Surprise Independence

Independence of another sort - independent of any covering! I came across this gif file in my files accidentally today. I must say, she reminds me very much of a gal with whom I went to school and knew back in my teen years into my twenties. That gal also, I think, was at least a double D and in more ways than one. To avoid trouble, I will not say in what ways.

It's Almost The Real Independence Day

Just three days after today and a wake up and it will be July 4, 2025, in other words it will be the real Independence Day in the USA. No offense to black folks but Juneteenth is not in any way shape or form National Independence Day. Let's face it, slaves were not made independent on that day, they were freed from slavery (although there were still slaves of various races held by native Americans after that date). That it was named National Independence day is a slap in the face to all Americans as this country's independence from a foreign tyrant and a tyrannical nation actually was achieved on July 4, 1776.

Juneteenth would have been better named National Freedom Day or National Emancipation Day because that is what took place on that day for African American slaves (in fact for slaves of any race) in the USA. As for Independence Day - we should all celebrate that as being on July 4. July4, 1776 - was the actual historical day of U.S. Independence but of course the liberals had to screw over even that day for all of us by saying Juneteenth is National Independence Day. What then is July 4th - is it non-National Independence Day!!! Politicians are truly arsehats for the most part, especially the liberals.

Anyway, I would like to wish all U.S. Citizens and all legal resident aliens a very safe and happy Independence Day. I am doing it this far in advance in anticipation of being busy later in the week. Enjoy your BBQs and other celebrations, please be very careful with the fireworks, and don't drink or get high and then BBQ, handle fireworks or drive. Stay safe and healthy so you, your family & loved ones, and all around you can enjoy the holiday that actually commemorates this country's actual independence.

Have You Ever Thought About An Unchanging Truth In Your Life...

...and realized that you have held onto at least one truth about yourself throughout most, if not all, of your adult life?

...I did just that a few minutes ago. That truth is what it says in my email signature line and appears elsewhere on some gun forums as the same. That thought preceded the Internet by many years but it first appeared in print on the web. It is:

When I look in the mirror, I am happy to see, some of the nine year old boy, that (or who) used to be me. "That" was the original word, and the one I like to think fits better but either will do!

There is no truer truth that I think about myself as I grow older and older because I am formed in his image - upon his strengths and hopes! I hope he hangs around with me until the very end and that my little gray cells will be strong enough to still realize he is within me  still at that very moment, whenever that time comes.

Watch The Skies

That is an excellent piece of advice, for law enforcement from the movie The Thing From Another World.

Authorities seem to think the father whom they suspect killed his three young children may be dead in a wilderness area. They have brought in a cadaver dog to search for him, more at the source

There well may be something better to depend upon -  vultures in number circling in the skies.

Learning Languages & A Proud Grandpa

My great grandmother was a Gottscheer my great grandfather (only one I new, he was her second husband) was from Hamburg, Germany as best I can recall. My great grandmother, got a job, soon after arriving in the USA as a house servant for a Mrs. Whistler (I always wondered if she was related to the famous subject of the portrait Whistler's mother, Anna Matilda (née McNeill) Whistler). In her very early days there, my great grandmother was brought before Mrs.Whistler, she was young and scared. Luckily even though she spoke little to no English, Mrs. Whistler spoke to her in fluent German. She told my great grandmother: 'from this moment forward, you will speak no other language in my house other than English'. From then on, while she did speak covertly to other servants in German to help her learn English, she never did so in front of Mrs. Whistler and she learned to speak English as fast as she could learn. In no time she had mastered her new language, then it was English only. She became one of Mrs. Whistler's favorite servants if not her actual favorite. She wound up working for Mrs. Whistler for many years until Mrs. Whistler died. Much to my great grandmother's surprise she was left a small fortune by Mrs. Whistler. When she told me this story, many times, I could see that she would well up with pride and honor to have done so.

