There Are Monsters Among Us - Some Closer Than We Think

I just finished reading an article in the Miami Sun Sentinel. It is about Anthony Mangione, a former Special Agent in Charge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement  in Florida and a former Customs Agent. As you are probably aware, I retired from Homeland Security Investigations last November. HSI was formerly known as ICE. ICE was an agency formed in part by combining the investigative branches of U.S. Customs and the Immigration and Naturalization Service under DHS back in 2003.

There is a good chance that I worked with this guy sometime in my career, or under him on a temporary assignment. It makes me sick to think such might have been the case. He does look familiar, very familiar and looked that way the first time I saw his face plastered all over the news last year.

He is, in my opinion, a monster. He was indeed very close, a lot closer that I thought such a despicable and heinous man could be just in that he worked for the same agencies as me. It makes me ashamed to have worked for those same agencies even though I doubt the agencies ever even had a hint that he was a child pornographer. He was supposed to protect kids instead of exploiting them. Heaven, and he know what other criminal acts he may have done involving children.

I can only hope that they give him the maximum allowable sentence.

All the best,
Glenn B
