West By God Virginia

I took this picture while on a prior trip through
WV. Coincidentally, this trip will wind us up in
the very same county of West 'By God' Virginia.
Tomorrow, after work (how I wish I wasn't working tomorrow), Brendan and I are going to hop into the family limo along with a couple of rifles, a shotgun (or two) and about four pistols and a revolver and head on down to West By God Virginia for a bloggershoot. I am also debating bringing along three rifles in 22LR.

It's a lot to haul and a long way to drive for a one day shoot but it should be well worth it considering it is a father son road trip. We will be meeting up with some people we already know, like Jay GBubblehead Les and Nancy and should be meeting some new faces too. We have a lot of fun when we go on these trips what with the drive to new places (for us), the getting together with good folks and the putting lots of lead downrange.  Anyway, I know I do and I hope Brendan does too (pretty sure he does otherwise why come along with me again).

As for the specifics on what we are toting along, they will be:

Remington 870
Marlin 25MN
Romanian WASR 10 (AK style rifle)
Remington R1 1911
Beretta 92SB (my Ballseye pistol)
Glock 26
Ortgies 32 Auto
S&W Model 17

The maybe will bring guns include:

Stevens Model 66B
Henry Survival Rifle
Remington 241 Speedmaster

I think we will have enough ammo but if not, we are going to be shooting at a commercial range so we can buy more. I probably packed about 400-500 rounds of 7.62x39mm, 300-400 of 22 LR, 150 rounds of 22 WMR, 500 rounds of .45 ACP, 400-500 rounds of 9mm, and about 50-75 rounds of 32 Auto. Add to that about 50-75 rounds of 12 gauge slugs and I think we can have some fun. Hopefully I did not forget ammo or the mags for any of the guns.

I also made sure that I have my LEOSA cards, my NYS pistol license and a copy of New Jersey's rules for transporting guns through NJ. I figure that to be the only possibly problematic state through which we plan on traveling although I am not all that sure about Maryland. Our route goes from NY into NJ, then into PA, then into Maryland and onto W (BG) V. I checked on the NRA's Guide To The Interstate Transportation Of Firearms and while they mention being careful to dot all the i's and cross all the t's in NJ, they said nothing about Maryland. Thank the heavens we do not have to travel through or even around DC. The rules there, in our nation's capital, are outrageous considering it is the seat of our federal government and where the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights are enshrined.

That's it for now, have to be up early for work so need to get ready to hit the hay. Will blog about the trip on our return on Sunday night (or maybe will blog it on Monday).

All the best,
Glenn B