After she got married, her husband supposedly told her he was going to California to seek his fortune. He never returned. My great grandmother would tell all who asked, that she was informed he died out there. Years later the rumor was he had abandoned her and went back to Gottschee, but that came from some of her grandchildren. No one knows for sure but I tended to believe my great grandmother because she then remarried the great grandfather, whom I came to know, and she was quite moral. As I said he was from Hamburg, Germany and was the son of the headmaster of a school. His dad wanted him to follow in his footsteps but he had other plans. He ran away from home in his later teens and became a merchant seaman. He sailed around the world, saw shipmates attacked and eaten by sharks, saw other shipmates killed by Nile crocodiles and was arrested in Havana, Cuba with another shipmate when their ship sailed without them because they were too drunk to make it back aboard in time on the morning after a night of carousing. They were promptly deported aboard another ship that was headed to the same port as was their ship. Luckily, or not, they were reunited in the next port and immediately put in the brig on bread and water. That did not last too long, at least for my great grandfather as he was the head chef aboard that ship. He always told me that it was well worth it because Havana was the best port city of them all prior to Castro, lots of good cigars, excellent casinos, beautiful women and just lots of fun. Well, much the same as my great grandmother, when he immigrated to the USA he quickly learned to speak English, he had also learned some Spanish when a merchant seaman.

They both became U.S. Citizens by way of naturalization. When I was about to go into the Border Patrol, to begin my career in federal law enforcement in 1979, she took out their naturalization certificates, and showed them to me for not the first time. If I remember right, they both were naturalized at the same naturalization service. The date was July 4th, cannot recall the year, I believe it was in Yankee stadium but I''ll be damned if I swear to that, it is a vague memory. As she told me how wonderful it was to become a .S. citizen tears rolled down her cheeks - she was immensely prouder than even her time with Mrs. Whistler about them becoming citizens. She told me it had been the proudest day of her life.

The aliens who illegally enter our country now, or at least during the time years of my career from 1979 to 2011, who are/were from Central & South America, for the most part do not strive to become citizens in my experience. Many only want to make money and send it home to their families, then depart, spend their earnings, then return illegally again. I am guessing, based on my experience and on interviews of literally thousands of illegals, that at least 60 to 75% of the illegal aliens from south of the border fit that description as do many from other parts of the world. My other guess is that it is the same currently but that is pretty much pure guesswork based upon what I see of them on the news when they exhibit total disregard for our laws and customs). Of course, many illegal aliens hope to do right (after the fact they they entered against the law) and hope to earn citizenship sooner or later but I am convinced not most. Instead, of deportations, this country has catered to them from countries south of the southern border, making Spanish a second U.S. Language and allowing, even encouraging millions of criminals (every illegal alien has committed a crime when entering this country illegally or overstaying a visa - that is an absolute fact that only democrats, RINOs & other leftists try to dispute as far as I am aware) to enter illegally and stay here without any negative consequences. Joe Biden obviously did it for political reasons, to gain future voters whom he and other democrats believed would vote in more liberals and they did not care if those millions included the scum of the earth like murderers, rapists, child molesters, gang members and so on. Biden made my blood boil when he did so. If I was prone to committing illegal acts, I may have tried to attend one of his rallies to punch him in his ugly face but I most certainly do not do stuff like that nor do I want to go to jail. So I just voted for Trump - again, this last time being the third time.

Coincidentally, my wife just sent me a picture, less than 30 seconds ago, as I write this last part:

Ryan's Medal.webp

It is of my grandson. My wife as born in Germany, came here legally, naturalized and of course learned to speak fluently in English. She sent our daughter to German language school. Well my daughter did likewise with our grandson. The picture my wife just sent me shows my grandson (my step-daughter's son for clarification) wearing a bronze medal. Of course he speaks English and that will always be his first language but it is okay to learn another one, especially that of your ancestors to honor them, or even that of the country you entered illegally if you really want to acclimate. My grandson was awarded that medal today for being the most improved student in German grammar at a German language school on Long Island in NY. Das ist sehr gut!

And We're Off...

...not to Oz to see the wizard but to a better place - Deadwood, SD. The we being my son Brendan and I and we are looking forward to some fun for about 5 days in that mecca of the wild west. Of course, a visit to Mt. Rushmore is in order as well, maybe to a casino too.

Pictures later, depending on how many Brendan takes as my camera phone is quasi busted, bad lens.

