Cruz Went Way Beyond Kasich

Let's face it folks Governor Kasich proved himself a piss pants whining spoiled brat when he stayed in the running for the Republican presidential nomination while not standing any possible chance of winning it except by what in essence would have been cheating. Then he continued to show his true colors by refusing to attend the Republican National Convention. I guess though that was to be expected after his childish, rotten child at that, behavior during the months leading up to the convention.
 
Cruz, on the other hand, seemed like a responsible adult for the most part during the debates and all of the months leading up to the convention. Once things were seriously underway, I for one had thought him the best choice among all the candidates for the Republican nod. Then though, it became obvious that the voters overwhelmingly preferred Trump and that Trump would come out on top. In other words, there was not a chance for any other Republican candidate to come even close to the amount of votes he had garnered. What was a responsible person, who definitely would not vote for or in any way assist Hillary Clinton, to do? It was obvious the answer was: Support Donald J. Trump for president.

It did not matter if you were once Trump's rival, it did not matter if you platforms were different, it did not matter that you liked or disliked Trump, it did not matter if it was personal and Trump had insulted you - what mattered was that you had to do, were obliged to do, were compelled to do what was best for America. By the time of the convention, that was to support Trump 100%. Ted Cruz thought otherwise and he got up on stage and showed how little of an American he was by refusing to endorse Donald Trump. He showed himself to be in essence a sniveling little brat boy and did that the very next day when he came out and tried to defend his failure to endorse Trump by talking about his own personal issues that he had with Trump, basically saying he could never endorse anyone who had insulted his family. This from a man who had been running for the nomination as the Republican candidate for the presidency - his feelings were hurt and thus he could not do what was right!
 
Let me tell you something about America and loyalty to her. I worked in the federal government for 32 years. I (and every other federal law enforcement officer) took an oath, more than once, and was sworn thusly (or very similar to it): 

'I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.'

Ted Cruz, a U.S. Senator who also swore to defend and uphold the very same Constitution by way of a very similar oath of office, was more concerned about his personal feelings when it came to Donald Trump's nomination than he was about defending the Constitution from a want to be tyrant the likes of Hillary Clinton. Let's face it - Cruz would have run against her had he won the nomination and he would have done so vehemently but he did not win it. Yet, for Cruz and any Republican, Conservative or freedom loving American citizen, the utter defeat of Hillary Clinton in her bid for the presidency and protecting America should remain the primary goals in this election. Cruz was too small of a person to see that and decided that his feelings were more important than the future of the United States of America. What he did, when he failed to endorse Trump, was to assist Clinton in her bid to become president. Because of that, I am certain that I could never, and I do mean never, support Cruz should he run for the presidency again at some time in the future. Since his life, his loyalty, his politics seemingly are ruled by such petty emotions, in the face of the protection of our Constitution and of our country, how could I or anyone do anything but oppose him. Damn, he sounded like our nemesis, he sounded like Hillary Clinton making excuses as she always does.

So Why Is Trump Still In The Lead...

...in the race for the Republican nomination? Many Republicans, who claim to be conservative, rant and rave against Trump saying he will be the end of the Republican Party and scratch their heads in wonder as to why he is doing so well. Sadly, they just don't seem to grasp the point that they, those RINOs (as in the ones doing the complaining), already put an end to the Republican Party as we knew it. It was they who allowed Trump to step right in and scoop up Republican votes with Cruz a fairly close second (another outsider if you listen to the RINOs).

How the RINOs can be so dumbfounded about Trump being so popular, mostly because of the ineptness of the Republican Party, is beyond me. I imagine it is that RINOs are just like liberals and leftists and find it difficult to accept responsibility for their shortcomings. Anyway,I can not say it as well as Ann Coulter said it, read what she said here:

I'd much rather see Cruz in the White House but even I have to admit, Trump is a better choice than any other candidate besides Cruz. I will have no problem voting for him if he wins the nomination and I will then just hope and pray he keeps half of his campaign promises. As for those among you who say they would never vote for Trump al I can say is that you had best wake up if he wins the nomination because otherwise it is going to be Clinton or Sanders taking the top spot. Heaven help us if so because then we may be left with no other recourse than prayer or revolution and prayer has not been working all that well over the past 7 plus years.

McCain Considering Tom Ridge For Running Mate

Here it is right off of the FoxNews.com home page:

"McCain floats the prospect of choosing a running mate who supports abortion rights, saying former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge is someone worth considering."

