My Congratulations To President Elect Obama

Well we fought the good fight, but he whooped our candidate, and us, in the electoral vote, not so much in the popular vote, but certainly enough to win. So in the spirit of being an American I must offer my congratulations to President Elect Obama. I can only hope I will not force myself to eat those words later. Yes that means I am not optimistic about the outlook for our country under President Obama, but I will in the best of spirit of being a citizen of the United States of America respect my president (president elect), as you should too, even though many of us will probably disagree with him and the great majority of his policies. So long as he upholds the Constitution and honestly tries to do the best he can for our great nation, then he deserves that respect as president (or as president elect as he is now). Time will tell for how long he deserves it.

He is our president elect. He will become, in a couple of months, our president. He will then be our president for at least 4 years. Live with it, get used to it. Keep letting your voices be heard though because that is your legacy from your freedom loving forefathers, it is your right and even your duty as citizens. As you move along through the next 4 years, you will have plenty of time to support him, criticize him, or damn him depending upon his performance. You will also have plenty of time to prepare for the 2012 elections. Think about that and do what is needed to be done in order to assure a strong nation with free citizens who enjoy their rights and liberties under our Constitution.

I also wish to offer my condolences to John McCain and his hopes to attain the presidency. To the Republican party all I can say is get your fucking act together better luck next time; and remember - you make your own luck.

All the best,
Glenn B

O.K., O.K., congrats to the President elect. But remember, you are backed by an overwhelmingly Democrat Congress, President Obama, so when the fertilizer impacts the impeller, it's all on you guys. You don't have the Republicans to blame any more, for they have no power.

Although I used different phraseology, I basically said the same thing this morning.
I do think much of what we saw last night was conservatives angry about the republican leadership spending our money like drunken sailors... and not being true conservatives.

Glenn,

Sorry I don't share your optimism and threw my flag in the trash. I don't think anyone should blindly follow any leader as the democrats have done. If it smells like a rat it probably is.

I don't have any optimism, none at all. Obama is our president elect. He deserves the respect of the people if for no other reason than the position he will soon hold. If however, as I believe he will, he starts to screw up by trying to screw over America, her people and their rights - then I will be pretty certain to damn him. On the other hand, if he pleasantly surprises me by somehow being a decent leader, he will continue to have my respect by having earned it.

I am pretty certain though that Obama will not earn my respect, nor yours, nor that of most Americans. I am pretty sure he will be abominable when it comes to the rights of the People. I am pretty sure he will try to foster socialism and even communism here within our shores. Even though I m pretty sure of that, I give him the respect due him as president, Commander in Chief, and Chief Executive of the Executive Branch of our government. That is not optimistic, that is living up to my legacy as an American, that is showing respect at least for the office of the presidency if not for the man himself, that is what I would do for any legally elected president, at least until he proves himself unworthy of respect.

As for throwing your flag away - what flag do you mean? Do you mean the Stars and Stripes, the Star Spangled Banner, the American Flag; the one to which I, and probably you, have sworn allegiance? If so too bad you are that much of a malcontent not to give more respect to the symbol that so many have died for over the many years we have been a nation. Instead of having thrown it out, why are you not standing for it and trying to right the wrong of this election by legal and moral means. 2012 is not that far off, and this is still the USA.

All the best,
Glenn B
