Life Is A Glass Of Cherries (And Some Applejack)

Have you ever eaten maraschino cherries, ones from which you drained the sweet red fluid and then replaced it with good hard spirits? I used Laird's Applejack recently and let it set for a week or so (I've used white lightning and potato vodka in the past).

Well, I just put 6 of those cherries in a glass, with a little of the applejack and cherry juice/syrup concoction from the jar (there is always some of the liquid left in the cherries that mixes with the booze) and added about 4 ounces of Laird's Applejack to it. The ration was about 4 to 1 for the liquids with the applejack being the predominant one. Sipped it down slowly, enjoying every sip as it passed through my lips and over my gumbs, during the last 15 minutes or so.

It was heavenly and had me smiling and looking forward to munching those cherries. Well, I threw back the glass and caught all of the cherries in my maw at once. I savored each bite until about the third or fourth one when I bit down hard on a pit. I swear, if I hadn’t had a good four ounces of the Applejack in that drink I would have howled in agony. As it is now, it only hurts like hell and I am betting I cracked one of my teeth, or made an existing crack worse, but with all the post radiation cracks - what does one more matter. What really matters right about now is having another wee dram of that Laird's Applejack.

All the best,
Glenn B
