He was born February 6, 1911 - he died June 5, 2004. During the time in between those dates he did many things, but most importantly he was the leader of the United States of America and a staunch ally and protector of much of the Free World as we now know it. I did not say he was president of the USA, but while indeed such was the case, it is more importantly noted that he was indeed a great leader. He was not a manager, not a supervisor, not a coach, not a puppet nor puppet master, not anything like what the world seems to want to make of those they call presidents, prime ministers, and politicians today. Instead of fitting the mold of one who merely managed what was at hand, he actually took the reigns of leadership, and he rode that steed sitting high in the saddle all the way through some of the toughest times in our history to assure we remained free men in a free world.
Too bad we don't have anyone even close to him today because we sure could use his talent, his zeal, his love of freedom, his morality, his belief that man is inherently good, his determination to make certain that good would triumph over evil whenever evil reared its ugly head, and to assure freedom would ring throughout the land. He is gone, but certainly not forgotten, nor should he ever be lost to memory because he was indeed a great leader, a good man, and a loyal American.
All the best,
Glenn B
