be angered by someone celebrating their religion freely and who are offended by folks openly practicing - go fuck yourself - that includes members of other religions whose dogma is to wipe out those of different faiths. Nope that may not have been very religious of me but I am an agnostic at most when it comes to religion; yet, people celebrating their faith, without harming others, does not offend me like it does the snowflakes.
Their psyches are delicate and everything other than what they mindlessly believe offends them.

Cute Little Snapper Had Nice Tight Tail...

...so how could I pass up not grabbing her by it! More behind the cover.

Stay Alert At The ATM...

...because terrible things can happen if you do not. One of the things about an ATM, that we all need to bear in mind, is that when using them our backs are turned to the rest of the world. In one recent case, a man using an ATM - and evidently paying attention only to it - became the victim of violent and fatal robbery (more info at the source). Don't let it happen to you - stay alert, turn around once or twice and check your surroundings, it could at least let you know danger might be approaching and give you a chance to flee or prepare to defend yourself.

I Went To Pigeon Roost Range Yesterday...

...first of all to locate it and secondly to see if it was worth going there for a day with Brendan before I leave AR. We shot at Bear Mountain Range on Sunday but that place was a pig sty of old targets, shell casings, ammo boxes and other debris. AS guy shooting there, Drew XXX told us about Pigeon Roost Range saying it was a nicer range. I decided to wait until today, when I figured I would be calmer than I was yesterday, to write this - why will become evident shortly.

When I got to the area where Pigeon Roost Range was located, I drove around for about 15 minutes trying to find it. Google Maps had it on the map but not in the right place. It kept telling me it was just where a small forest road, probably an old logging road, met Pigeon Roost Road but I sure did not see any sign of it there. I was going to drive up that little logging road but thought better of it with the Corolla and decided to park the car and walk up the road. I walked for about half a mile and found nothing but more road ahead so I headed back to the car.

I found some interesting animal remains just off the logging road that I had missed on the way up. At first I thought it was the bones of a long dead bear but later came to realize it was probably the remains of a wolf. That was after Brendan saw them and said it was the skull of a dog of some sort. Only if it was a Great Dane would it have a skull that big and I figure there were not many of them running around in the woods. Not many wolves either according to the Arkansas Fish & Game Commission but there are what they call wolf/dog crosses. My guess is still that it's a wolf after having viewed the images of quite a few wolf skulls online and comparing them to the one I came across.

The skull was pretty much intact and there was one lower jaw from it there next to it on the ground. I could not find the other. The bones were strewn about in maybe a 15 to 20 foot wide area. There were a bunch of other bones too. Some obviously from a pelvis, others were leg bones, and there were quite a few vertebrae. I was none too sure that they were all from the same animal and the reason for that was because there were at least two hooves in the mix, they were right near the pelvic bones. I was thinking that maybe the wolf or wolf-dog had eaten a hooved critter shortly before its death and still had the undigested hooves within its gut when it died. They were not deer hooves but the type that would maybe come from a pony and there were many ponies on the surrounding properties in the area. It will forever be a mystery I suppose but that's my best guess. Anyway, I digress so let me get back to the range.

I found Pigeon Roost Range, maybe a half mile or less from the spot where the logging road intersected with Pigeon Roost Road; it was actually on Forest Service Road 27A, that forks off of Pigeon Roost. I parked in the parking area that had to be big enough for at least 8-10 or more vehicles and headed to the range on the concrete walkway from the lot. That was already an improvement from Bear Mountain Range. A short walk brought me to the firing line of the range which was protected under roofed structure open on all sides. There were six points, each with a bench, all atop a concrete slab under the roof. The range itself looked to be 100 yards or so and had a concrete walkway from the firing line all the way to the 100 yard line along the left side of the range. At about 25 and 50 yards there was a walkway at each that went across the range from side to side and where target stands once were position but evidently have long since been missing with only rusted stubs remaining.

I walked out to the 100 yard line and noted a lot of trash all over the range despite there being a trash bin behind the overhang at the firing line. The trash bins being full of trash might have had something to do with the range being strewn with a lot more of it but I think it was just due to slob shooters. There was a pile of trash next to the bins at least indicating that some shooters felt obliged to clean the range if not carry away their trash with them when they left it. While I was at the 100 yard line, I heard a vehicle pull into the range parking lot. As I walked back to the firing line, a young man stepped up to the first or second point, puts his rifle case on it, pulls out an AR15 or similar rifle, loads a standard magazine into it (20 or 30 round) and proceeds to point the rifle downrange with me walking back toward him. There was no mistake he saw my car and no mistake he had seen me because he nodded when I said hello and waived to be sure he knew I was there. I was at about 15 or 20 yard line when he pointed the rifle in my general direction, at least his finger was off of the trigger, and I wondered if he was a nut or just an asshole. I was ready to run for cover and to draw my pistol and start shooting should he even twitch his finger and I mean that quite seriously.

I spoke up and politely said: "Excuse me, please do not handle a firearm on the line when you know I'm downrange - it's not safe". To that, he replied: "Who the fuck are you". He said it in a bitterly angry voice as he turned toward me scowling with his rifle in his hands. I almost drew my pistol to defend myself but gave it another verbal try at getting him to put it down or at least point it in another direction. I said: "I have been a firearms instructor for 16 years (it is actually longer) and can say without a doubt that what you are doing is dangerous". My right hand was strategically placed and had a good grip but I am fairly certain he did not notice that because he kept looking at me in the eye and he replied: "Go Fuck yourself..." and muttered something else unintelligible.

