...regarding the several guns and ammunition found stashed along the banks of a canal that runs along the Potomac River in Washington, DC. They were found by a woman out walking in the area. She initially found two of them in a violin case and police later found more of them and ammunition hidden in cans ad plastic bags. More here. Were they the fruits of a burglary, or an illegal gun dealer's wares, or maybe they were something more nefarious like weapons stashed there for use during the upcoming presidential inauguration? Hopefully the Secret Service is at least looking into that possibility without merely dismissing it as having been something else.

Yep, exactly. That road is a major route into downtown dc...And except for the "boathouse" property, there is no place to stop a car there. There is a hiking trail close by that meets with the C and O canal towpath trail that ends in Georgetown. Very strange place to stash guns.
