...that is, if you enjoy an extraordinarily twisted sense of funny bones humor. Johnny Optimism, as I see it, is sort of gallows' humor that plays on the ill, handicapped, medical professionals, children, life, death and so on. Funny as hell (and yes, if I ever find myself there I do hope to see the humor in the situation). I was treated to a link to the Johnny Optimism site thanks to wireutter over at Knukledraggin my life away, in his post: Say Hi To Granny For Me (the title of which, when you think of it or at least when I think of it, is biting wit itself.
Now, many would probably not consider Johnny Optimism to be a blog but more of a sick yet humongously amusingly humorous site but the way I see it it is a bona fide blog with a new idea expressed in each and everyone of those cartoon strips. Great stuff, I am still laughing over these three in particular:

Stuff like this may have me laughing my way through radiation and chemo therapy.
Oh, did I forget to mention, Johnny Optimism is now part of my blog roll, under Other Bloggers of Note. Great stuff indeed.
All the best,
Glenn B

Well ya gotta be on the sick side of the humor curve for those :) kinda like me.
I LOVE it! Thanks for telling....
Glenn- I'm the writer/creator of Johnny Optimism (though I don't feel like either of those...I just feel like Johnny's a friend of mine who I like to introduce to other people).
"Johnny" was created in the days following my mother's death, and the first batch of cartoons just poured out of me as an odd form of grieving. I had to express the feeling that laughter and pain can coexist; in fact, it's sometimes only a matter of personal perspective whether something is funny or painful.
So the cartoons acknowledge that Life Can Suck, but we can still laugh and still go on.
I'm so glad you're enjoying the cartoons, and will keep them coming throughout your treatment and recovery!
Stilton,
Thanks for shedding light on the creation of Johnny Optimism. Sorry to hear that it came about due to the death of your mom. I am sure though it will help me down the path toward recovery and help me win my battle.
All the best,
GB
Glenn- For what it's worth, my mom would have laughed at every cartoon. And I just read that you've been blogging here for 5 years - that's twice as long as I've been at it, and my hat is off to you!
Good luck and keep laughing...it makes everyone around you nervous!