Another Trump Assassination Attempt...

...will come within the next month or two at most is my prediction. I base my guess upon the statements made by who I see as a fairy like piece of shit - Tim Walz (more at the source).

The leftist anti-American scum, as I see them, like Walz, Comey, Pelosi and Schumer who make statements that hint of committing violence against President Trump or his administration should be arrested and tried for treason in my opinion.

You probably can safely bet Walz's comments, coming so soon aftet Comey posting 86-47, will spur on a leftist kook to try to take out President Trump sooner than later.

I hope I am not right but fear that I am.

A Happy And Solemn Memorial Day

I say happy Memorial Day not because it is a three day weekend or the start of summer fun but because you should be happy to live in the USA and happy for the rights we have and our liberties to enjoy them. We would not have them if not for the ultimate sacrifice made by so many of our military service members who lost their lives for our great nation and for us and that is why it should be a solemn day as well as a happy one. Take at least a moment if not most of the day to think of they in our military who perished during war or other conflict while fighting for the USA.

Although written by a Canadian, this poem says it all about the sacrifices made by too many military troops.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
                      In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
                      In Flanders fields.
The author, lost his life in WW I.

Another Case Of A Police Officer Who Is Lucky Not To Be Dead...

...because, in my opinion, he did way too much wrong and did not take immediate action to end the threat once the threat presented itself. In this instance a police officer pulls over a man driving a car with an expired inspection sticker. The guy tells the cop he is armed and almost immediately becomes confrontational with the officer who is calm and polite. The thing is, as I see it, the officer is also very faulty at best when it comes to his tactics in handling that driver.

First of all, note the officer is evidently right handed, his pistol is on the right side of his belt. Note in which hand he hold his walkie-talkie; yes in his right hand. The guy just told him he is armed and begins to rant and rave yet the officer continued to hold the radio in his right hand, switched it to his left hand for a moment then back to his right. It seems obvious that the guy he stopped is having some sort of mental or emotional problems by the nature of his rant and that he is aggressive. He is apparently so unhinged he asks the officer why the officer is trying to kill him. I can hear it screaming in my head: th robot saying 'Danger - danger Wil Robinson' yet the officer continues to occupy his strong hand with the radio and he calls in that the subject is armed and is refusing to give ID. He makes no mention that the subject is evidently being aggressively argumentative and irrational. In fact the subject is apparently totally unhinged.

A moment or two after the subject asked why the officer is trying to kill him, the guy reaches for his pistol. What did the officer do, he merely told the guy do not reach for it. I was gobsmacked to see and hear that. The officer then switched the radio to his left hand but a moment later put it back in his right hand, the one with which he would evidently draw his pistol. Remember - that is moments at most after the guy had reached for his pistol. While you can never predict with 100% reliability what you would do in a given situation, I can say with about 99% certainty, I probably would have drawn my pistol and shot the guy when I saw him reaching for his weapon. With the other 1%, I can say if I did not shoot him, I'd either being trying to get him out of the car to control him or I'd at least move to make it harder for him to shoot me. Instead the officer just told him don't reach for anything and simply keeps evidently talking to the guy nonchalantly and making zero effort to physically control the subject or to take his gun away from him. Wake up already is what I was thinking, as I watched this unfold.

The officer then called in that "the subject keeps reaching for his weapon". How many times should he have allowed the guy to reach for it without taking action to stop the threat? What did he think would be the outcome if the guy actually drew it! Watch as the officer's right hand is seen leaning (evidently with his weight behind it) on the guy's car as if relaxed. Again, I was amazed at this officer's actions or should I say inaction; to me it seems as like he was asking to be injured. Just a little bit later, other officers arrive on the scene and one walks up on the passenger side of the car, maybe unseen by the subject. Then the guy pulled something out of his wallet and I saw it as him luring the officer closer to the driver's side window. What did the officer do - he leaned over and reached inside the car. That is an absolute no-no in police work. As the bent over to get whatever the guy just pulled out of his wallet, the subject draws and opens fire striking the first officer and a second backup officer who was also on the driver's side of the vehicle. The backup officer, on the right side of the vehicle, immediately opened fire, fired at least three rounds, fatally striking the subject and made distance between himself and the subject. He then called in shots fired.

