Commenting On My Blogs

If you would like to leave comments on my blog, I ask that you do so with courtesy, respect, at least a smidgen of decency, and when doing so that you write coherently. I do not mind if you disagree with me or others, that is your privilege, heck it is your right. However, when I receive comments that are rambling almost totally incoherent, disrespectful, indecent and even threatening - well, I will not publish them and that is my right.

I just received a comment, to my most recent previous posting about the CARS program and health care, and the comment was in my opinion rude, incoherent to a great extent, rambling, less than respectful and I think it contained a threat against me. I have taken appropriate action at this stage.

I regret that my writing up a post like this was necessary but I suppose there is no explanation or excuse for the kooks in the world and the way they screw things up for the rest of us.

Okay, so I havn't blogged in a bit...

...but that is only because I have been busy getting ready for my trip to Arizona this coming Monday. Hopefully once I am at my hotel they will have a computer or two available for guests and I'll be able to get off at least a few blogs a week while I'm in AZ. I'll try to get out something this weekend, but no promises, just to busy getting things done I should have done weeks ago plus my packing.

I've Been Busy...

...I've been down in the dumps (for personal reasons I will not go into on my blog), and i just have not had a lot of time to blog. Maybe tomorrow, or Friday for something.

An Apology Due To My Lack of Blogging

Sorry for the lack of blogging over the past 4 days. Some nights when I get home from work I am just too pooped. Getting older I guess. Some other times I just don't have the inspiration. Other times it's both.

I have a few things lined up to blog about over the next few days. For instance I went to a Gun Show yesterday. Pretty much fun because I met an old friend there, but missed some others I wished could have made it. Not as much fun as in years gone by because of the lousy selection and prices, but that will be its own story.

I also have a new addition to the reptile collection. It won't be with me for long, as it was an adoption I took from someone to essentially adopt out to someone else. Easier for me to make sure it gets to someone who will care for it properly, and in the meantime I have another mouth to feed, and something else of which to snap some shots for your viewing pleasure.

Of course I could talk about politics, even though I am getting sick of it, I guess it needs talking about now and then.

Then there is the garden, that is starting to come along too. So as you can see I do have stuff lined up. Later for more blogging though, right now I have to clean my animals, clean the basement, do some gardening, and maybe refinish our front door if it looks as if the rain will hold off. I have to do all that before the liquor store closes because I'd like to pick up a bottle of Vodka. I have sworn off of beers and ales for the most part because I just started a diet. Again, that is another story to come.

Hello Up There In The Cold North Country!

I don't know who you are, or how many you are - but I have an idea of where you are. I am pretty darned certain that you are the person(s) furthest north on the plantet who read(s) my blog. So I just wanted to say hello, welcome and thanks to whoever is (are) the visitor(s) up there in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada who keep(s) coming back to read my blog. I am humbled by your recurrent visits, and by the fact that you must like something about this site. Thanks a million.

The 18th Annual LIHS Reptile Expo Is Today...

...so I'll be a busy guy, which means no or little blogging today, and if any more than this it will be late tonight.

Worlwide Attention...

...is flattering, although I won't let it go to my head. It is also kind of interesting. I use the services of Site Meter (for free too), and the hand site metering service they provide allows me to review how many hits my site gets each day, the location they come from, the time they hit, the duration of a visit to my site, the entry page, the exit page, the referring page if any and so forth. A neat thing is that you can view the hits to your site, up to the last 100 of them anyway(more if you pay for the service, but I am tight). This includes being able to view the site hits by world map. The location of the viewer comes up as a dot on a map of the world, and if you run your cursor over the dot, the location is spelled out for you in a pop-up. of course you can also see the locations from whence someone pulled up your site on their PC in written form under the 'by details' or 'by location' options. I like the map thingy.

Over the past two days, I got over 80 hits yesterday (a great day for my blog) I have had virtual visitors from: Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, India, Italy, Puerto Rico (yes I realize it is part of the USA). I also had virtual visitors from 27 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico , New York, North Carolina, Ohio,
Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming. From a few days before, I remember someone from Alaska stopping by. Yes the Internet, and its ability to allow folks from all over the world to blog, communicate, share ideas, go explore in virtual space, expand their horizons, is an amazing thing.

A Blogger's Inspiration

…Well, even though my last post received only three comments, along with thosee comments I found not just words but inspiration. Those nice, and very thoughful comments helped put things into perspective. Then while I was still thinking about whether or not I should keep up blogging, I listened to one of my all time favorite songs, The Highwayman as sung by The Highwaymen (Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson) . It also helped put things into perspective as to whether or not I would continue with my rants:

"…I’ll find a place to rest my spirit if I can,

Perhaps I may become a highwayman again,

Or I may simply be a single drop of rain, but I will remain,
And I’ll be back again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again…"

Some Rest For The Weary...

...and for the somewhat dejected, is just what I think I need when it comes to blogging. While I enjoy blogging, I must admit it is a bit difficult to keep it up each and every day, or even for most of the days in a week. Just having the time to blog sometimes presents a problem. Then, when I do have the time, having the insight and energy to think up and research new interesting topics, let alone actually write them up, can be even more trying. This is especially true in light of the fact that I work full time, do some chores around my house, and care for my many critters. Add to this a bit of dejection about the fact that my blog is usually not read by more than two dozen people in a good day, and it makes it almost seem less than worthwhile an effort on which to spend so much time, thought and energy. Nomatter what I have done, I cannot seem to increase my daily readership. I guess I mean it appears to me that blogging is somewhat of a drain on me intellectually and physically, and besides that, it seems to be a flop.

So I think I will take a day or two off, maybe even a few, to try and think over whether or not I should continue sharing my thoughts with those of you who are graciously nice enough to read my rants. If I do choose to discontinue, it will not be because I think less of my readers, and will not be because I think your loyal readership is not worth it, but rather because I have come to an impasse with all of the combined facts that appear above.
