Everyman's Evening Eyeful

Do you remember Dale Evans, are you old enough.? She was no youngster when I was a kid but in her younger days she was quite the looker.

No, neither of the above was Dale Evans. Dale may not ever have been photographed in as provocative a photo as those above but she came purdy darned close.

Ammo Alert - 308 WIN

One of the best prices I have seen in awhile for 180 grain, soft point, 308 WIN ammo is being offered by Palmetto State Armory. While one or two other sites I could find had it about one or two cents per round less expensive, their shipping, at least to me, was much lower than the other dealers would have charged for shipping.

What they have is:

Prvi Partizan 308 Winchester, 180gr, Soft Point Ammunition for $13.99 per box of 20 rounds.

I don't know about you but as I said it is one of the best prices, considering their shipping charges, that I have seen in a while. It is probably needless to say but I will say it anyway, I placed my order already. I have shot this ammo before, and as far as I am concerned, it is good enough for deer hunting out to at least 100 yards (and probably much further but I only got a chance to shoot it out to 100 yards). I imagine it would be darned good at shooting other things too.

If you are interested, go here:

http://palmettostatearmory.com/prvi-partizan-308-win-sp-180gr-pp3-27.html

Granted, PSA is somewhat slow on getting orders shipped, or at least they have been so on some of my past orders but they have ammo and other goods at prices worth the wait.

Farewell Nancy Reagan

Rest in peace Mrs. Reagan.

Nancy Reagan was a true American patriot and an honorable lady. She will be mourned and missed and her passing is a great loss to the United States of America.

I, Nancy, take you, Ronald, as my husband...
...to have and to hold...

...from this day forward...

...for better...

...for worse...

...for richer..

...for poorer...

...in sickness...

...and health...

...until death do us part.

The Test That Pegged Me Pretty Well

I found the link for this test over at The Vulgar Curmudgeon in this post.

Of course, I took the test. My test results sum me up to a certain degree although I am by no means a total isolationist but am damned close to one although I would allow for some limited legal immigration and limited foreign trade.

You are a: Objectivist Anarchist Total-Isolationist Nationalist Traditionalist

Collectivism score: -83%
Authoritarianism score: -83%
Internationalism score: -83%
Tribalism score: 33%
Liberalism score: -17%

Explanation key:

Collectivism refers economic intervention, whether the society or state should intervene in the economy to redistribute wealth from the more to the less successful. The negative percentages indicate opposition to such intervention.

Authoritarianism refers to state power to control the actions of individuals to prevent them from harming others or themselves, and also to establish the will of the majority over society. Negative percentages indicate opposition to state power.

Internationalism refers to political involvement in other nations or global affairs, either via war, treaty or international organizations. Negative percentages indicate isolationist beliefs, and the belief in national sovereignty.

Tribalism refers to identity or nationalism, favoring your own nation over foreigners. Negative percentages indicate opposition to national or ethnic identity and oriented towards pan-humanism.

Liberalism refers to acceptance of historically illegal or immoral social practices or customs. Negative percentages indicate opposition to such acceptance.

Springtime Must Be Nigh...

...because one of my Russian Tortoises is antsy.

I have had my Russians brumating (sort of a reptilian hibernation), for just over 2 months now, in our pantry down in the basement. It gets pretty cold in there, certainly cold enough to put reptiles or amphibians through a good brumation period which is often essential for successful breeding later in the warmer months. For some reason, this one of three tortoises has decided to wake up early. I would not have expected them to come out of brumation for at least another month since the temperature in the pantry is still down around 45 degrees Fahrenheit. I am guessing they are being affected by the longer day times, it is pretty amazing how the sun being out longer can affect their behavior even when kept in almost constant darkness as in the tank in our pantry. The other Russian Tortoise and my male Hermann's Tortoise seem to still be enjoying a good winter's snooze.

Could This Be Bernie Sanders Latest Campaign Poster?

If not, why not! This would work well for him but maybe even better for Hillary's Republican opponent.

Light Posting This Week

I got called in yesterday for work and will be working the rest of the week to cover for a coworker who is out due to an emergency. I am happy to be making money but would rather have him feeling well and me not having to cover for him, he is a nice guy.

