The closing on our house should take place anytime from June 10th to the end of June. After that, I'll be free of this socialist, anti-gun, whackadoo libterd of a state - or so I had thought. Then when I took a look at my mail today, those hopes while not shattered kind of sank somewhat - I got a jury duty notice. I have not received a jury duty notice in about 20 years. I know that because I am sure the last one I got was before 9/11 and am pretty sure it was at least a couple of years before then. Why in hell they had to send me one now boggles my mind. With my luck, we will close and they will want me to come in for a jury panel right before or after that. If after, they will have a hard time getting me there because once we close I am fleeing this shit-bird (thank you for the term Mr. Leahy) state to be a resident no more. If they do somehow manage to sink there hooks into me, I will have no place to stay so I hope they will put me up in a motel or drop me from the juror service rolls.
All the best,
Glenn B

Go to the bookstore and buy a book on Jury Nullification. The bigger the print on the cover the better. Carry it into the courthouse when you show up. You will Not be selected for any jury.
Or, if you have already sold your house, just ignore the summons. It will take them quite a while to come look for you, and you'll be gone.
When you fill out the questionaire, tell them that you have friends or family in law enforcement.
You can do this.P.
There is no need for you to be present at the closing. I have signed via Internet more times than I have done it in person. Talk to your realtor, then blast off!
I will have no problem being nullified. I used to be in LE which almost guarantees I will not be selected. It is just the selection process sucks It can take days of reporting to the courthouse. Too bad they did not send it in a few weeks, I should be gone, out of NY, by June 26th.
As for not being at the closing, in NY (at least around where I live), it's all done through lawyers with the buyers and sellers present. Thus, I am stuck there - which is okay, give me time to say my goodbyes.
