Sold The Voere In 22LR

Collecting guns and shooting them can be a very expensive hobby. One thing that helps mitigate some of the cots is selling off some of the guns in one's collection to buy others. I picked up a Voere 22 caliber rifle last year, refinished its stock earlier this year and just sold it in an online auction.

I picked it up for a song and sold it at a price considerably more tha what I had paid for it. No seller's remorse involved there, just seller's joy. Now, I wont feel guilty at the auction this coming Saturday should I buy something else.

I Almost Signed Up On Facebook Again...

...and believe me it was tempting - if only because I wanted to see the reactions to the failed anti-Kavanaugh fiasco staged by the democrats. I was able to resist the temptation; although, it was tough. Really though, I would have liked to have seen how much some arsehats there were gnashing their teeth, pulling out their own hair and vowing to have him impeached because to them - now he is a rapist. God, the loons on the left have just about totally lost it. One has to wonder if they will grow some balls and try for a violent revolution soon, they sure are crazy enough.

No Matter The Context In Which She Spoke...

...this explains exactly (I hope DD sees my use of the word "exactly" and understand the context in which I placed it just for her) what democrats and other leftist kooks have been doing, with the help of the media, to their political opponents for years. Just look at the Kavanaugh fiasco.

I Was About To Sell These Grips...

...and then I actually looked at the company name on the packaging. Damn, I must have had these SILE rubber grips, for the Ruger MK II, for at least a couple or few years now (maybe several years) and never noticed.

I suppose I am lucky then that something prevented me - Divine Intervention, the Force, the Fates or just my proclivity for procrastination - from opening the package and slapping the grips on my MK II. It's not like they are worth anything but there is nostalgia in that package and no UPC code on it (that is old).

Man, does that name SILE bring back memories of long ago!As I recall they were next to Jon Jovino's gun store when Jovino's was on Centre Market Place (before Jovino's moved to Grand Street), SILE was another gun store. I also seem to recall that they were a lot more personable in SILE than were the all knowing gun gurus in Jovino's. Of course, I could have that backwards; yet, I don't think I do because I have avoided Jovino's like the plague for decades because I thought they were scumbags nasty dirtbags (at least back then, don't know about now).

Anyway, I definitely remember going into another store there about back in the mid to late 80s and maybe into the 90s. I am pretty sure it was Sile Inc. or Sile Distributors. After all, why go to a store like Jovino's with what I thought were its nasty gun gurus when there was SILE - a "purveyor of "Humane Police Equipment""! It was a time when that area in downtown Manhattan was still a bit of a gun store Mecca; too bad the commies, socialists and other leftist libturds put an end to it.

I may never sell these grips now; I may have to put them into a shadow box and hang them on the wall. Yeah - right, I'll get that done just about as fast as I got around to putting them on my Ruger Mark II; after all - I am The Great Procrastinator.

Wisner's Inc.

Placed an order with Wisner’s Inc., by phone on October 1, for a new ejector assembly for a Marlin Model 1936/36. Received the part on October 6. Put it in the Marlin today and it fits like it was machined as an OEM part; although, this one as far as I am aware was machined by Wisner’s. As they put it on their website: "Our machine shop is one of the largest small manufacturer of obsolete reproduction firearm parts."

I just tried out the Marlin 1936/36 with the new ejector installed with some spent casings and it worked first time every time. Of course, I will not discard the original ejector assembly (the one that looks like someone put the lollipop shaped end through a grinder and thus the reason it was replaced) but will keep it safe in the event this new one ever fails. Hopefully, the new one will last a lifetime and that will be a long time.

A hat tip to Wisner's for getting the order right the first time and shipping it promptly.

Kavanaugh Sworn In...

All the best,
Glenn B

It's About Time - It's About Space...

...but it ain't about the whole human race. It's about America getting set on the right path to justice and it is about time it is over and Brett Kavanaugh has filled the empty space on the bench of the Supreme Court. Happily, he will be sworn in soon with the speed of lightning - talk about it being about time - he has already been sworn in and will start hearing cases or whatever on Tuesday of the coming week! More at the source.

Maybe it was just for the moment of this photo but that POS Roberts does not
look happy while swearing in Justice Kavanaugh! Everyone else does though.
I advise him to start wearing body armor though because the leftist loons almost certainly will be gunning for him - I think they have gone that far toward violent revolution, I think. Sad but true, we are headed that way almost for sure.

Man, I wish this would have happened 30 years ago so I could have lived more of my life enjoying the liberty t exercise my rights as I believe will become the case under the court as it is now. Of course, to keep it that way YOU MUST VOTE IN NOVEMBER'S ELECTIONS AND BE SURE TO VOTE FOR THE RIGHT AS THE PATH TO THE LEFT WILL ONLY BRING MISERY.