Anyway, that means posting will probably be light this week until the weekend. I may try to post something else later  tonight but right now I have to look into paying bills, it is that time of the month again.

Okay, so she doesn't have a gun or blade, at least that we can see, but she is an eyeful and a sure sign of what spring will bring.

A Guy Walks Up To Me In Times Square Today,...

...maybe 45 minutes ago, as I was making my way to Penn Station. He walked up to me from behind, on my left side.  I saw him just as he approached because I scan as I walk. He looked like anyone else in the crowd but that changed as he got abreast of me and he said:

"Can I touch you with black love".

I simply replied "excuse me" as I wanted to be darned sure of what he had said before replying and wanted to throw him of a bit. I did not notice any potential accomplices and just kept moving and ready. He then repeated those exact same words.

I replied he could not touch me with anything. He kept apace of me and replied:

"I am sure I could touch you with black love".

I again gave a simple reply and said:

If you touch me with anything, I will knock you on your arse".

He got the idea but as he left he also said:

"I was going to touch you where you can't be touched, you don't have to get violent. You should ask before you get violent."

I guess he mistook plain talk for violence; the truth us violence had not come to play yet. It almost certainly would have ensued with the appropriate amount of force to make him stop had he actually laid a hand on me. I would not have asked him a thing had he touched me after saying what he had said, I would just have done what was needed.. I was more than ready, already moving in a stance prepared to defend myself had he laid hands on me. Had he remained a moment longer, I would have told him that maybe he had better choose his words better  or better yet that he just leave people alone.

One thing about this situation is that, while we were walking in such a large crowd, and yes Times Sqare is crowded during rush hours, he could have just as easily walked up behind me and shot, stabbed or struck me a blow and I would have been caught unaware.  I scan around me as I walk but do not have eyes in the back of my head and tend to watch where I am walking even though I am alert and scan. Once I was aware of him though, I was immediaely on high alert and ready to do whatever in self defense.

Glenn B

We Are Home From New Hampshire...

...and made I back here in an amazing 3.5 to 3.75 hours, including about a 15 minute stop for gas and use of the facilities. The trip, either way usually takes us around 5 to 5.5 hours - so we were blessed today. It probably would have taken us longer if we had gone to the range and shot for an hour or two as we had planned, leaving later almost certainly would have meant more traffic. That is another story and all I'll say now is we went to an indoor range to shoot, were told we had to fill out paperwork that would take 15minutes to complete and then go to the back of the line. We were third on line, had about 30 people behind us, for a 15 lane range, and said screw it and left. Maybe more on this in another post, that is if I want to aggravate myself by thinking about it again. For now let me suffice it to say, we probably will never visit said range again and will shoot at the Manchester Firing Line when next we go to an indoor range in the Nashua/Manchester area.

Anyway, we had a great get together, Saturday night, with some folks we met at past bloggershoots up that way. We hope to see them again this summer for a bloggershoot (this weekend's meet was just for dinner). We ate at a Texas Roadhouse and the food was excellent, best restaurant bought rib eye steak I have had in years, great service too.

On Saturday morning Brendan and I had started the day by driving up to West Lebanon, NH for a gun show at the Fireside Inn. Not a bad little show, they had some interesting guns for sale that I am not likely to ever again see on sale in NY as longs as the leftists rule here. Not too many knives and very little Nazi crap for sale. As a matter of fact, I don't even think I saw anyone selling jerky and that was a good thing as far as I am concerned. More guns percentagewise than most shows I have been to in recent years. There was a decent amount of reloading supplies on sale and a fair amount of ammo. Most of the ammo was way, way, way, way
overpriced but not all of it.

Getting there Friday night was not bad, I am guessing it took us about 5 hours and 15 minutes despite a good deal of traffic now and again. That was to be expected on a Friday afternoon and evening I suppose.

All in all we had a good time but I sure would have loved to have gotten in some shooting with my son. As he said, we saved some ammo, and as I see it - I saved the range fees to be used at another range where they appreciate their customers better.