Please tell me he is only kidding. Tom Ridge is, in my opinion, a less than desirable candidate. Tom Ridge was an early appointee to be Secretary for Homeland Security. He, in my opinion, totally destroyed what was one of the best long term anti-money laundering investigations in world history by taking away from U.S. Customs Agents, soon to become ICE agents, virtually all authority to investigate any money laundering offense related to terrorism. U.S. Customs Special Agents had seized tens of millions of dollars from suspected and known terrorists supporters, and from terrorists themselves. Ridge took that authority away from these agents, gave it to the FBI, and the FBI in essence dropped the ball and the investigation. After that, the Customs Agents who were then assimilated in Immigration and Customs Enforcement under DHS were not even allowed to ever again use the name of the operation that they had made such a success. Ridge reportedly gave it all away by agreeing to and signing a memorandum of understanding with the FBI, an agreement mind you that took away an awful lot of authority from the newly formed DHS, specifically from ICE and gave it to the FBI. Can you imagine the DHS not being allowed to investigate terrorism unless they first checked in with the FBI to see if the FBI wanted dibs on the case. Why have a Department of Homeland Security in the first palce? As far as I could see from where I sat, the rest of his time in command of DHS wrought similar tragedies. This man did not even know how to run a department like DHS in a well oiled manner, now McCain is considering him for his VP running mate!

If it were not so sad when it comes to the possible running mates whom McCain is considering it would be laughable. Still though, I imagine this man would be a better choice than would be Lieberman, Then again but let's get serious, and hope that so too does McCain. If you don't start writing to the McCain campaign telling him to choose a better running mate than those he has been considering then we will get a much less than desirable man as VP if they win - and it will be your fault as much as McCain's. You can shape whom he picks, write to him, tell him to consider someone with a sterling reputation, and someone who knows how to get the job done the right way, someone who stands for Republican ethics and ideals. Don't you get it - you are the voters. You should be telling him what type of running mate to select, not him telling us. Let's hope McCain gets it before it is too late; and the only way he will get it is if you start hammering away at the keyboard and sending him emails and letters telling him to look 'right' for his running mate. Well that's my opinion anyhow. It is up to you as the voters to act.

So What Have I Missed...

...while I've been too ill to blog?

Well, I guess I missed the whole Fred Thompson thing. Not really missed it, I read about it, I just have not yet commented on it; and yes I am about to do so here.

Big Deal! Whoopee. It is about time; actually about time would have probably been this November or later, but you know what I mean with them all campaigning early. No I am none to impressed by his announcement to run, or his little website speech. First of all, why demean a campaign for the presidency of the United States of America by announcing your campaign on the Jay Leno show? I think that was disgusting, a move that an uber liberal would take to impress those who are easily impressed by the glitz, a Clintonian move of the first order, when there is not much substance. Hopefully substance will follow. Hmm, what about the website speech? Well there was a bit more substance there, but still not more than self promotion in front of a camera. I would have been much more impressed had Mr. Thompson had the balls to jump into the campaign by jumping into the other night's Republican debate. He certainly has shown his ability to hem and haw; I hope he has more than that.

Now I am not a totally naive kind of a guy. I understand there could be, and likely are many clever reasons he has waited until now. The main one is probably something to do with campaign finances, both his and other candidates. My bet is he will now try to outspend those republican candidates who are not doing as well as the front runners in the campaign like McCain, Tancredo, Huckabee, Hunter, Brownback. In doing so, he may gain the impetus needed to gain in the polls, and if he gains in the polls he may just do it enough to bring him right up there with Giuliani and Romney. Still though he is going to need substance instead of just all the fluff before serious voters would vote for him; I would hope so anyway.

Right now, Romney and Giuliani have that substance, and I think of all the candidates Giuliani - so far has a lot of it as he has proven himself a capable leader under the most trying of times. Others have it too. I believe that Tancredo has the most substance issue wise, but Hunter and Huckabee have a good deal of it. The thing these last guys do not have that the front runners have is popularity or fluff. Fred Thompson has that, the popularity or so it seems, so at least that is going in his favor (yes you still need the fluff along with substance). Now one thing that really helps out on substance and popularity is your stance on the issues. Here is where candidates like Romney and Giuliani are truly lacking when it comes to that stance relative to the party under which they are running for office. As Independents they would be fabulous candidates. Either one of them shines as middle of the road candidates with platforms that are of an Independent nature, ergo not being either strongly Republican or Democrat. I am hopeful that a candidate with popularity, who is more Republican in nature regarding the issues, will come to be the front runner in the Republican convention. So far I believe Tom Tancredo is the man who has got the issues right, but he certainly is not among the most popular probably only because of lack of recognition, he does not have the fluff. Not many knew who he was before the campaign. Fred Thompson, on the other hand has lots of fluff, he was very popular before the campaign thanks to the television series he was in. Now if he can prove himself on the real issues, he may yet prove to be the candidate of choice for Republicans. I still keep hoping that Tancredo does it, but if not, then Thompson might well be acceptable to me, but he has a long way to go to start proving himself as a worthy candidate capable of being a leader, that is, as far as I see it. Now that he is officially in the race, I hope he starts racing.

PS: some may note that I never mentioned Ron Paul above. While he maybe running on the Republican ticket, he is not a Republican by any stretch of the imagination. He is, as far as I can tell, an extremist, a crazy one at that, but those are my personal opinions of him.