I said one last thing: "I am also the guy who is downrange of an asshole who is pointing his rifle my way from the line and for that you could be arrested". At that point his demeanor changed and he turned his rifle 45 degrees toward his right instead of how he had been holding it a bit canted toward his left where I was walking. I got out of there quickly - my right hand still placed on my Glock 26's grip. I was quite happy it had not escalated but I did not take my hand off of the pistol grip until I was in my car. As I departed I took a picture of his vehicle and license plate just in case he got into it with someone else and maybe shot them or even shot himself - he was that much of an arsehat.

Looking back, maybe I could have handled it differently and maybe not but there was no way I was not going to say something to him. I had only wanted him to put it down while I was downrange or at least point it elsewhere so that I would be safe and I was quite polite since he had been holding an AR. Based on his attitude though, my guess is that no matter what was said he would have gotten angry. I got the impression he was an angry young man, quite immature, undisciplined with firearms, and a fool who had to have it his way. I wonder if my telling him I had been an instructor for many years, coupled with the implied threat of arrest, may have had him think I was active law enforcement. Whatever - that seemed to do the trick at last. In all it took maybe half a minute from when I saw him pointing it downrange and angled a bit toward me until he pointed it the other way. It was one hell of a long 30 seconds.

I told Brendan about what had happened an warned him never to go to any of these Forest Service ranges on his own. I had a bad experience at one last year with three assholes who were repeatedly covering me and themselves with loaded weapons, had to deal with an arsehat this past Sunday at Bear Mountain Range who covered us at least twice and maybe three times while loading his handgun behind the line and then this incident yesterday. I am now wondering if maybe we need some form of nationwide mandated firearms training in as much as anyone wanting to shoot should be required to take and pass a basic firearms course before heading to the range.

All the best,
Glenn B

Ammo Deal Alert - Winchester 9mm NATO, 124 Grain FMJ

Bass Pro Shops has an excellent in store deal (at least in their Little Rock, AR store) on Winchester 9mm NATO, 124 grain, FMJ ammo at $10 per box.

Of course, you need to add tax which in the case of their Little Rock store is a whopping 9%! Regardless of the tax, I bought 18 boxes today. It would have ben an even 20 except for the fact I had bought three boxes of it there last week and knew I still had two on hand.

All in all - that is an excellent deal even compared to online pricing in light of my needs. I wanted to buy 500 rounds for my son and 500 for me. Had I bought it online at the least expensive price I could find - with shipping calculated in there, it would have cost a total of $110 to ship 500 rounds to me in NY and another $111 to ship another 500 to my son in AR for a total of $221. The total I spent on a thousand rounds at Bass Pro Shops, in the Little Rock store was $218.

"Such a deal, don't be a schmuck, by another case" is what a little ðŸ˜ˆ voice inside my head keeps urging me to do. The thing is, if they were selling it in cases I might do it especially if I had some spare cash, which I do not. As it is, they do not have it in the cases and I do not need another 20 loose boxes of ammo rattling around in my trunk when I drive back to NY so even if I had the cash to spare, what I have now has to be enough.

Bozo Gone!!!

I have not been keeping up much with the news lately and how could you blame me since I am on vacation but I have been checking a bit now and then. Today's quick review of recent events in the news brought some sadness into my day; I just found out today about the passing of one of my childhood favorites - Bozo The Clown (aka: Frank Avruch). More at the source.

He was one of the top entertainers of children (and probably of many parents too) during my formative childhood years (yes I am as old as the dinosaurs but not yet quite as old as the hills). Bozo The Clown was a staple, a must watch and just downright wholesomely funny. I have never heard a peep alleging that Mr. Avruch molested children nor that he was a weirdo or criminal of any sort nor do I recall him spewing forth apolitical agenda of one extreme or the other (just try to even imagine any of that with a star today, especially one who entertains children). Even though he (Like many other things) became a part of my childhood lost to me long ago, how can he be forgotten - he will be missed.

The Fishing Pier

Brendan and I went shooting yesterday, at Bear Mountain Range - a public range on federal land. He shot his new Yugo SKS, his Beretta M9A3, his Glock 43 and most of the guns I brought along. Mine were the Ruger Redhawk, Glock 30 and a S&W revolver. or some reason, y little gray cells never thought of taking the Colt Detective Special out of my pocket for him to enjoy as well and the Glock 26 never left my hip. Regardless of not shooting those two, we had lots of fun.

After that, we headed to a fishing pier, on the way home, that was located on Remmel Dam Road. We fished for about an hour but had absolutely no luck catching anything (what else is not new). The pier was located in a cove in nice little park that is not on Google Maps. Nice pier on a beautiful cove of
the Ouachita River. I am guessing there must be fish in it but it will be up to us to discover that some other day. Being I have one week here, and as luck would have it Brendan started a new job just before I arrived, it will have to be this coming weekend or not until next time I get down to AR.

Anyway, at least I remembered to get in another kind of shot while at the pier. I do not like selfies, they are not flattering with me looking about 10 years older than my actual age but since Brendan is in this one too - how can I not share it. Him being in the shot makes it worth it. Got some other pics of him too.

Fish or no fish - we had lots of fun - it was an excellent day yesterday!

All the best,