Oh Happy Day!

I May Never Eat Egglplant Again

A Chinese man reportedly wound up in the hospital after attempting to remedy his own constipation by inserting and eggplant into his arse. Well that allegedly was his story to medical personnel at the ER; although, I can think of other reasons he or someone else might have shoved it where the sun does not shine. It required surgery to remove. Armed Mom Not Only Ruins His Rape Attempt...

...but puts out his lights forever. A Morgantown, WV mom heard a late night commotion coming from her 12 year old daughter's room. What was she to do but grab her shotgun (just as uncle Joe B would have her do) and go to investigate. What she found in her daughter's room was allegedly an unknown to her male who was trying to rape her daughter. As the man turned to confront her, she fired  shot and blew off most of his frigging head! More at the source.

Now I am sure that some leftist snowflake tolerant pieces of shit are cringing and crying over this man losing his life (yes the shot killed him) but I for one got a kind of satisfying feeling after reading the story especially since the deceased was a known pedophile. Way to go mama bear protecting your cub with all you had!

Damn Phone Insurance - Don't Want To Not Have It...

...but do not want to pay the premiums. I've been paying like $6.99 or $7.99 each, per month, for insurance on our cell phones, all three are Samsung galaxy S6 Actives. Had to get a refurbished phone coupe of days ago because mine was/is not charging right. Went on chat with ATT. Ok they said, but it will take 5 days for us to even have one in stock before we can ship it - there I a big shortage of that model AND there will be a $75 fee. (supposedly marked down from much higher because I made no prior claims). So I said - well, then if you do not have it, I am supposed to get next phone up the ladder, so to speak, am I not! I also asked for what in hell I have been paying those insurance fees on three phones for 3 or 4 years now if it is going to take that long. Gal had no good answer to those questions. Then did all she had to do and chat ended. All good and courteously done.

Funny thing was not too long later, I got an email telling me order had been processed. Then probably within an hour or two of the chat got a second email, it said order had shipped. I received the phone yesterday. Got it up and running today - pain in the arse to get my email to sync but finally figured out I had to remove an Outlook email app to get the email app that came with the phone to synch. Did factory reset on old one. I actually got it to charge some with new charger of new phone - I had been buying a new charger or cable for charger every month or so and that would work for a few weeks or a month then phone would no longer charge. Figure it has to be the female connector for the charger is not alright. Anyway, new charger worked for awhile and it charged some, enough to transfer files and do the reset.

I will say this, the phone looks brand new. It is a model I like very much and of course is no longer available new. If it works for a couple of years I will be happy with it before I need to fork out for a new one which by then may be a chip implant to the head (not for me though - none of that cyborg shit for me unless they develop something to get the plumbing banging again).

One excellent thing is my old phone had only 32GB memory, they gave me phone with 64GB of memory. I asked in chat which I had, was not sure and she said it was the 64GB model and that is what I would get. That will be nice for pics and such.

Anyway, the phone insurance is a racket, in all I paid for about half again in premiums the price of my phone over three or so years plus $75 to get a refurbished one due to my claim. Yeah, I know a new one would be about double that cost but then it would be new. Oh well, this one is more than good enough for me and some features on it no longer found on newer models, like the heartrate and blood oxygen level monitors that I use when I work out.

Enough ranting.

All he best,
Glenn B

I did not wait. I ordered this to give my grandson as a birthday present. He will have to wait though, because he gets it when he turns 9 years old (best birthday - last one in single digits). He just turned 2 but 7 years goes by quicker than he would think possible. Hopefully it truly  will be a very limited run and it will be worth something as a collectible by then. Of course, it will always be worth the fun the set will give to him and his mom & dad when they teach him to shoot it and they too have their own Red Ryder - an adult sized one - with which to demonstrate and to join in on the fun.

You know, I don't think I ever gave my daughter or son a BB gun. My daughter was into shooting until the age of boys. My son - he was another story. He got his first rifle - an Armscor 14Y - either when he turned 9 or 10 (think it was when he was 10 to appease my wife but it might have been at 9 as I had wanted). Anyway, he has remained a shootist. I just shipped him a Savage Model 93 BTVSS in 22 WMR today. When he reads this, I hope he posts a comment to remind me if I ever gave him a BB gun or (if as I recall) we went straight to a 22.

Oh The Smoldering Ire

So, back in the last week of August or so, there was 'reported' widespread outrage over the upcoming Friends of The NRA dinner to be held at The Inn at new Hyde Park on September 27, 2018 (yesterday evening). Local residents and local politicians were yammering in frenzied voices about shutting down the event and promising to stage an anti-NRA protest in mass. Read the linked article and watch the video in that article for more about that so called ire.