Both officers who were shot are lucky to be alive. My guess is that the videos: the officers' body cam videos, what appears to be a patrol car video and the subject's Go-Pro video (yes the subject made his own video), will be used for years to come as a training video of what not to do in such a situation. In my opinion, based on 32 years in federal law enforcement, on a lot of firearms and tactical training I received, on about 16 years of collateral duties as a firearms instructor and several years as a confrontational safety instructor, I think the first officer on the scene made so many blatant errors, in his handling of the situation, that those mistakes, at least in great part, resulted in the subject being able to shoot wound two of the responding officers. It seems to me to be a case of an officer either with his head in the clouds or of an officer who simply was not willing to deploy deadly force. Deadly force that I believe should have been deployed at the first moment when the subject threatened the officer with potentially deadly force, meaning the first time the subject reached for his pistol. Remember, the officer already had called in that the subject had reached for his pistol more than once. Bear in mind also that the subject evidently was irrational and aggressive and seemingly totally unhinged. One can only hope that the first officer will learn from this experience.

The article includes a few videos: body cam videos, what seems to have been a patrol car video and the subject's own Go-Pro video.

Instead of Having Her Handgun Taken Away...

...from her by a bad guy, I believe that all the officer had to do was pull the trigger as he tugged it into his abdomen. Instead, in my opinion, her evident inability to realize that pulling the trigger likely would have ended the problem, or at least given her the upper hand, was absolutely pathetic, as I think was her essentially wailing and then having to beg the guy not to shoot her. Luckily he did not shoot her (and that I think truly was a godsend). As it turned out, another officer shot him - problem solved.

I am not of the opinion that women do not belong in law enforcement. I am of the opinion though that if you carry a gun, you being female or male, you had best be able to use it to defend your own life, or the lives of other innocents. I think that holds especially true if you are a law enforcement officer in a potential life or death situation. She was very lucky this time, not all criminal scum would have let her go unscathed or even alive. She may not be so lucky the next time if she does not get that; hopefully she learns from her experience.

Watch the video in the linked article; I have little success embedding videos from Fox News. Video & more at the source, or cut and paste: https://www.foxnews.com/us/california-officers-gun-stolen-half-naked-suspect-who-later-shot-dead-another-officer-bodycam.

I Have Slacked Off Quite A Bit

Will try to produce some new blog posts soon. Been out of it the last few weeks. Other than that am also sick of posting about the same old political BS. Trump is the enemy of the world who needs to be 86, apparently according to Comey and that is probably what Chucky Smucky Schumer is hoping as well. So on and so on and on it goes, same old shit, different day. I am hoping for an arrest and prosecution of Comey, time will tell.

Trump does seem to be racking up on getting his campaign promises completed. Hopefully he will get most accomplished, if not all of them (somewhat tardy on the war in Ukraine but he certainly is trying doggedly to get that war to end).

Agree With Trump On Anything...

...especially his stance on Israel, or heck just have that same stance on your own that you support Israel, and suddenly instead  of being totally mentally fit for Congress, you are now a pariah and unfit to serve in your capacity as a Congressman. So goes the fate of John Fetterman (more at the source)..

The loony leftists all praised him and swore he was mentally competent after his stroke; That was when he was obviously, in my opinion, suffering some sort of mental problem or issue that evidently was stroke related. But then as he overcame the effects of the stroke he seemed to get back to normal or at least to his version of normal. Now though that he gives strong support to Israel and mirrors President Trump on that - the loony leftists are saying he is unfit to hold office or are at least questioning his fitness; in fact some have said they no longer recognize him as the man they once knew and have outwardly questioned his mental capacity to serve. Leftists in general, especially ones who turn on their own, I think, are the biggest hypocrites, traitors of trust, and cowards whom I have ever witnessed.

Who knows, maybe they will wake him up and rile him enough to drive him to go over to the Republican side. Not that we need another RINO but one less Demoncrat has got to be a good thing.

All the best,
Glenn B
