Is The Federal Government Still Headed Toward A Shutdown?

The actual budget agreements have not been hammered out, they plan on doing so on Thursday. Then they have to vote on it in Congress. It seems support for the agreed upon plan is wavering and when you look at it in the sensible manner, there really are no budget cuts being made:

Only in Washington can a budget that spends more than it did the year before, with a larger deficit, be portrayed as “cutting.” (Senator Rand Paul April 11, 2011, see this link: http://www.paul.senate.gov/record.cfm?id=332429
.) It seems there are quite a few in Congress like Sen. Paul, on both sides, who are opposed to the new budget, see:

That makes me wonder if they will actually agree to the finalized version on Thursday. If not, the federal government may well shutdown!

All the best,
Glenn B