Well, I attended the event last night. It started at 530PM, I got there around 515PM. I pulled into the driveway for valet parking and had them park my car, according to the valet it would be parked in their underground garage (this turned out to be a crock of shit - they retrieved my car from the street - I guess a Toyota Corolla does not deserve underground space). Anyway before I go way off on a tangent, let me say that when I arrived there was one police officer at the front door that I saw. More would arrive after that, later on I saw maybe 20 to 30 of them around the building.

There were the promised protestors too, just not as many as they would have wanted us t believe would show up. In all, I estimate 20 at most at any one time. It was a truly lame effort, or should I say lack of effort, on the part of the anti-gunners. Maybe people are finally waking up and realizing the NRA and the Friends of the NRA are not evil nor are we the problem.

On the inside of the Inn, there was another story going on. There were 461 paid guests in attendance, no protestors allowed and no media allowed (yes there was at least one camera crew outside and two press photographers (or at least two folks with what appeared to be press credentials). Now imagine if you will that the folks from the NRA and/or Friends of the NRA (not part of the NRA) were truly evil as say the anti-gunners. There were 461 paying guests and at the most 20 protestors - the leftists were outnumbered just over 23 to 1; if we gun enthusiasts and supporters of the RKBA had wanted to cause trouble - we would have kicked their arses from new Hyde Park to Canarsie! Yet, we did not because we are civil, ethical and law abiding - anything but the evil doers we are portrayed as by the left.

I had a good time. I spent too much on the raffles, did not win a thing, but spent my money on a good cause. I was at one of two tables of Long Island Gun Club members and enjoyed the company of my fellow LIGC members. I would do it again, probably next year if it comes round again. Don't know why I have never attended one before.

This all looks like lot of fun is all I can say about it. Well, maybe I can say one more thing - looks like  at least one shooter was getting more than merely shooty goodness out of going full-auto.

Speaking Of New Boomers - Did I Forget...

...to mention that I also picked up a new pistol over the weekend. I had the high bid on it at an auction in August, or maybe it was July (time flies - especially over the summer), and had to pick up the purchase paperwork at my county PD before I could pick up the gun. It would not be within reason for me to drive over 600 miles roundtrip solely to pick it up so, I waited for a more opportune time - the next live auction - to drive up and get it, thus killing two birds with one bullet stone.

What I got was a second Glock 30 in 45 ACP. When I told Brendan what I had bought, his response was the perfectly correct one - now you can carry two of them at the same time. I wonder, did I ever tell him that the best backup pistol is the exact same model as your primary carry pistol? If I didn't, well then, it seems he has learned some good stuff after leaving the nest.

Anyway, that is it up there as it appeared in the auction catalog. The summary said it was unfired in the box. I checked it out pretty well yesterday and can say with nary a doubt that it is indeed unfired except maybe for test firing at the factory. The copper colored lube that Glock places on the slide rails was undisturbed and there in copious amount; everything else also looked pristine. That is a good thing. The price makes it even a better thing, it was about $150 less expensive than the lowest price I could find on a new one elsewhere. It only came with two magazines while another at the same auction had the third mag but went for $25 more. Regardless, at the price I paid, I can afford having to buy a couple or few more mags and still wind up with a great deal on the pistol. All other accessories were in the box as they should have been there. This goes to the range  probably this week along with the other one I already owned.

Now, I am off to the virtual reality of online shopping, at Optics Planet (good price and free shipping if order is $49 and up) to get another couple of mags for it.

Okay, I came back to this post after placing my order for two more mags at Optics Planet. They deserve free plug. They had one of, if not the, best price(s) around. Since I ordered two Glock 30 mags at  $47.78, I decided to also order a needed cleaning rod adapter for a 12 gauge at $2.19 which puts the order total at just under $50 and thus makes it eligible for free shipping. Then I had the thought that I should look to see if I can add a coupon code. I found one at RetailMeNot.com for $5.00 off an order above $49. I applied the coupon code to my order and it was now $44.97 instead of the original $49.97. Then I looked at shipping to see if it was still free or if I would now be charged for it since my order had gone under the required $49 minimum order for free shipping. Nope  - no shipping charge - it was still free even though the order total was now under $49.

With some other companies I have used, if you add a coupon code that brings the total below a minimum total to get free shipping - you lose the free shipping. Optics Planet does not screw you like that and that is just another reason I like to shop with them. Granted, the free shipping is not fast but it is free; in addition: their prices are usually very competitive, they usually have what I want, they also often have items I cannot find elsewhere, and their customer service was excellent when I had to use it once or twice before.

All the best,
Glenn B
